Abstract:With the development of user information enviroment and user modeling,reusability emerges as a vital issue in user modeling applications.In this paper,we present two existing approaches to deal with the reusability issue,suggest a new hybrid approach,and discuss some possible problems in the new hybrid approach.

Abstract:User interface patterns provide good support for the development of usable user interface. However, with the increase of patterns, it is difficult for users to find suitable patterns for usable interface design. Therefore, it is an urgent problem for users to recommend appropriate patterns in the process of designing interface. In this paper, we firstly analyze the advantages and disadvantages of various recommendation algorithms, study the characteristics of task models and interface patterns, and then propose a hybrid recommendation method and development framework of the interface patterns based on hypergraph theory. Afterwards, according to task analysis, we tag the task attributes, and use hypergraph theory to construct users, tasks and patterns as hypergraph models with the historical behavioral data of users' using patterns. Then we divide and cluster the hypergraph models by weight similarity method proposed in this paper, and calculate the similarity between each pattern and task in the cluster to recommend a list of patterns so that the users can quickly and accurately select the appropriate patterns for interface development. Finally, the prototype system is developed and evaluated. The results show that the proposed method can improve not only the usability of the system, but also the development efficiency.
Research on Reuse Modeling for Technical Objects Based on Modular Product Platform

Abstract:Aimed at the new demands of reuse for modular product platform, a reuse modeling frame of technical objects was proposed. A reuse model was described by reuse depth dimensionality, reuse span dimensionality and reuse pattern dimensionality in detail. Based on the reuse process model, the reuse technology was discussed from the standpoint of spandepth dimensionalities and depth- pattern dimensionalities respectively. The requirement mapping and the matching evaluation were analyzed as two key technologies. At the same time, the reuse strategies were presented. Combined with the actual data in a steam turbine manufacturing enterprise, the reuse scenes of configuration design were achieved based on live sequence chart. In the scenes, the orders and strategies of technical objects were presented. The applications indicate that the method realizes the efficient reuse, design reusing, simplifies the retrieval process during the configuration design and variation design and improves the personnel efficiency in manufacturing enterprises.
A Holistic Pedagogical View of Learning Objects: Future Directions for Reuse

Abstract:Reuse of learning materials is an emerging and important theme in the field of education.A popular idea is that a disciplined use of so-called learning objects,with the help of the modular building blocks of learning content,may offer good opportu nities for reuse.Two pedagogical views on learning objects are distinguished: an analytical pedagogical view that is fully consistent with the traditional technological approach to learning objects;and an alternative holistic pedagogical view that is insufficiently recog nized in this technological approach.Problems associated with both above-mentioned views are discussed.With regard to the analytic view,relatively small problems pertain to:(1) the metadata problem,(2) the arrangement problem,and(3) the exchange problem.With regard to the holistic view,more fundamental problems pertain to:(1) the context problem,(2) the pedagogical function problem,and,(3) the correspondence problem.An integrative approach stressing reediting,intermediate products,templates,and technical automa tion is presented as a possible direction to overcome these problems.
Designing One Unified Framework for High-Fidelity Face Reenactment and Swapping

Abstract:Face reenactment and swapping share a similar identity and attribute manipulating pattern, but most methods treat them separately, which is redundant and practical-unfriendly. In this paper, we propose an effective end-to-end unified framework to achieve both tasks. Unlike existing methods that directly utilize pre-estimated structures and do not fully exploit their potential similarity, our model sufficiently transfers identity and attribute based on learned disentangled representations to generate high-fidelity faces. Specifically, Feature Disentanglement first disentangles identity and attribute unsupervisedly. Then the proposed Attribute Transfer (AttrT) employs learned Feature Displacement Fields to transfer the attribute granularly, and Identity Transfer (IdT) explicitly models identity-related feature interaction to adaptively control the identity fusion. We joint AttrT and IdT according to their intrinsic relationship to further facilitate each task, i.e., help improve identity consistency in reenactment and attribute preservation in swapping. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our method. Code is available at https://github.com/xc-csc101/UniFace.
Design Reuse Strategy for Mass Customization and Its Application

Abstract:How to meet the diverse requirements while keeping the low cost for product development and high efficiency is the main problem of designing reuse in mass customization. Based on the idea of "decreasing the internal diversity, increasing the external diversity" of mass customization, a "multi-view, multi-layer, multi-granularity" design reuse model was proposed. Both the practical and economical requirements of the product were encountered. Design reuse strategy for mass customization was studied and a combined strategy of product family, component modularization, part standardization, feature generalization was given. On one hand, the strategy ensured the economy of design reuse; on the other hand, the diverse requirements of customs were encountered commendably. Finally, the application instance was given; the software system was developed and applied.

Abstract:Business process modelling is a primary task and widely used for implementing enterprise IT projects. The existing models represent business domain knowledge and are needed to be well managed and reused. In this paper, a framework consisting of methods and an application tool is presented for the business process model management and its reuse. On the basis of the awareness of the challenges of management and its reuse, this paper introduces a web-based business process model management system. Supported by this application, a hierarchical framework with methods to manage and reuse the business process models is described, in which, the developed models called reference models are organised and stored in a hierarchical structure. For the classification and retrieval of the reference models, a fuzzy neural network classifier is described and a case study is provided as an illustration.

Abstract:For facing the requirements of consistent and normative product information in today's collaborative digital and global design,an article characteristic reuse approach was proposed based on classification,together with its tabular layout modeling technology.With the oriented-object thinking,the classification was carried out based on the value domain of the article characteristic,and class model was built with its hierarchy.By using this classification,the characteristics were decoupled with articles.And based on this classification and the requirements form from tabular layout modeling,the characteristic reuse mechanism was proposed,and the software platform was also developed for enterprise information application.It had been proved that this technology can help reduce the scale of article characteristic,and improve information model consistency and normative in enterprise information practice.

Abstract:To flexibly integrate various systems at different stages and improve the openness and reusability of information in remote collaborative product development, a framework of integrated product modeling based on Web Services is presented The integrated model consists of a master model and application models that combine static and dynamic information supporting whole product lifecycle. The master model contains the core and shared information. The application model relating to specific manufacture domain is built up by extracting the master model and complementing domain information. The flexible integration of heterogeneous systems is ensured by the use of Web Services. The openness and expansibility are preserved by combining STEP and XML for information representation and exchange. The high reusability of product information is achieved by using a service-oriented multi-granularity schema The information consistency among the master model and application models is maintained through a coordinated-protocol for rapidly acquiring alteration and reacting to it.

Abstract:The situation of model reuse was introduced respectively,which included the modeling and modeling language,model conversion,model description information management and model software reuse. The problems of model reuse were analyzed and the method of model reuse based on Web Services was proposed. The model service’s implementation,description and integration were discussed. Taking the Modern Catchment Geomorphic Evolution Model (MCGEM) with the example,the MCGEM Services’ implementing and integrating procedure based on Web Services were introduced. The results show that this method is feasible and valid and will improve model reuse ability.

Abstract:The application of conversational agents empowered by artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more common among tourism and hospitality businesses. Past research on AI has mostly investigated embodied robots rather than disembodied conversational agents. This study investigates the determinants of customers’ intention to reuse chatbots through integrating three different perspectives – technology acceptance model, computer-mediated communication theories, and interpersonal communication theories. Using online self-reported data analyzed by hierarchical regression and multi-group structural equation modeling, the efficacy of different theoretical models in predicting chatbot adoption were compared. A separate data set was collected from instant messaging (IM) users to provide implications that further explain the distinction between disembodied conversational agents and human conversational partners. Results suggest that variables associated with TAM and interpersonal attraction exert greatest influence on customers’ trust and reuse intention toward conversational agents. Managerial implications are suggested for practitioners to improve chatbot and IM design.

Abstract:Performing user modeling on two or more social media platforms collaboratively and complementing each other (cross-site user modeling) has been a significant problem in the area of social media mining in recent years. The core of this problem is to get to know a person’s identities on multiple platforms and then train user models collaboratively among these platforms. However, for privacy protection, many people do not want their identities on different platforms to be linked and disclosed. For this problem, we set cross-site Content Preference Prediction as a task and propose a cross-site user modeling method without cross-site User Identity Linkage (UIL). The core thought borrowed from privacy-preserving recommender system research is to organize social media identities into groups to hide the identity linkage among platforms. Experiments on real-world datasets suggest that our method outperforms the existing cross-site user modeling methods with cross-site UIL regarding several metrics.

Abstract:The life spans of machine learning models are often short and a large number of models are wasted because they can only be applied to a specific task. However, a well-designed, carefully trained model contains learned knowledge from its task, which may be more concise than training data. Furthermore, when we have no access to training data, the trained model is the last remaining source of information. This study introduces a framework to reuse existing models trained in other tasks and help improve the model for the current task, especially when limited data is available for the current task. This framework incorporates high-level domain knowledge to combine existing models and treat them as black boxes, in order for them to be universal for complex models. Experiments on applying the framework to practical problems demonstrate that we can improve the performance on the current task by reusing existing models.

Abstract:Nowadays, growing quantities of product models are created in industries. Usually, these models contain abundant design knowledge, either explicit or implicit, in various disciplines. As an approach to taking full advantage of the design knowledge embedded, model reuse plays an increasingly important part in complex product design and innovative design, in which enormous time and cost can be saved. While model retrieval is a natural and promising way to help designers find the right models for quick and accurate reuse, the retrieval technology for assemblies is yet to reach maturity since the previous text-based or low-level content-based assembly retrieval could not fully support the needs of users.

Abstract:Existing research work on intelligent agents is facing the challenge of extending agent capabilities. One of major difficulties of applying intelligent agents in various software platforms lies in that generalized agent design models may not fit with specified organizational applications. This problem dramatically hampers the practical applications of intelligent agents. In this paper we point out several aspects that might affect the development of agent-based technology; and further address the information reuse and unification issues through suggesting an enhanced agent capability reuse mechanism, which is able to provide an efficient process for agent capability reuse. The proposed design can fulfill the needs for a dynamic agent environment.

Abstract:Nowadays, Internet is fulfilled by huge-scale personal information, and there exists a phenomenon that these kinds of personal information are not distributed in the Internet randomly, but archived in several social media under a certain rule, which is said the different characters of social media. It is rational to infer to the conclusion that we could not learn the every aspect of an individual through only one social medium he/she using, and only if through multi-social media could we learn the more integrated information of individuals. This thesis proposes an approach for user identity resolution based on user's social network and user's behavior patterns. After collecting available user's network and personal information, the approach accomplishes this task that analyze and compare these data, including similarity measure between nodes of networks and string similarity measure, and finally determine whether they are match with each other according to the calculation results. The experimental results show that the method improved the recognition accuracy.

Abstract:Sharing and reusing research data can effectively reduce redundant efforts in data collection and curation, especially for small labs and research teams conducting human-centered system research, and enhance the replicability of evaluation experiments. Building a sustainable data reuse process and culture relies on frameworks that encompass policies, standards, roles, and responsibilities, all of which must address the diverse needs of data providers, curators, and reusers. To advance the knowledge and accumulate empirical understandings on data reuse, this study investigated the data reuse practices of experienced researchers from the area of Interactive Information Retrieval (IIR) studies, where data reuse has been strongly advocated but still remains a challenge. To enhance the knowledge on data reuse behavior and reusability assessment strategies within IIR community, we conducted 21 semi-structured in-depth interviews with IIR researchers from varying demographic backgrounds, institutions, and stages of careers on their motivations, experiences, and concerns over data reuse. We uncovered the reasons, strategies of reusability assessments, and challenges faced by data reusers within the field of IIR as they attempt to reuse researcher data in their studies. The empirical finding improves our understanding of researchers' motivations for reusing data, their approaches to discovering reusable research data, as well as their concerns and criteria for assessing data reusability, and also enriches the on-going discussions on evaluating user-generated data and research resources and promoting community-level data reuse culture and standards.

Abstract:Reuse is viewed as a realistically effective approach to solving software crisis. For an organization that wants to build a reuse program, technical and non-technical issues must be considered in parallel. In this paper, a model-based approach to building systematic reuse program is presented. Component-based reuse is currently a dominant approach to software reuse. In this approach, building the right reusable component model is the first important step. In order to achieve systematic reuse, a set of component models should be built from different perspectives. Each of these models will give a specific view of the components so as to satisfy different needs of different persons involved in the enterprise reuse program. There already exist some component models for reuse from technical perspectives. But less attention is paid to the reusable components from a non-technical view, especially from the view of process and management. In our approach, a reusable component model—FLP model for reusable component—is introduced. This model describes components from three dimensions (Form, Level, and Presentation) and views components and their relationships from the perspective of process and management. It determines the sphere of reusable components, the time points of reusing components in the development process, and the needed means to present components in terms of the abstraction level, logic granularity and presentation media. Being the basis on which the management and technical decisions are made, our model will be used as the kernel model to initialize and normalize a systematic enterprise reuse program.

Abstract:User modeling is critical for developing personalized services in industry. A common way for user modeling is to learn user representations that can be distinguished by their interests or preferences. In this work, we focus on developing universal user representation model. The obtained universal representations are expected to contain rich information, and be applicable to various downstream applications without further modifications (e.g., user preference prediction and user profiling). Accordingly, we can be free from the heavy work of training task-specific models for every downstream task as in previous works. In specific, we propose Self-supervised User Modeling Network (SUMN) to encode behavior data into the universal representation. It includes two key components. The first one is a new learning objective, which guides the model to fully identify and preserve valuable user information under a self-supervised learning framework. The other one is a multi-hop aggregation layer, which benefits the model capacity in aggregating diverse behaviors. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets show that our approach can outperform state-of-the-art unsupervised representation methods, and even compete with supervised ones.

Abstract:This paper proposes an extensive reuse approach for SOM, which utilizes a multi-facets ontology system supporting reuse of various service-oriented assets, such as business processes, collaboration templates and services. The paper also presents an iterative service-oriented modeling process based on the ontology and assets repository, which reuses assets from the first to last modeling phase by matching between assets descriptions, and results in a service model that represents the specification of the required service-oriented application.

Abstract:The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into daily life, particularly through information retrieval and recommender systems, has necessitated advanced user modeling and profiling techniques to deliver personalized experiences. These techniques aim to construct accurate user representations based on the rich amounts of data generated through interactions with these systems. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of the current state, evolution, and future directions of user modeling and profiling research. We provide a historical overview, tracing the development from early stereotype models to the latest deep learning techniques, and propose a novel taxonomy that encompasses all active topics in this research area, including recent trends. Our survey highlights the paradigm shifts towards more sophisticated user profiling methods, emphasizing implicit data collection, multi-behavior modeling, and the integration of graph data structures. We also address the critical need for privacy-preserving techniques and the push towards explainability and fairness in user modeling approaches. By examining the definitions of core terminology, we aim to clarify ambiguities and foster a clearer understanding of the field by proposing two novel encyclopedic definitions of the main terms. Furthermore, we explore the application of user modeling in various domains, such as fake news detection, cybersecurity, and personalized education. This survey serves as a comprehensive resource for researchers and practitioners, offering insights into the evolution of user modeling and profiling and guiding the development of more personalized, ethical, and effective AI systems.
