Abstract:The main result is to show that the space of nonmonotonic fuzzy measures on a measurable space (X,X) with total variation norm is separable if and only if the σ-algebra X is a finite set. Our result is related to fuzzy analysis, functional spaces and discrete mathematics.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the belief and plausibility measures defined on finite level fuzzy subset space are the lower and upper probabilities, respectively, of probability measures compatible with the fuzzy Dempster-Shafer (D-S) belief structure. We first introduce a probability measure which is additive on finite-level fuzzy sets space and show that the belief and plausibility measures determined by the fuzzy D-S belief structure are upper-additive and sub-additive, respectively. And then we discuss an objective function whose solutions correspond to a class of probability measures compatible with the fuzzy D-S belief structure. Lastly, a specific probability measure compatible with the fuzzy D-S belief structure is presented.

Abstract:Given a measurable space (X,F), a fuzzy measure μ on (X,F), and a nonnegative functionfonXthat is measurable with respect toF, we can define a new set function ν on (X,F) by the fuzzy integral. It is known that ν is a lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure on (X,F) and, moreover, if μ is finite, then ν is a finite fuzzy measure as well. In this paper, we generalize in several different ways the concept of absolute continuity of set functions, as defined in classical measure theory. In addition, we investigate the relationship among these generalizations by using the structural characteristics of set functions such as null-additivity and autocontinuity, and determine which types of absolute continuity of fuzzy measures are possessed by the fuzzy measure (or the lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure) obtained by the fuzzy integral.

Differential Geometry and its Applications

Abstract:In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition that an (α,β)-space admits a measure μ with vanishing S-curvature everywhere. It is shown that the measure of such an (α,β)-space must coincide with the Riemannian volume measure of α up to a constant multiplication. Moreover, the characterization of (α,β)-spaces admitting a measure μ with weak isotropic S-curvature is given.

Abstract:We study families formed with subsets of any set X which are quantum logics but which are not Boolean algebras. We consider sequences of measures defined on a sets quantum logics and valued on an effect algebra and obtain a sufficient condition for a sequences of such measures to be uniformly strongly additive with respect to order topology of effect algebras.

Abstract:We prove that for a given stationary fuzzy ultrametric space (in the sense of Kramosil & Michalek) it can induce a σ- ∨ -superdecomposable measure, by constructing a Hausdorff fuzzy pseudo-metric on its power set. We also prove that the restriction of the σ- ∨ -superdecomposable measure to the σ-algebra of all measurable sets is a σ- ∨ -decomposable measure. Finally we conclude this paper with two open problems.

Abstract:A fuzzy compactum in a space X is an upper semi-continuous map <math>f:A→[0,1]</math> from a nonempty compact subspace <math>A⊂X</math> to the unit closed interval <math>[0,1]</math> such that <math>{x∈A:f(x)>0}</math> is dense in A. In this paper, we investigate the topological structure of the space <math>Ke(X)</math> of fuzzy compacta of a separable metric space X with the Hausdorff metric. In particular, we prove that <math>Ke(X)≈ℓ2</math> if X is an infinite, locally compact, locally connected, connected and separable metric space.

Abstract:There are some drawbacks to arithmetic and logic operations of general discrete fuzzy numbers, which limit their application. For example, the result of the addition operation of general discrete fuzzy numbers defined by the Zadeh's extension principle may not satisfy the condition of becoming a discrete fuzzy number. In order to solve these problems, special discrete fuzzy numbers on countable sets are investigated in this paper. Since the representation theorem of fuzzy numbers is the basic tool of fuzzy analysis, two kinds of representation theorems of special discrete fuzzy numbers on countable sets are studied first. Then, the metrics of special discrete fuzzy numbers on countable sets are defined, and the relationship between these metrics and the uniform Hausdorff metric (i.e., supremum metric) of general fuzzy numbers is discussed. In addition, the triangular norm and triangular conorm operations (t-norm and t-conorm for short) of special discrete fuzzy numbers on countable sets are presented, and the properties of these two operators are proven. We also prove that these two operators satisfy the basic conditions for closure of operation and present some examples. Finally, the applications of special discrete fuzzy numbers on countable sets in image fusion and aggregation of subjective evaluation are proposed.

Abstract:From the view point of granular computing, by analyzing the structure of fuzzy measures based on the quotient space analytical method, we have the following results: (1) the necessary and sufficient condition of the isomorphism of fuzzy measure functions in fuzzy mathematics; (2) the necessary and sufficient condition of the fuzzy and granular monotony of fuzzy measures. The results open out the essence of fuzzy measures and provide a simple way to constructing fuzzy measures. The results also show that the quotient space analytical method is ubiquitous and effective in many fields.

Abstract:In this paper we first discuss the measurable projection theorem on fuzzy measure space, and in this framework the characterization theorem with respect to measurability of a set-valued function is given. By means of the asymptotic structural characteristics of fuzzy measure, we discuss four forms of generalization for both Lebesgue's theorem, Riesz's theorem, and Egoroff's theorem, respectively. The relation between convergence of measurable set-valued function sequence and that of corresponding measurable real-valued function sequence are also discussed.

Abstract:We study the family of all fuzzy sets of the n-dimensional Euclidean space, which are upper-semicontinuous, fuzzy convex and normal with compact supports contained in a non-degenerate convex subset, and prove that the following statements are equivalent: (i) The family of fuzzy sets with the topology induced by the supremum metric is homeomorphic to a non-separable Hilbert space whose weight is the cardinality of the set of all real numbers; (ii) the non-degenerate convex subset is topologically complete, or equivalently, it is a countable intersection of open sets in the n-dimensional Euclidean space.

Abstract:From quotient space based granular computing theory we explore the fuzzy measures of fuzzy sets. Based on the structural analysis of fuzzy sets, we present an “isotropism” assumption. Under this assumption we achieved the following insights: (1) the uniqueness of a fuzzy measure being isotropic on a finite complete semi-ordered set; (2) the necessary and sufficient condition of the isomorphism for fuzzy measure functions in fuzzy mathematics; (3) the necessary and sufficient condition that fuzzy measures have fuzzy and granular monotonicity; (4) under a certain assumption, the analytic expression for fuzzy measures. The results clarify the relationship between fuzzy measures and granular computing, reveal the essence of fuzzy measures, and provide a simple way of constructing fuzzy measures.

Abstract:In this paper, by applying the Lebesgue's measure on the symmetric difference of sets, we introduce the notions of the symmetric difference metric d△ and p-mean symmetric difference metric d△p in order to measure the difference between fuzzy numbers. The concept of the platform type of fuzzy number (p-fuzzy number) is introduced, and we show that d△ and d△p are zero if and only if two fuzzy numbers are equal or have the same p-fuzzy numbers. Further, the relations between d△ and the uniform Hausdorff metric DH (cf. Diamond and Kloeden, 1989), d△p and Dp (cf. Nola and Ventre, 1987) are discussed. For the non-p-fuzzy numbers, the equivalences of the metric convergences on d△ and DH, d△p and Dp are provided.

Abstract:Motivated by some deep problems in optimization and control theory, convexity theory has been extended to the various infinite dimensional functional spaces. The separation theorems play key roles in developing convexity theory. In this paper, we focus on the convexity problem in the framework of fuzzy quasi-normed spaces. First, we give some separation results of convex sets, and show a characterization of a closed convex subset with the aid of the dual of a fuzzy quasi-normed space. Second, we introduce the concept of an extreme point and generalize the famous Krein–Milman theorem to a fuzzy quasi-normed space. The obtained results of this paper will play key roles in convex programming and optimization problems of fuzzy quasi-normed spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we present the characterizations of total boundedness, relative compactness and compactness in fuzzy set spaces equipped with the endograph metric. The conclusions in this paper significantly improve the corresponding conclusions given in our previous paper [H. Huang, Characterizations of endograph metric and -convergence on fuzzy sets, Fuzzy Sets and Systems 350 (2018), 55–84]. The results in this paper are applicable to fuzzy sets in a general metric space. The results in our previous paper are applicable to fuzzy sets in the m -dimensional Euclidean space , which is a specific metric space. Furthermore, based on the above results, we give the characterizations of relative compactness, total boundedness and compactness in a kind of common subspaces of general fuzzy sets according to the endograph metric. As an application, we investigate some relationship between the endograph metric and the -convergence on fuzzy sets.

Abstract:In this short article, we shall study one-dimensional local Dirichlet spaces. One result, which has its independent interest, is to prove that irreducibility implies the uniqueness of symmetrizing measure for right Markov processes. The other result is to give a representation for any 1-dim local, irreducible and regular Dirichlet space and a necessary and sufficient condition for a Dirichlet space to be regular subspace of another Dirichlet space.

Abstract:Working with sets of infinite -Hausdorff measures can be cumbersome, so simplifying them to sets of positive finite general fractal measures proves to be highly beneficial. This paper aims to demonstrate that the -Hausdorff measures adhere to the property of being a subset of positive and finite measures. Our main result is then applied to establish that the general fractal function dimension is defined as the supremum of the general fractal dimension across all Borel probability measures.
