Abstract:Objective To investigate the potential of using everStick fiber-reinforced composite veneer to restore tetracycline pigmentation teeth. Materials 20 patients with 80 tetracycline pigmentation teeth were ran-domly assigned to experimental group and control group (10 patients in each group). We prepared maxillary incisor teeth based on the standard procedure, forged veneers with either everStick fiber-reinforced composite (experi-mental group)or 3M-reinforced composite (control group), and bonded veneer with tooth using the Kerr All-etch-ing bonding system. During the next6-30-month follow-up, aesthetic restoration was examined every 6 months based on the improved Ryge standard. We used the gingival bleeding index (GI), the sulcus bleeding index (SBI) and the plaque index (PLI )to evaluate the color stability, the marginal accuracy and the physical condition of the gingival, and tested whether the two types of veneers performed differently. Results In the experimental group, veneers exhibited good margin and unchanged color with no signs of loosening, de-bonding fracture or secondary caries. In the control group, 5 veneers fell off, and 2 veneers were fractured, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The GI, the SBI and the PLI in the experimental group were significantly small-er than the control group, and this difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Compared with 3M-reinforced compositeveneers, veneers made of everStick fiber-reinforced composites had better mechanical strength and color stability, with less gingival irritation, and patients had better periodontal health.
