Abstract:A novel zeolite-like zincoaluminophosphate (denoted as NKX-14) has been synthesized using phosphorous acid (H3PO3) as the source of phosphorus and zinc acetate as zinc source. Formation of NKX-14 has undergone the transformation of the oxidation states of phosphorus from P(III) to P(V) under hydrothermal conditions. Structure refinement from single crystal X-ray diffraction data and element analysis show NKX-14 with composition (NH4)1.67Zn1. 67Al2.33P4O16. The material crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c (No: 15), with a=13.533(8)Å, b=13.392(8)Å, c=6.851(4)Å, V=1617.2(16)Å3, Z=4. It exhibits a 3D open-framework building up of alternating corner-sharing PO4 tetrahedral and AlO4 tetrahedral with aluminum partly substituted by zinc element. The structure possesses a 1D 8-ring channel system running along [001]. The Raman spectra have been used to follow the changes of P oxidation state in NKX-14 and its precursor gel. The framework of NKX-14 is thermal stable when it has been calcined at 350°C for 2h and has a potential usage as adsorbent or catalytic material at low temperature.
