Abstract:1-Methoxycyclohexene was prepared from cyclohexanone by reaction with dimethyl orthoformate to give 1,1-dimethoxycyclohexane, which subjected to cleavage using BPO4 as catalyst in a fixed bed at 240℃under reduced pressure with an overall yield of 83 %.

Abstract:Cyclohexanone diethyl acetal is widely used as pharmaceutical intermediates, and it may be pyrolyzed to give 1-ethoxy cyclohexene which could be used in synthesizing both polymer material and pharmaceutical intermediates. Cyclohexanone diethyl acetal was prepared from cyclohexanone with anhydrous ethanol as reactant, ammonium chloride as catalyst, triethyl orthoformate as water scavenger. The proposed method, which is preferable for green process, has many advantages such as the catalyst used is cheap and easily obtained, the post treatment of the process is convenient, the process has few industrial waste and high yield, etc. The suitable technical conditions were investigated in detail, which include the effects of catalyst, reaction time and reactants mole ratio on yield. The results indicate that 91.8% yield could be obtained with the following optimal reaction conditions: cyclohexanone weight 29.4 g (0.3 mol), the mole ratio of cyclohexanone and triethyl orthoformate 1:1.2, the mole ratio of cyclohexanone and anhydrous ethanol 1: 3, the reaction time 90 minutes, the amount of catalyst 0.006 mole, and reaction with reflux. The purity and structure of the product was examined by GC GC-MS and NMR.

Abstract:In this paper, 1,2-cyclohexanedione was synthesized through oxidization of cyclohexanone by isopropyl nitrite in acidic medium. The effects of the ratio of isopropyl nitrite and cyclohexanone, and the concentration of H2SO4 and cyclohexanone on the reaction were investigated. Under the optimized reaction conditions, the yield of 1,2-cyclohexanedione reached 76%.

Abstract:A series of heterogeneous catalysts with Cr as an active component is prepared by an innovative in situ coprecipitation method. The prepared Cr/SiO2catalyst has high catalytic activity, selectivity, and stability in the conversion of cyclohexane into ketone-alcohol oil using H2O2as the oxidant under mild conditions, resulting in 54.59% cyclohexane conversion and 90.01% ketone-alcohol oil selectivity. The physical and chemical properties of the prepared materials are studied by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis (BET). The excellent performance of the Cr/SiO2-400 catalyst is due to the increase of low-valence chromium species and the intimate interaction between SiO2and CrOx. In addition, the catalyst was easy to separate and maintained good catalytic activity even after four runs.

Abstract:5-[2-(ethylthio)propyl]-1,3-cyclohexanedione, the title compound of this study, is an important intermediate for preparation of 3-hydroxy-cyclohex-2-enones herbicides, such as clethodim, sethoxydim, cloproxydim, etc.. The optimization of the synthesis route and the preparation method of the title compound were studied and the results were described concisely as follows. Firstly, 3-ethylthiobutanal was prepared with high yield by reacting crotonaldehyde with ethanethiol in triethylamine. Secondly, methyl acetoacetate was converted to 6-ethylthiohept-3-en-2-one via three steps, hydrolysis, condensation with 3-ethylthiobutanal and dehydration, then the 6-ethylthiohept-3-en-2-one was cyclocondensed with di-Me malonate by Michael addition and Clasisen condensation, and further via saponification and decarboxylation , the title compound was obtained. The products of each steps and the final title compound obtained were compared with each its own standerd samples and were confirmed by LC/MS.

Abstract:Methyl 3-oxo-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-ene-1-carboxylate was synthesised over eight steps from the starting material of citral instead of α-ionone. KMnO4, HC(OEt)3 and O2/TEMPO/CuCl were substituted for NaIO4, CH3I and pyridinium chlorochromate, respectively. Every step was simplified and gave a 48% overall yield. The procedure is suitable for large scale production.

Abstract:Cyclopentylamine was prepared through cyclopentanore catalytic hydrogenation aminolysis in fixed bed under the pressurized condition.The effect of kinds of catalyst,pressure,temperature,materials ratio on the synthesis was studied,the optimal condition of hydroamination of cyclopentanone were found.Cu-Co-Ni/active Al2O3 as catalyst,n(hydrogen) ∶n(ammonia) ∶n(cyclopentanone)=10 ∶5 ∶1,at temperature of 240 ℃ and pressure of 0.9 MPa.The total yield was 89.7%,and the purity of the product was 99.7%.

Abstract:Bicyclo[3.2.1]octane-2,4-dione was synthesized using 2-norbornanone via Mannich reaction, Baeyer-Villiger reaction and self-condensation reaction. Steam distillation is used in Mannich reaction for product separation and to facilitate the transformation of intermediates into product, which combines reaction and separation together. Moreover, variation of addition sequence of methanol and hydrogen peroxide in Baeyer-Villiger reaction can improve product yields by avoiding excessive oxidation. The total yield of the final product is 61.5% under optimized conditions.

Abstract:Improved synthesis of 4-benzylidene-2,6-di-tert-butylcyclohexa-2,5-dienone has been developed. The dropwise addition of secondary amines was shown to reduce the dosages of amines drastically. In optimized conditions, the dosages of the catalysts were only 0.3–0.5 M of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol. Removing the water generated in the step of Mannich base formation was found to hugely accelerate the whole reaction and improve the product yield. The catalytic activity of several annular secondary amines including morpholine and piperidine in this reaction has been researched. Most of the amines led to good yields. Using this method, 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol reacted with a wide range of aromatic aldehydes to produce nine diverse 4-benzylidene-2,6-di-tert-butylcyclohexa-2,5-dienone derivatives of up to 75 % yield.

Abstract:The compound 4-[2′-(trans-4″-pentylcyclohexyl)ethyl]- cyclohexanone was synthesized from trans-4-pentylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid via eight step reactions,namely reduction with lithium aluminium hydride,substitution of hydroxyl by bromine,Grignard reaction,dehydration reaction,catalytic hydrogenation,demethylation,catalytic high-pressure hydrogenation and oxidation with sodium dichromate.The mass fraction of the product by GC was 99.1% and the melting point was 40.9 ℃.Structure of the compound was determined by IR, 1H-NMR and IE. The synthesized substance can be used as an important intermediate for multi-ring system liquid crystal compounds containing ethylene linkage.
Rhodium(III)-Catalyzed Asymmetric Borylative Cyclization of Cyclohexadienone-Containing 1,6-Dienes: An Experimental and DFT Study.

Abstract:Because of the inherent difficulty in differentiating two olefins, the development of metal-catalyzed asymmetric cyclization of 1,6-dienes remains challenging. Herein, we describe the first rhodium(III)-catalyzed asymmetric borylative cyclization of cyclohexadienone-tethered mono-, 1,1di-, and (E)-1,2-disubstituted alkenes (1,6-dienes), affording optically pure cis-bicyclic skeletons bearing three or four contiguous stereocenters with high yields (25-93%), and excellent diastereoselectivities (>20:1 dr) and enantioselectivities (90-99% ee). This mild catalytic approach is generally compatible with a wide range of functional groups, which allows several facile conversions of the cyclization products. Furthermore, on the basis of our SAESI-MS experiment and computational study, a Rh(I)/(III) catalytic cycle is proposed in this tandem reaction, and the Rh(I) active species catalyzes the overall transformation via sequential oxidative addition of B(2)pin(2), olefin insertion, cyclizing conjugate addition, and reductive elimination. The irreversible conjugate addition determines the overall regioselectivity of borylative cyclization, and the ring strain favors the formation of 5,6-bicyclic structure. This highlights the control of ring strain in diene cyclizations, which provides a useful basis for future reaction designs.

Abstract:An efficient, one-pot protocol for the synthesis of highly functionalized cyclopentenols has been accomplished starting from vinylethylene carbonates and bissulfonylmethanes. This protocol proceeds via sequential palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative allylation and oxidative cyclization in an operationally simple manner. A wide range of substrates is well-accommodated to afford diverse cyclopentenols in moderate to good yields with excellent selectivity. Further control experiments demonstrated that the selective formation of the isolatable (Z)-allyl alcohols (up to Z/E = >19:1) underlies the success of the subsequent cascade oxidation-cyclization.

Abstract:The catalytic synthesis of cyclohexene by dehydration of cyclohexanol using NaHSO_4·H_2O, SnCl_4·5H_2O, p-tolenesulfonic acid, aluminosilicate,solid superacid, modified bentonite and zeolites as catalysts were introduced. It showed that p-tolenesulfonic acid, aluminosilicate, solid superacid, modified bentonite were excellent catalysts for synthesis of cyclohexene with higher yields and had certain application prospect.

Abstract:A new process to prepare cyclohexanol from benzene has been developed by a three-step approach. First, the benzene is selectively hydrogenated to cyclohexene by using soluble Ru nanoparticles as catalyst. Second, the epoxidation of cyclohexene can be achieved by literature methods. Then, in the end, the hydrogenation of cyclohexane oxide was performed by using anhydrous Raney-Ni as catalyst. It was found that in step one and three, the overall yield to produce cylohexanol from benzene reaches 14% under the optimized reaction conditions.

Abstract:Cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN)-mediated oxidation of methylenecyclobutanes was investigated. Compared with the similar reactions of methylenecyclopropanes, the reaction products were quite different. Instead of the desired ring-enlarged product cyclopentanones, a cyclobutyl ring-intact product, spirocyclobutyl-1,2-dioxethane, was obtained. The structures of these spiroheterocycle-containing compounds are interesting, and the reactions are potentially valuable in both organic synthesis and mechanism research.

Abstract:Cylcohexanol is an essential bulk chemical that can be produced via cyclohexene hydration, a liquid-liquid two-phase reaction that is limited by the low reaction rate and the equilibrium conversion. Adding an appropriate solvent is the most promising method to break through these limitations. However, in previous works the solvent was almost blindly selected without a global consideration. In this work, a rational multiscale method is proposed for the effective selection of an economical and sustainable solvent for the direct hydration of cyclohexene. At the molecular scale, liquid-liquid phase equilibrium was estimated using group contribution methods to rapidly screen the potential solvent candidates from a range of organics, based on the partition coefficient. At the reactor scale, the candidates were experimentally investigated to pick out the solvents that could significantly improve the conversion, without introducing side reactions or deactivating the catalyst. At the process scale, the total annual cost (TAC), CO 2 emission, and other metrics were calculated to evaluate the eco-efficiency of all solvents. Using this multi-scale method, acetophenone was selected as an eco-efficient solvent from over 100 organics, resulting in the reduction of TAC by 8 % and CO 2 emission by 17 % in the production process. Using acetophenone also led to the increase of cyclohexanol yield from 12.3 % to 27.6 % without the occurrence of side reactions and catalyst deactivation.

Abstract:Cyclohexene is a widely used organic compound.A study on catalysts for synthesis of cyclohexene has great influence on cyclohexene production.The preparation methods of cyclohexene by catalytic dehydration of cyclohexanol using p-toluenesulfonic acid,benzenesulfonic acid,methanesulfonic acid,solid supported methanesulfonic acid,strongly acidic cationic exchange resin,ferric chloride hexahydrate,stannic chloride pentahydrate,stannous chloride dihydrate,aluminum chloride,aluminum silicate,activated carbon supported elementary iodine,zirconium sulfate,Ti4+-cationic exchange resin,sodium bisulfate monohydrate,potassium bisulfate,solid super acid,heteropoly acid,molecular sieve,ionic liquid,and so on as catalyst respectively are reviewed.It is pointed out that the solid super acid,heteropoly acid and molecular sieve are excellent catalysts for preparing cyclohexene by dehydration of cyclohexanol.

Abstract:Epoxidation reaction catalyzed by dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC) was realized in a microflow system, resulting in cyclohexene oxide with high yields. In this study, the epoxidation process of cyclohexene in MFS was investigated in detail. The optimal yield was obtained in such conditions: temperature 80 degrees C, residence time 12 min, catalyst concentration 3%, ratio of cyclohexene to UHP 1:8. Basic additions played an important role in the collapse of adducts.

Abstract:A synthetic method for 2-formylcyclopent-2-enecarboxylic acid is described. This procedure comprises two steps. The first step is a [2 + 2] cyclo-addition reaction, and the second step is a hydrolysis and ring-opening reaction. A plausible mechanism of the hydrolysis and ring-opening reaction was supposed. Then, the effects of different solvents, base mol ratio, concentration of base, and reaction temperature on the yield of the second step were studied. Finally, under the obtained optimized conditions, the product was achieved and isolated in 59.4 % yield, which was more than double the ones reported previously. An improved and efficient procedure for the synthesis of 2-formylcyclopent-2-enecarboxylic acid has been developed.
Direct Synthesis of Bifunctionalized Hexagonal Mesoporous Silicas and Its Catalytic Performance for Aerobic Oxidation of Cyclohexane

Abstract:According to the characteristics of the cyclohexane oxidation reaction a series of bifunctionalized hexagonal mesoporous silicas, CoPh-HMS, were designed and successfully synthesized by a one-step co-condensation route. The results of small-angle XRD, TEM, and N-2 adsorption-desorption measurements showed that the resultant materials had well-ordered mesoscopic structures. Co2+ ions were incorporated into the frameworks in tetrahedral coordination along with phenyl groups immobilized on the surface, confirmed by a careful spectroscopic (FT-IR, UV-visible, and Si-29 MAS NMR) study. The surfaces of the materials were proved to be more hydrophobic with higher Ph loading, and the largest water droplet contact angle is tip to 110.50 degrees. These materials were applied in the liquid-phase oxidation of cyclohexane with molecular oxygen as oxidant and tert-butyl hydroperoxide as initiator Linder solvent-free conditions. High activity could be obtained with these bifunctionalized catalysts being used. The modification effect of phenyl groups played an important role in the activity enhancement.
