Research on the policy optimization problems in system dynamics model

Abstract:System dynamics is an important approach and theory to explore the behaviors of complex system. The policy optimization problems in a system dynamics model, however, still follow the "cut-and-try" method, and are difficult to get the optimal solution satisfactorily. This paper studies the policy optimization in system dynamics model. Firstly, a general formulation of policy optimization problem in system dynamics models is presented by introducing a control policy function. Secondly, based on the general formulation presented above, a way to resolve the policy optimization problem with genetic algorithms is addressed.
