Abstract:The surgical repair of urethral strictures has dramatically developed in the last half century.Today,nearly all urethral strictures can be reconstructed in operation.The length and location of the urethral stricture,the etiology of the stricture,and the history of previous urethral surgery or instrumentation all help to decide the operational alternative.Before undertaking urethroplasty surgery,the urologist must be familiar with the use of numerous surgical reconstructive techniques to address any condition of the urethra that might surface at the time of surgery.The practice of repeated dilations and urethrotomies are wrongful and should be abandoned,while open surgical urethroplasty is more likely to produce long-term success,which should as the first alternative.This review will introduce the operative tricks and tips for urethral strictures.
