Abstract:Alkyne polyhydrosilylations of 1,2-bis(4-dimethylsilanyl-phenyl)-1,2-diphenylethene with 4,4'-diethynylbiphenyl, bis(4-ethynyl-2-methylphenyl)dimethylsilane, 3,6-diethynyl-9-heptylcarbazole, 1,1-dimethyl-2,5-bis(4-ethynylphenyl)-3,4-diphenylsilole, and 2,5-bis(2-trimethylsilylethyl)thiophene were mediated by Rh(PPh3)(3)Cl in THF in an regioselective fashion, furnishing poly(silylenevinylene)s with high molecular weights (M-w up to 36 500) and stereoregularities (E content up to 100%) in satisfactory yields. All the polymers were processable and thermally stable, losing little of their weights when heated to a >= 330 degrees C. Whereas the polymers were weakly emissive M the solutions, they became strong emitters when aggregated in a poor solvents or fabricated as thin films in the solid state, demonstrating a phenomenon of aggregation-enhanced emission. The emission of the polymers were quenched exponentially by picric acid with quenching constant up to 8.48 x 10(5) L mol(-1), making them as highly sensitive chemosensors for explosive detection. Thin films of the polymers exhibited high refractive indices (RI = 1.7180-1.6102) in the wavelength region of 400-1700 nm, high modified Abbe numbers (nu(D)' up to 2303.9), and low optical dispersion (D' down to 0.0004). Their RI values could be tuned to a large extent (Delta n = 0.09), and their emissions could be faded by UV irradiation, enabling ready generation of fluorescent patterns without development.

Abstract:The hydrosilylation reactions of three fluorinated phenoxy-imine ligands, N-(3-allylsalicylidene)-2,6-difluoroaniline(1), N-(3-allylsalicylidene)-2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroaniline(2) and N-(3-allylsalicylidene)-2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoroaniline (3), with triethoxysilane (TES) and 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyltrisiloxane (MDHM) catalyzed by Pt complex (Pt-PMVS) has been studied. Three silylated products bearing Si-OEt bonds were prepared, after optimizing reaction conditions, the product selectivity were in the range of 51%similar to 59%, and followed the order 1>2>3. The products and byproducts were isolated and characterized by FT-IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR,Si- 29 NMR, HRMS, and elemental analysis. As a comparison, other three silylated phenoxy-imine ligands were obtained by hydrosilylation of ligands with MDHM. The product selectivity were around 93%similar to 96%, and the side reactions were substantially suppressed.

Abstract:1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-1-(trimethylsilyloxy)ethylene was reacted with [60]fullerene in air atmosphere and nonpolar solvent (toluene) to form an unpredicted product of cyclopropane [60] fullerene derivative (5). In the presence of polar aprotic solvent, tetrahydrofuran, and under non- oxygen condition, the normal nucleophilic addition product 1,2-substituted [60] fullerene (3) was obtained. A reasonable mechanism has been suggested.

Abstract:[60]Fullerene reacts with imines prepared from substituted benzaldehydes and a - amino acid ester to give isomers of fullerene - fused proline derivatives via 1,3- dipolar cycloaddition. The products were characterized by FT- IR,UV- vis, 1H NMR,13C NMR and TOF- SIMS spectroscopic techniques. The bioactivities of the products were also tested.

Abstract:A novel Ag(I)-induced three-component annulation reaction of [60]fullerene with sulfonylhydrazones and nitriles has been developed for the efficient synthesis of diverse disubstituted [60]fullerene-fused dihydropyrroles. The reaction exhibits a broad substrate scope and excellent functional-group tolerance, and also allows for the synthesis of fullerene-bound macromolecules.

Abstract:Monoaddition of Grignard reagents, in particular tri(organo)silylmethylmagnesium chlorides, to [60]fullerene took place smoothly in the presence of dimethylformamide to produce (organo)(hydro)[60]fullerenes, C60R(1)H, in good yield (up to 93% isolated yield). The hydrofullerene was then deprotonated to generate the corresponding anion, C60R(-), which was then alkylated to obtain 58pi-electron di(organo)[60]fullerenes, C60R(1)R(2), in good to high yield (up to 93% overall yield). The two-step methodology provides a wide variety of 1,4-di(organo)[60] fullerenes bearing the same or different organic addends on the [60] fullerene core. By changing the addends, one can control the chemical and physical properties of the compounds at the molecular and bulk levels.

Abstract:A method for the facile synthesis of tetraaryl-trimethylsilylmethyl-hydro[60]fullerenes, C60Ar4(CH2SiMeR)H, has been developed in which readily prepared anionic mono(silylmethyl) fullerene is subjected to reaction conditions for organocopper-mediated multiple addition. Penta(organo)fullerene derivatives bearing different substituents and diverse functionality were synthesized in moderate to good yield under simple and mild reaction conditions. Further organic and organometallic transformations of these fullerenes allowed us to synthesize transition-metal complexes and a new methanofullerene derivative, 1,9-methano-6,12,15,18-tetraphenyl[60]fullerene, C60Ph4(CH2).

Abstract:A C-60 fullerene open-cage derivative with an 18-membered orifice reacts with electron-rich dienes on the rim of the orifice selectively. Both the mono and the bis adduct have been obtained in good yields by controlling the ratio of the reactants and the reaction time. Single-crystal structures show a head-to-tail and back-to-back dimer for the mono adduct of 1,4-diphenylbutadine and a head-to-tail polymeric chain for the bis adduct of 2,3-dimethylbutadiene.

Asymmetric approach using two catalysts is achieved with excellent enantioselectivities to access corresponding chiral products. Abstract:[reaction: see text] tert-Butylperoxy radicals add to [70]fullerene to form a mixture of adducts C(70)(OO(t)()Bu)(n)() (n = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10). Four isomers were isolated for the bis-adduct with the two tert-butylperoxo groups attached at 1,2-, 5,6-, 7,23-, and 2,5-positions, respectively. Two isomers were isolated for the tetrakis-adduct with the tert-butylperoxo groups located along the equator in C(s)() symmetry and on the side in C(1) symmetry, respectively. Similarly, two isomers were isolated for the hexakis-adducts with a structure related to the tetrakis-adducts, one of which has the cyclopentadienyl substructure. No isomer was detected for the octakis- and decakis-adducts. The C(s)()-symmetric octakis- and C(2)-symmetric decakis-adducts have all the tert-butylperoxo groups located along the equator. The decakis-adduct is the major product under optimized conditions. The compounds were characterized by their spectroscopic data. Chemical correlation through further addition of tert-butylperoxy radicals to isolated pure derivatives confirmed the structure assignment. Mechanisms of the tert-butylperoxy radical addition to C(70) follow two pathways: equatorial addition along the belt and cyclopentadienyl addition on the side.

Abstract:A catalytic enantioselective addition reaction of silyl enol ethers to ketomalonate in the presence of C-2-symmetric copper(II) bisoxazolines as catalysts is presented; the reaction has been studied for different ligands and substrates under various reaction conditions and proceeds in good yield and with ee's > 90% and a procedure for the preparation of an optically active hydroxy acid is shown.

Abstract:An efficient approach for the reversal of regioselectivity in the nucleophilic introduction of difluorinated carbanion into α,β-enones has been developed via a silylium catalysis. The strong electron-withdrawing properties and bulky substituents of in situ-generated silyl triflic imide catalyst is the key for the 1,4-addition reaction to proceed smoothly. The synthetic utility is highlighted by the further use of this method for the synthesis of 2,4,6-triarylsubstituted 3-fluoropyridines in a one-pot manner.

Abstract:Regiodivergent addition reactions provide straightforward and atom-economic approaches to access different regioisomers. However, the regio-chemistry control to access all the possible results is still challenging especially for the reaction involving multiple addition steps. Herein, we reported regio-controllable cobalt-catalyzed sequential hydrosilylation/hydroboration of arylacetylenes, delivering all the possible regio-outcomes with high regioselectivities (up to >20/1 rr for all the cases). Each regioisomer of value-added silylboronates could be efficiently and regioselectively obtained from the same materials. The adjustment of the ligands of cobalt catalysts combined with dual catalysis relay strategy is the key to achieve regio-chemistry control. This regio-controllable research might inspire the exploration of the diversity-oriented synthesis that involves multiple additions and provide full sets of regioisomers of other synthetic useful molecules.

Abstract:Hydrosilylation polymerizations of 1,1-dimethyl-2,5-bis(4-ethynylphenyl)-3,4-diphenylsilole with aromatic silylhydrides including 1,4-bis(dimethylsilyl)benzene, 4,4'-bis(dimethylsilyl) biphenyl, 2,5-bis(dimethylsilyl) thiophene, and 2,7-bis(dimethylsilyl)-9,9-dihexylfluorene in the presence of Rh(PPh3)(3)Cl catalyst in refluxed tetrahydrofuran afford a series of silole-containing poly(silylenevinylene)s. Under optimum condition, the alkyne polyhydrosilylation reactions progress efficiently and regioselectively, yielding polymers with high molecular weights (M-w up to 95,300) and good stereoregularity (E content close to 99%) in high yields (up to 92%). The polymers are processable and thermally stable, with high decomposition temperatures in the range of 420-449 degrees C corresponding to 5% weight loss. They are weakly fluorescent in the solution state but become emissive in the aggregate and film states, demonstrating their aggregation-enhanced emission characteristics. The explosive sensing capabilities of the polymers are examined in both solution and aggregate states. The emissions of the polymers aggregates in aqueous mixture are quenched more efficiently by picric acid in an exponential pattern with high quenching constants (up to 27,949 L mol(-1)), suggesting that the polymers aggregates are sensitive chemosensors for explosive detection. Abstract:A copper-catalyzed regioselective 1,4- and 1,6-conjugate addition of a silyl reagent to diendioates was established. Various 1,4- and 1,6-protosilylation products were obtained in good yields and with high regioselectivity via tuning the ligands used in the reactions. This protocol has provided a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of multisubstituted functionalized allylsilanes.

Abstract:Herein, we present catalyst-regulated switchable site-selective hydrosilylation of enynes, which are suitable for a wide range of alkyl and aryl substituted polar enynes and exhibit excellent functional group compatibility. Under the optimized conditions, silyl groups can be precisely installed at various positions of 1,3-dienes. While a- and γ-silylation products were obtained under platinum-catalytic systems, b-silylation products were delivered with [Cp*RuCl]4 as catalyst. This process leads to the formation of 1,3-dienoates with diverse substitutions, which would pose challenges with other methodologies.

Abstract:Herein, we describe the facile and selective one-pot synthetic route to silylene-aluminum and silylene-gallium adducts. Reduction of silylene LSiCl (L = PhC(NtBu)2) with KC8 in the presence of bulky and sterically hindered cyclopentadienyl aluminum Cp'''AlCl2 (Cp''' = 1,2,4-tBu3C5H2) and gallium [η1-Cp'''Ga(μ-Cl)Cl]2 to afford the Lewis acid-base adducts η1-Cp'''M(Cl2)←Si(L)-SiL (M = Al, 1; M = Ga, 3). To confirm the formation of Lewis acid-base adduct, the bis(silylene) LSi(I)-Si(I)L reacts with Cp'''AlI2 to form η1-Cp'''Al(I2)←Si(L)-SiL (2). These are the first examples where one Si atom in the bis(silylene) is a Lewis base and coordinates with aluminum or gallium to form a Lewis acid-base adduct, while the other Si atom in the bis(silylene) still maintains the characteristics of silylene. Compound 3 was heated to 70 °C in toluene for 4 hours and decomposed into the silylene LSiCl and Cp'''GaI.
