Abstract:The diversity and vertical distribution of soil nematodes were investigated in Stipa grandis community in Xiwu Banner , Inner Mongolia, China. In 2003, a total of 90 soil samples were taken from 0~10 , 10~20 and 20~30 cm depths in Stipa grandis community. The study qualified the abundance of community nematode and then analyzed community diversity and trophic types. In the community, 50 genera and 24 families of soil nematodes were identified, and the dominant genera were Tylenchorhynchus, Pararotylenchus and Acrobles. When compared with other plant parasite nematodes, the abundance of Tylenchorhynchus was extremely high. The result indicated that the vertical distribution of nematodes showed a typical surface accumulate type. Of all soil samples, the proportions of plant feeders, bacterivores and fungivores were ranged 69.4%~81.3%, 13.9%~20.9% and 0.9%~2.4%, respectively, and there was a relatively low ratio of fungivores to bacterivores, ranged from 0.067 to 0.133.
