Retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgical treatments for duplex kidney anomalies(a report of 13 cases)

Abstract:【Objective】To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery for duplex kidney anomalies.【Methods】Clinical data of 13 cases of duplex kidney anomalies were retrospectively analyzed.3 cases were male and 10 cases were female.The average age was 18 years,ranging from 6 to 47 years.The duplex kidneys were all on the upper kidney pole.7 cases were on the left side,3 cases on the right side and 3 cases were in bilateral sides.All the cases were preoperatively diagnosed by imaging.Retroperitoneal laparoscopic hem-inephroureterectomy was performed on 9 patients and extravesical ureterovesical reimplantation under submucosal tunnel was performed on 4 patients.The operation time,blood loss,intraoperative and postoperative complications and efficacy were observed.【Results】All the retroperitoneal laparoscopic procedures were successfully completed.The unilateral operation time was(115±24) minutes,blood loss was(48±21) mL,postoperative hospital stay was(6.1±1.6) days.No intraoperative or postoperative complication was found.At follow-up ranging from 3 to 12 months,intravenous urography or MRU showed that low role renal function was well and symptoms were all improved.【Conclusion】 Retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgeries are safe,minimally invasive and effective approaches for duplex kidney anomalies.
