Abstract:In the development of Sino-American relations, Henry Kissinger is not only one of the initiators of rapprochement,but also a supporter for steady development of Sino-American relations in the past thirty years. As an architect and executor for the strategy of Sino-American rapprochement, Kissinger paid more attention to American strategic requirements. But as an advocate for good Sino-American relations in the following thirty years, Kissinger bases his standpoint more on his perception of Chinese culture. His viewpoint that Chinese culture is characterized by self-restrain is in line with his historical philosophy. This thesis tries to give a full examination of Kissinger's American strategy to China in the past thirty years from Kissinger's idea of Chinese culture.
