Abstract:Multiple factors are involved with perioperative morbidity and mortality,for which anesthesiologists should hold more obligations.Though the safety of current anesthesia itself has been dramatically enhanced,further improvement is required and expected.For the purpose of perioperative safety,anesthesiology should be defined as a key subject for the safety protection of the whole surgical medicine.Updating anesthesiology to perioperative medicine,standardizing anesthesia practice,and strengthening and optimizing the management system are primary strategies for anesthesia quality and assurance.
