Abstract:The crystal structure of [Cu (o-OC_6H_4CH_2NH_2)_2·H_2O]·0.5H_2O was determined on a Syntex R3 four-circle diffractometer with X-ray intensity data collected in a θ-2θ scanning mode. The space group is C_2~3-C_2, with α=25.726 (7), b=9. 196 (2), c=12. 826 (2) A, β=102. 97 (2), Z=8. The positions of Cu atoms were determined by Patterson function and direct method. The coordinates of the remaining non-H atoms were revealed by the method of partial structure expansion and Fonrier syntheses. Refinement was carried out by blook-diagonal matrix least-squares procedure. H atoms were placed in calculated positions and located from difference Fourier syntheses. The structure was refined to a final R value of 0.032. Each Cu(Ⅱ) ion is coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal configuration by 2N, 2O and 1H_2O. H_2O of each Cu(1) [or Cu(2)] coordination unit is bonded to the O atom in Cu(2) [or Cu(1)] coordination unit via hydrogen bond. The remaining 0.5 H_2O in the chemical formula is not bonded to Cu atom, it forms hydrogen bonds with O atom in coordination polyhedra. In addition, these water molecules are hydrogen- bonded to each other.
