We call these kinds of filtering methods are data‐driven filtering because they use only the seismic data. Generally, these approaches can work well when the seismic data are acquired in good geophysical and geological conditions. The key idea of data‐driven filtering is to transform the seismic data from time‐space domain to other domains in which the signal and noise can be separated. However, as the seismic exploration gradually steps into the complex areas, for example, the mountainous regions, the surface and near surface conditions present more and more complexities. On the complex near surface conditions, somewhere the S/N ratio of the seismic data is very low because of the attenuation of the high frequency signal components and the contamination with various coherent noises generated in near surface. In these cases, the data‐driven filtering methods seem powerless to remove the coherent noises.Naturally, the model‐driven filtering is the best option. In marine seismic survey, it is relatively easy to build near surface model as the information of the water bottom and water velocity is available. Unfortunately, in land seismic survey, it is hard to build near surface model in mountain area as there is no adequate information to delineate the reflector, refractor, scatterer and so on in the near surface. In this paper, a wave‐equation‐based filtering method is presented. The key idea of our method is that the coherent noise or interference wave can be predicted based on wave field depth extrapolation and subtracted adaptively. The application to the seismic data in mountain area shows that our approach is promising.Permalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/1.2370111FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2006ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2006 Pages: 3541 publication data© 2006 Copyright © 2006 Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished: 06 Oct 2006 CITATION INFORMATION Ke Benxi, Luo Guoan, Zhao Bo Zhao, and Geng Weifeng, (2006), "Application of the wave‐equation‐based filtering to the seismic data in mountain area," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 2822-2826. https://doi.org/10.1190/1.2370111 Plain-Language Summary PDF DownloadLoading ...
