Abstract:Both coherence and entanglement stem from the superposition principle, capture quantumness of a physical system, and play a central role in quantum physics. In a multipartite quantum system, coherence and quantum correlations are closely connected. In particular, it has been established that quantum coherence of a bipartite state is an important resource for its conversion to entanglement [A. Streltsov {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 115}, 020403 (2015)] and to quantum discord [J. Ma {\it et al}., Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 116}, 160407 (2016)]. We show here that there is a very close association between partial coherence introduced by Luo and Sun [S. Luo and Y. Sun, Phys. Rev. A {\bf 96}, 022136 (2017)] and quantum correlations (quantified by quantum discord) in both directions. Furthermore, we propose families of coherence measures in terms of quantum correlations and quantum Fisher information.

Abstract:A fundamental task in any physical theory is to quantify a certain physical quantity in a meaningful way. In this paper, we show that both fidelity distance and affinity distance satisfy the strong contractibility, and the corresponding resource quantifiers can be used to characterize a large class of resource theories. Under two assumptions, namely, convexity of "free states" and closure of free states under "selective free operations," our general framework of resource theory includes quantum resource theories of entanglement, coherence, partial coherence, and superposition. In partial coherence theory, we show that fidelity of partial coherence of a bipartite state is equal to the minimal error probability of a mixed quantum state discrimination task and vice versa, which complements the main result in Xiong and Wu [J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 51, 414005 (2018)]. We also compute the analytic expression of fidelity of partial coherence for (2, n) bipartite X states. At last, we study the correlated coherence in the framework of partial coherence theory. We show that partial coherence of a bipartite state, with respect to the eigenbasis of a subsystem, is actually a measure of discord-type quantum correlation.

Abstract:Let R be a ring and tau a hereditary torsion theory for the category of all left R-modules. A right R-module M is called tau-flat if Tor(1)( M, R/I) = 0 for any tau-finitely presented left ideal I. A left R-module N is said to be tau-f-injective in case Ext(1)( R/I, N) = 0 for any tau-finitely presented left ideal I. R is called a left tau-coherent ring in case every tau-finitely presented left ideal is finitely presented. tau-coherent rings are characterized in terms of, among others, tau-flat and tau-f-injective modules. Some known results are extended.

Abstract:This paper presents the proof of the coherence theorem for Ann-categories whose set of axioms and original basic properties were given in [9]. Let $$\A=(\A,{\Ah},c,(0,g,d),a,(1,l,r),{\Lh},{\Rh})$$ be an Ann-category. The coherence theorem states that in the category $ \A$, any morphism built from the above isomorphisms and the identification by composition and the two operations $\tx$, $\ts$ only depends on its source and its target. The first coherence theorems were built for monoidal and symmetric monoidal categories by Mac Lane [7]. After that, as shown in the References, there are many results relating to the coherence problem for certain classes of categories. For Ann-categories, applying Hoang Xuan Sinh's ideas used for Gr-categories in [2], the proof of the coherence theorem is constructed by faithfully ``embedding'' each arbitrary Ann-category into a quite strict Ann-category. Here, a {\it quite strict} Ann-categogy is an Ann-category whose all constraints are strict, except for the commutativity and left distributivity ones. This paper is the work continuing from [9]. If there is no explanation, the terminologies and notations in this paper mean as in [9].

Abstract:Proofs of coherence in category theory, starting from Mac Lane's original proof of coherence for monoidal categories, are sometimes based on confluence techniques analogous to what one finds in the lambda calculus, or in term-rewriting systems in general. This applies to coherence results that assert that a category is a preorder, i.e. that ``all diagrams commute''. This note is about this analogy, paying particular attention to cases where the category for which coherence is proved is not a groupoid.

Abstract:Quantum coherence is a fundamental manifestation of the quantum superposition principle. Recently, Baumgratz \emph{et al}. [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{113}, 140401 (2014)] presented a rigorous framework to quantify coherence from the view of theory of physical resource. Here we propose a new valid quantum coherence measure which is a convex roof measure, for a quantum system of arbitrary dimension, essentially using the generalized Gell-Mann matrices. Rigorous proof shows that the proposed coherence measure fulfills all the requirements dictated by the resource theory of quantum coherence measures. Moreover, strong links between the resource frameworks of coherence concurrence and entanglement concurrence is derived, which shows that any degree of coherence with respect to some reference basis can be converted to entanglement via incoherent operations. Our work provides a clear quantitative and operational connection between coherence and entanglement based on two kinds of concurrence. This new coherence measure, coherence concurrence, may be beneficial to the study of quantum coherence.

Abstract:Let $S/R$ be a Frobenius extension with $_RS_R$ centrally projective over $R$. We show that if $_R\omega$ is a Wakamatsu tilting module then so is $_SS\otimes_R\omega$, and the natural ring homomorphism from the endomorphism ring of $_R\omega$ to the endomorphism ring of $_SS\otimes_R\omega$ is a Frobenius extension in addition that pd$(\omega_T)$ is finite, where $T$ is the endomorphism ring of $_R\omega$. We also obtain that the relative $n$-torsionfreeness of modules is preserved under Frobenius extensions. Furthermore, we give an application, which shows that the generalized G-dimension with respect to a Wakamatsu module is invariant under Frobenius extensions.

Abstract:We compare relative cohomology theories arising from using different proper resolutions of modules. Criteria for the vanishing of such distinctions are given in certain cases, and we show that this is related to the generalized Tate cohomology theory. We also demonstrate that the two balance properties admitted by the two different cohomology theories are actually equivalent in some cases. As applications, we recover many results obtained earlier in various contexts. At last we investigate derived functors with respect to the Auslander and Bass classes.

Abstract:In this paper, we first investigate some properties of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Leibniz conformal algebras with respect to representations and their connections with Leibniz dendriform conformal algebras. Next, we introduce the notion of a twisted relative Rota-Baxter operator and construct a conformal NS-Leibniz algebra structure related to twisted relative Rota-Baxter operators. Furthermore, we define the cohomology of a twisted relative Rota-Baxter operator with coefficients in a suitable representation. Finally, we consider formal deformations of twisted relative Rota-Baxter operators from cohomological points of view.

Abstract:We prove that for an elementary amenable group, coherence of the group, homological coherence of the group, and coherence of the integral group ring are all equivalent. This generalises a result of Bieri and Strebel for finitely generated soluble groups.

Abstract:There are multiple conjectures relating the cohomological Hall algebras (CoHAs) of certain substacks of the moduli stack of representations of a quiver $Q$ to the Yangian $Y^{Q}_{MO}$ by Maulik-Okounkov, whose construction is based on the notion of stable envelopes of Nakajima varieties. In this article, we introduce the cohomological Hall algebra of the moduli stack of framed representations of a quiver $Q$ (framed CoHA) and we show that the equivariant cohomology of the disjoint union of the Nakajima varieties $\mathcal{M}_Q(\text{v},\text{w})$ for all dimension vectors $\text{v}$ and framing vectors $\text{w}$ has a canonical structure of subalgebra of the framed CoHA. Restricted to this subalgebra, the algebra multiplication is identified with the stable envelope map. As a corollary, we deduce an explicit inductive formula to compute stable envelopes in terms of tautological classes.

Abstract:Let R be a ring. A right R-module C is called cotorsion if Ext(R)(1)(F, C) = 0 for any flat right R-module F. In this paper, we first give some results on cotorsion envelopes that are analogous to those on injective envelopes. Then we characterize those rings R for which every cotorsion right R-module is A-injective, where A is a nonemptry collection of right ideals of R. Finally, some new characterizations of right perfect rings and von Neumann regular rings are given.

Abstract:Stable envelopes, introduced by Maulik and Okounkov, provide a family of bases for the equivariant cohomology of symplectic resolutions. The theory of stable envelopes provides a fascinating interplay between geometry, combinatorics and integrable systems. In this expository article, we give a self-contained introduction to cohomological stable envelopes of type A bow varieties (an interesting class of varieties extending Nakajima quiver varieties). Our main focus is on the existence and the orthogonality properties of stable envelopes for bow varieties. The restriction to this specific class of varieties allows us to illustrate the theory combinatorially and to provide simplified proofs, both laying a basis for explicit calculations.

Topological proofs of categorical coherence

Abstract:We give a short topological proof of coherence for categorified non-symmetric operads by using the fact that the diagrams involved form the 1-skeleton of simply connected CW complexes. We also obtain a "one-step" topological proof of Mac Lane's coherence theorem for symmetric monoidal categories, as suggested by Kapranov in 1993. Our analysis is based on a notion of combinatorial homotopy, which we further study in the special case of polyhedral complexes, leading to a second geometrical proof of coherence which is very close to Mac Lane's original argument. We use Morse theory to show that this second method is (strictly) less general than the first. We provide a detailed analysis of how both methods allow us to deduce these two categorical coherence results and discuss possible generalizations to higher categories.
