We also relate these graded bialgebra deformations with the corresponding graded bialgebra cohomology groups, which is the graded version of the one due to Gerstenhaber and Schack.

Abstract:The main purpose of this article is to develop an explicit derived deformation theory of algebraic structures at a high level of generality, encompassing in a common framework various kinds of algebras (associative, commutative, Poisson...) or bialgebras (associative and coassociative, Lie, Frobenius...), that is algebraic structures parametrized by props. A central aspect is that we define and study moduli spaces of deformations of algebraic structures up to quasi-isomorphisms (and not just isotopies or isomorphisms). To do so, we implement methods coming from derived algebraic geometry, by encapsulating these deformation theories as classifying (pre)stacks with good infinitesimal properties and derived formal geometry, by means of derived formal moduli problems and derived formal groups. In particular, we prove that the Lie algebra describing the deformation theory of an object in a given $\infty$-category of dg algebras can be obtained equivalently as the tangent complex of loops on a derived quotient of this moduli space by the homotopy automorphims of this object. Moreover, we provide explicit formulae for such derived deformation problems of algebraic structures up to quasi-isomorphisms and relate them in a precise way to other standard deformation problems of algebraic structures. This relation is given by a fiber sequence of the associated dg-Lie algebras of their deformation complexes. Our results provide simultaneously a vast generalization of standard deformation theory of algebraic structures which is suitable (and needed) to set up algebraic deformation theory both at the $\infty$-categorical level and at a higher level of generality than algebras over operads. In addition, we study a general criterion to compare formal moduli problems of different algebraic structures and apply our formalism to $E_n$-algebras and bialgebras.

Abstract:We introduce cohomology and deformation theories for a bialgebra A (over a commutative unital ring k) such that the second cohomology group is the space of infinitesimal deformations. Our theory gives a natural identification between the underlying k-modules of the original and the deformed bialgebra. Certain explicit deformation formulas are given for the construction of quantum groups--i.e., Hopf algebras that are neither commutative nor cocommutative (whether or not they arise from quantum Yang-Baxter operators). These formulas yield, in particular, all GLq(n) and SLq(n) as deformations of GL(n) and SL(n). Using a Hodge decomposition of the underlying cochain complex, we compute our cohomology for GL(n). With this, we show that every deformation of GL(n) is equivalent to one in which the comultiplication is unchanged, not merely on elements of degree one but on all elements (settling in the strongest way a decade-old conjecture) and in which the quantum determinant, as an element of the underlying k-module, is identical with the usual one.

Abstract:This paper studies the formal deformations of differential algebra morphisms. As a consequence, we develop a cohomology theory of differential algebra morphisms to interpret the lower degree cohomology groups as formal deformations. Then, we prove the Cohomology Comparison Theorem of differential algebra morphisms, i.e., the cohomology of a morphism of differential algebras is isomorphic to the cohomology of an auxiliary differential algebra. Finally, we can give a minimal model for morphism of differential algebras with weight=0.

Abstract:Deformations of a Courant Algebroid E and its Dirac subbundle A have been widely considered under the assumption that the pseudo-Euclidean metric is fixed. In this paper, we attack the same problem in a setting that allows the pseudo-Euclidean metric to deform. Thanks to Roytenberg, a Courant algebroid is equivalent to a symplectic graded Q-manifold of degree 2. From this viewpoint, we extend the notions of graded Q-manifold, DGLA and L_\infty-algebra all to "blended" version so that Poisson manifold, Lie algebroid and Courant algebroid are unified as blended Q-manifolds; and define a submaniold A of "coisotropic type" which naturally generalizes the concepts of coisotropic submanifolds, Lie subalgebroids and Dirac subbundles. It turns out the deformations a blended homological vector field Q is controlled by a blended DGLA, and the deformations of A is controlled by a blended L_\infty-algebra. The results apply to the deformations of a Courant algebroid and its Dirac structures, the deformations of a Poisson manifold and its coisotropic submanifold, the deformations of a Lie algebroid and its Lie subalgebroid.

The geometric deformation of curved $L_\infty$ algebras and Lie algebroids

Abstract:We investigate the deformation of an $L_\infty$ structure that encodes the geometric information about a smooth vector bundle. We establish that this specific type of deformation endows the bundle with a Lie algebroid structure. Additionally, we compute the Atiyah class and Atiyah-Chern classes in the geometrically deformed case. The precise relationship between the first Atiyah-Chern class and the modular class is shown. In the case of action Lie algebroids, the Atiyah-Chern classes at the leading order are given by the equivariant Chern characters.

A unified approach to some rigidity and stability problems in algebra

Abstract:In this note, we use give some algebraic applications of a previous result by the author which compares the deformations parameterized by the Maurer-Cartan elements of a differential graded Lie algebra, and a differential graded Lie subalgebra: It gives a criterion for the map on the space of Maurer-Cartan elements up to gauge equivalence, induced by the inclusion of the subalgebra, to be locally surjective. By making appropriate choices for the differential graded Lie algebra and a differential graded Lie subalgebra, we recover some classical results in the deformation theory of finite-dimensional Lie and associative algebras. We consider rigidity of Lie and associative algebras, Lie algebra morphisms, and give a quick proof of the fact that the deformation theories of a unital associative algebra as a unital associative algebra and as an associative algebra are equivalent. We then turn to stability of Lie subalgebras and their morphisms under deformations of the ambient Lie algebra structure, and study when the compatibility with a geometric structure of a representation of a Lie algebra on a vector space is stable under deformations of the representation.

Abstract:We introduce a class of dg-algebras which generalize the classical Brauer graph algebras. They are constructed from mixed-angulations of surfaces and often admit a (relative) Calabi--Yau structure. We discovered these algebras through two very distinct routes, one involving perverse schobers whose stalks are cyclic quotients of the derived categories of relative Ginzburg algebras, and another involving deformations of partially wrapped Fukaya categories of surfaces. Applying the results of our previous work <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2303.18249" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.18249">arXiv:2303.18249</a>, we describe the spaces of stability conditions on the derived categories of these algebras in terms of spaces of quadratic differentials.

Two geometric models for graded skew-gentle algebras

Abstract: In Part 1, we classify (indecomposable) objects in the perfect derived category $\mathrm{per}\Lambda$ of a graded skew-gentle algebra $\Lambda$, generalizing technique/results of Burban-Drozd and Deng to the graded setting. We also use the usual punctured marked surface $\mathbf{S}^\lambda$ with grading (and a full formal arc system) to give a geometric model for this classification. In Part2, we introduce a new surface $\mathbf{S}^\lambda_*$ with binaries from $\mathbf{S}^\lambda$ by replacing each puncture $P$ by a boundary component $*_P$ (called a binary) with one marked point, and composing an equivalent relation $D_{*_P}^2=\mathrm{id}$, where $D_{*_p}$ is the Dehn twist along $*_P$. Certain indecomposable objects in $\mathrm{per}\Lambda$ can be also classified by graded unknotted arcs on $\mathbf{S}^\lambda_*$. Moreover, using this new geometric model, we show that the intersections between any two unknotted arcs provide a basis of the morphisms between the corresponding arc objects, i.e. formula $\mathrm{Int}=\mathrm{dim}\mathrm{Hom}$ holds.

In this paper, we construct a differential graded Lie algebra whose Maurer–Cartan elements are given by crossed homomorphisms on Leibniz algebras. This allows us to define cohomology for a crossed homomorphism. Finally, we study linear deformations, formal deformations and extendibility of finite order deformations of a crossed homomorphism in terms of the cohomology theory.

Abstract:An involutive Lie bialgebra induces a Batalin-Vilkovisky operator on its exterior algebra. We introduce a graded generalization of the necklace Lie bialgebra, which depends on a choice of a quiver $Q$. We relate the resulting Batalin-Vilkovisky structure to the Batalin-Vilkovisky structure coming from a degree $-1$ symplectic form on a suitably defined representation variety of the quiver $Q$. The morphism intertwining these Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras will be given by a twisted trace, recovering the usual (super)trace and the odd trace.

Abstract:Motivated by an equivalence of categories established by Kapranov and Schechtman, we introduce, for each non-negative integer d, the category of connected bialgebras modulo d+1. We show that these categories fit into an inverse system of categories whose inverse limit category is equivalent to the category of connected bialgebras. In addition, we extend the notion of approximation of connected bialgebras to those that are not necessarily generated in degree 1 and show that, for connected bialgebras in the category of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over a Hopf algebra, approximation is compatible with cocycle twisting.

Abstract:Abstract We prove that dg manifolds of finite positive amplitude, that is, bundles of positively graded curved $L_{\infty }[1]$-algebras, form a category of fibrant objects. As a main step in the proof, we obtain a factorization theorem using path spaces. First we construct an infinite-dimensional factorization of a diagonal morphism using actual path spaces motivated by the AKSZ construction. Then we cut down to finite dimensions using the Fiorenza-Manetti method. The main ingredient in our method is the homotopy transfer theorem for curved $L_{\infty }[1]$-algebras. As an application, we study the derived intersections of manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper, we first use the graded Lie algebra for relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie algebras to give the graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize $\mathfrak s$-matrices on pre-Lie algebras. Then we give the cohomology of $\mathfrak s$-matrices and study their deformations. As an application, we study the deformations of phase spaces of Lie algebras via $\mathfrak s$-matrices.

Abstract:In this paper, we first introduce the notions of a compatible Lie triple system and its representation. We construct a bidifferential graded Lie algebra whose Maurer–Cartan elements are compatible Lie triple systems. We also obtain the bidifferential graded Lie algebra which controls deformations of a compatible Lie triple system. Then we investigate the cohomology theory of compatible Lie triple systems and consider the connection between the cohomology group of compatible Lie triple systems and the cohomology group of Lie triple systems. Furthermore, we develop the 1-parameter formal deformation theory of compatible Lie triple systems and prove that it is governed by the cohomology groups. At last, we study abelian extensions of compatible Lie triple systems and classify them by the second cohomology group.

Abstract:We analyse infinitesimal deformations of morphisms of locally free sheaves on a smooth projective variety $X$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. In particular, we describe a differential graded Lie algebra controlling the deformation problem. As an application, we study infinitesimal deformations of pairs given by a locally free sheaf and a subspace of it sections with a view towards Brill-Noether theory.

Abstract:It is well-known that DG-enhancements of the unbounded derived category of quasi-coherent sheaves on a scheme X are all equivalent to each other. Here we present an explicit model which leads to applications in deformation theory. In particular, we shall describe three models for derived endomorphisms of a quasi-coherent sheaf on a finite-dimensional Noetherian separated scheme (even if does not admit a locally free resolution). Moreover, these complexes are endowed with DG-Lie algebra structures, which we prove to control infinitesimal deformations of .

Abstract:In this paper we study deformations of $C^*$-algebras that are given as cross-sectional $C^*$-algebras of Fell bundles $\mathcal{A}$ over locally compact groups $G$. Our deformation comes from a direct deformation of the Fell bundles $\mathcal{A}$ via certain parameters, like automorphisms of the Fell bundle, group cocycles, or central group extensions of $G$ by the circle group $\mathbb{T}$, and then taking cross-sectional algebras of the deformed Fell bundles. We then show that this direct deformation method is equivalent to the deformation via the dual coactions by similar parameters as studied previously in [4,7].

Abstract:We develop a deformation theory for finite-dimensional left-symmetric color algebras, which can be used to construct more new algebraic structures and interpret left-symmetric color cohomology spaces of lower degrees. We explore equivalence classes and extendability of deformations for a fixed left-symmetric color algebra, demonstrating that each infinitesimal deformation is nontrivially extendable if the third cohomology subspace of degree zero is trivial. We also study Nijenhuis operators and Rota-Baxter operators on a left-symmetric color algebra, providing a better understanding of the equivalence class of the trivial infinitesimal deformation.
