Abstract:Even though multimodal imaging system has already been applied in clinic, the PET-MRI still is a revolutionary progress of medical imaging, and it is a landmark after PET-CT imaging equipment. MRI not only can solve the limitations of CT, but also can provide abundant morphology and function information; at the same time, PET also play important role in the diagnosis of tumor, nervous system diseases and cardiovascular disease; and in the treatment decision, treatment effect evaluation and prognosis evaluation when it is applied in research of physiological and disease state at the levels of molecular activity and metabolism of human body. With the rapid development of science and technology, this article has summarized the imaging technology and clinical application of PET-MRI in recent years.

Abstract:Imaging plays an increasingly important role in the early diagnosis, prognosis prediction and therapy response evaluation of central nervous system (CNS) diseases. The newly emerging hybrid positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MRI) can perform “one-stop-shop” evaluation, including anatomic, functional, biochemical and metabolic information, even at the molecular level, for personalised diagnoses and treatments of CNS diseases. However, there are still several problems to be resolved, such as appropriate PET detectors, attenuation correction and so on. This review will introduce the basic physical principles of PET/MRI and its potential clinical applications in the CNS. We also provide the future perspectives for this field.

Abstract:Radiomics provides a quantitative method to analyze the high-dimensional extractable data in medical images.Driven by the development of big data analysis and artificial intelligence, radiomics has developed rapidly and obtained remarkable progress in the field of tumor diagnosis and treatment in nuclear medicine recently.Radiomics still faces many challenges when it is considered for the clinical application.This review summarizes the research progress of radiomics in the prognosis evaluation of tumor using positron emission tomography(PET)imaging, as well as the challenges and future prospects, further it aims to provide some reference for the accurate medical analysis of PET imaging.

Abstract:Objective:To compare dual-model PET/MRI with other molecular imaging techniques.Methods:Molecular imaging techniques,which combined the progress of molecular medicine and imaging technology,has promoted the development of medical science.Single-and multi-model molecular imaging techniques mainly include PET/MRI,Optimal imaging,PET/CT,SPECT/CT,SPECT/MRI and Ultrasound molecular imaging.We reviewed the applications of these molecular imaging techniques in the field of pre-clinical research and clinical trials.Results:The charming advantages of dual-model PET/MRI are in the area of oncology,cardiology and neurology,and plenty of molecular information had been provided by it.Conclusion:The progress of multi-model molecular imaging equipments will promote the whole medical science.PET/MRI could reveal more unknown mysterious for us.

Abstract:PET/CT which combines the functional metabolic information provided by PET with the anatomic morphological information obtained from CT, can simultaneously show both patho- physiological and structural changes, and therefore significantly increase the accuracy of the diagnosis. Abstract:Single nuclear medicine functional imaging (including SPECT and PET) couldn't fully meet the demand of clinical diagnosis because of its own limits, thus the multimodality imaging equipment integrated anatomical and functional images has became the development trend of the nuclear medicine and even the entire medical imaging. Following the earliest SPECT-CT and PET-CT which having been widely used in clinic, the newest PET-MR has also been applied to clinical practice. PET-MR combined MR images with PET function image is substantial to the clinical diagnosis of cerebral nervous system diseases, cardiovascular system diseases and tumor, etc. In this paper, we reviewed the current application situation and prospects of PET-MR in cerebral nervous system diseases.

Abstract:Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as one of the most important imaging methods is widely used in clinical diagnosis and basic life science research, with advantages including noninvasiveness, high/multiple soft tissue contrast, parametric imaging and the richness of information. During recent years, there have been many advances in the instrument technology and biomedical application of MRI. Advanced techniques, such as ultra-high field, ultra-fast and ultra-sensitive imaging, are now available for routine clinical usage and research settings. Also, the MRI technology is rapidly developing via incorporating with multiple cutting-edge disciplines including big data technology, artificial intelligence and theranostics. Currently, MRI is playing an indispensable role in tumor molecular imaging, functional brain imaging and brain connectome studies. This paper introduces the history and basic principles of MRI, and summarizes the important problems in the research of MRI instrument, methodology and application, providing a perspective on the directions of future MRI research in China.

Abstract:Integrated PET/MR is one of cutting-edge technologies in functional and molecular imaging. A review of the current development status of integrated PET/MR products can provide inspiration and promote the development of related fields. This study introduced the technical characteristics and research and development difficulties of integrated PET/MR products from both hardware and software aspects, summarized the publication of English and Chinese papers related to the clinical application of PET/MR products from 2008 to 2022, analysed the differences and current status of clinical application of integrated PET/MR products at home and abroad, and pointed out the development status and direction of integrated PET/MR products in China. Finally, the development of integrated PET/MR products was discussed in terms of technology, clinical application prospects, and market strategies.

Abstract:Objective: This paper reviews the current status and future development of positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance (PET/MR) co-imaging technology in the field of cardiovascular diseases. Material and methods: By combining PET and MRI, PET/MR co-imaging provides comprehensive assessment advantages by simultaneously offering functional and anatomical information. Results: Firstly, the basic principles of PET/MR are introduced, and the current state is discussed. Subsequently, a detailed discussion on the application of PET/MR in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, including early detection and comprehensive assessment of conditions like coronary artery disease and myocarditis, is presented. Finally, the challenges and future prospects in PET/MR applications are outlined. Conclusion: Despite facing several technical challenges, PET/MR co-imaging technology is expected to play a crucial role in the early diagnosis, treatment, and research of cardiovascular diseases, paving the way for new directions and possibilities in future medical imaging research.

Abstract:Breast cancer is a major disease with high morbidity and mortality in women worldwide. Increased use of imaging biomarkers has been shown to add more information with clinical utility in the detection and evaluation of breast cancer. To date, numerous studies related to PET-based imaging in breast cancer have been published. Here, we review available studies on the clinical utility of different PET-based molecular imaging methods in breast cancer diagnosis, staging, distant-metastasis detection, therapeutic and prognostic prediction, and evaluation of therapeutic responses. For primary breast cancer, PET/MRI performed similarly to MRI but better than PET/CT. PET/CT and PET/MRI both have higher sensitivity than MRI in the detection of axillary and extra-axillary nodal metastases. For distant metastases, PET/CT has better performance in the detection of lung metastasis, while PET/MRI performs better in the liver and bone. Additionally, PET/CT is superior in terms of monitoring local recurrence. The progress in novel radiotracers and PET radiomics presents opportunities to reclassify tumors by combining their fine anatomical features with molecular characteristics and develop a beneficial pathway from bench to bedside to predict the treatment response and prognosis of breast cancer. However, further investigation is still needed before application of these modalities in clinical practice. In conclusion, PET-based imaging is not suitable for early-stage breast cancer, but it adds value in identifying regional nodal disease and distant metastases as an adjuvant to standard diagnostic imaging. Recent advances in imaging techniques would further widen the comprehensive and convergent applications of PET approaches in the clinical management of breast cancer.

Abstract:Coronary artery disease is the major cause of death in developed countries. PET myocardial perfusion image has become more important in the diagnosis and risk stratification for coronary artery disease patients. The available evidence supported that PET is the "gold standard" for detecting myocardial perfusion, comparing to other noninvasive assessment techniques. Its ability to quantify absolute myocardial blood flow and evaluate left ventricle function from rest to stress provides an extra value in multi-vessel disease and prognosis. As the development of scanners, software, novel radiotracers, hybrid imaging technique and the emerging clinical evidence, the clinical application of PET will be further enhanced in the near future. This review summarized clinical application of PET myocardial perfusion imaging and its new developments.

Abstract:Multimodality imaging with PET-CTand SPECT-CT has become commonplace in clinical practice and in preclinical and basic biomedical research.Although PET-CT is already an established clinical tool it still bears some limitations.To overcome these limitations, recent research concentrates on the combination of PET and MRI into one single machine.Combined PET-MRI allows for multi-parametric imaging and reveals one or more functional processes simultaneously along with high-resolution morphology.Especially in small-animal research, where high soft tissue contrast is required, and the scan time as well as radiation dose are critical factors, the combination of PET and MRI would be beneficial compared with PET-CT.
