Abstract:White-rot fungi such as Phanerochaete chrysosporium have the ability to degrade lignin of straw in agricultural solid waste. The research was studied on the effect of using white-rot fungi as biological pretreatment on CH4 production from anaerobic fermentation of straw. The results showed that the structure of straw was destroyed and content of lignin in straw was reduced after biological pretreatment by white-rot fungi. Therefore, the period of anaerobic fermentation were largely shortened, meanwhile, the conversion rate of CH4 was enhanced to some extent. Through biological pretreatment by white-rot fungi for 20 d at normal temperature, the conversion rate of CH4 reached 47.63% under anaerobic fermentation for 15 d and 58.74% for 30 d,compared with 53.3% for 5 d after biological pretreatment for 10 d at 39 ℃. When the solution of original pretreatment was taken as inoculation source of subsequent batch process,CH4 production was declined sharply. The conversion rate of CH4 reduced from 22.6% at first inoculation to 12% at second inoculation. According to the results of microbial detection,white-rot fungi were difficult to keep dominant among the microbial species in subsequent batch process.
