The Six Months Rehabilitation Cost-Effectiveness Analysis in Stroke Patients

Abstract:Objective:To analyze the stroke patients′ standardized three stages rehabilitation expense with the method of cost-effectiveness analysis.Method: 52 patients firstly were divided into two groups: primary cerebral infarction and primary cerebral hemorrhage, then they were further divided into treated group and controlled group randomly. Patients in the treated group were given standardized three stages rehabilitation, while those in the controlled group were given only normal internal medicine treatments that were the same as in the treated group. All patients would be assessed with the scale of Functional Comprehensive Assessment(FCA), at the admission and the end of 6th month respectively after stroke.Result:In the treated group, one point improvement in motor function, the hospital resident costs,drugs costs(without Chinese traditional drugs),standardized rehabilitation costs,total rehabilitation costs, direct medical costs, and the total costs were $295.13,$126.79,$98.98,$195.41,$563.05, and $843.04 respectively; Every one point improvement in the patients′ cognitive function, were $1852.38,$795.83,$621.28,$1226.52,$3533.96, and $5291.33; Every one point improvement in the patients′ comprehensive function,were $254.57,$109.37,$85.38,$168.56,$485.67, and $727.18 respectively. In the controlled group, Every one point improvement in the patients′ motor function,hospital resident costs, drugs costs (without Chinese traditional drugs), direct medical costs, and total costs were $746.51, $388.55, $1166.51, and $1910.88 differently; Every one point improvement in the patients′ cognitive function, were $4802.39, $2499.59, $7504.29, and $12292.92; Every one point improved in the patients′ comprehensive function, were $646.08,$336.28,$1009.57, and $1653.80. Conclusion:The standardized three stages rehabilitation is an economical and effective medical method in stroke patients.
