Abstract:The problem of slope-change point was discussed.The consistency and convergence rate of the change point estimator were presented.At the same time,the convergence rate of the change point estimator was obtained when the magnitude of the slope change was small.

Abstract:Let {Xn,n⩾1} be an independent sequence with a mean shift. We consider the cumulative sum (CUSUM) estimator of a change point. It is shown that, when the rth moment of Xn is finite, for n⩾1 and r>1, strong convergence rate of the change point estimator is o(M(n)/n), for any M(n) satisfying that M(n)↑∞, which has improved the results in the literature. Furthermore, it is also shown that the preceding rate is still valid for some dependent or negative associate cases. We also propose an iterative algorithm to search for the location of a change point. A simulation study on a mean shift model with a stable distribution is provided, which demonstrates that the algorithm is efficient. In addition, a real data example is given for illustration.

Abstract:In this article, we consider the estimation of the structural change point in the nonparametric model with dependent observations. We introduce a maximum-CUSUM-estimation procedure, where the CUSUM statistic is constructed based on the sum-of-squares aggregation of the difference of the two Nadaraya-Watson estimates using the observations before and after a specific time point. Under some mild conditions, we prove that the statistic tends to zero almost surely if there is no change, and is larger than a threshold asymptotically almost surely otherwise, which helps us to obtain a threshold-detection strategy. Furthermore, we demonstrate the strong consistency of the change point estimator. In the simulation, we discuss the selection of the bandwidth and the threshold used in the estimation, and show the robustness of our method in the long-memory scenario. We implement our method to the data of Nasdaq 100 index and find that the relation between the realized volatility and the return exhibits several structural changes in 2007–2009.

Abstract:In this article, an estimate of a change point in variance of measurement errors ( ME) is given in terms of characteristic functions when the variances are known. Its modification is also given for the case that the variances are unknown. In addition, the consistency and convergence rates of the estimator and its modification are investigated. The simulation study shows that the proposed estimators perform well.

Abstract:In the case that the second moment exited, the cumulative sum (CUSUM) estimator of the change point in mean for a independent sequence was studied. Through truncation, it was proved that the estimator is strongly consistent, which improves the known consistent results. Furthermore, as a non-independent case, a negative association (NA) sequence was studied, which is widely applied in reliability, percolation theory and multivariate statistical analysis. Through another means of truncation, strong consistence for the change-point estimator was proved.

Abstract:We study a random design regression model generated by dependent observations, when the regression function itself (or its @n-th derivative) may have a change or discontinuity point. A method based on the local polynomial fits with one-sided kernels to estimate the location and the jump size of the change point is applied in this paper. When the jump location is known, a central limit theorem for the estimator of the jump size is established; when the jump location is unknown, we first obtain a functional limit theorem for a local dilated-rescaled version estimator of the jump size and then give the asymptotic distributions for the estimators of the location and the jump size of the change point. The asymptotic results obtained in this paper can be viewed as extensions of corresponding results for independent observations. Furthermore, a simulated example is given to show that our theory and method perform well in practice.

Abstract:In this paper, the least square estimator in the problem of multiple change points estimation is studied. Here, the moving-average processes of ALNQD sequence in the mean shifts are discussed. When the number of change points is known, the rate of convergence of change-points estimation is derived. The result is also true for ρ-mixing, φ-mixing, α-mixing, associated and negatively asosciated sequences under suitable conditions.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a new estimator of the change point in variance of measurement errors in terms of U -statistics based on characteristic functions. We also investigate the strong consistency and convergence rates of the estimator. In addition, we develop the asymptotic distribution of the change point estimator under local alternative hypothesis, which is a two-side Brownian motion with a drift. Simulation results show that our estimator is significantly better than the estimator posed in [C.L. Dong et al., An estimate of a change point in variance of measurement errors and its convergence rate, Commun. Stat., Theory Methods , 44(4):790–797, 2015].

Abstract:Let be a sequence of linear process based on dependent random variables with random coefficients, which has a mean shift at an unknown location. The cumulative sum (CUSUM, for short) estimator of the change point is studied. The strong convergence, convergence, complete convergence and the rate of strong convergence are established for the CUSUM estimator under some mild conditions. These results improve and extend the corresponding ones in the literature. Simulation studies and two real data examples are also provided to support the theoretical results.

Abstract:Assume that the characteristic index α of stable distribution satisfies 1 < α < 2, and that the distribution is symmetrical about its mean. We consider the change point estimators for stable distribution with α or scale parameter β shift. For the one case that mean is a known constant, if α or β changes, then density function will change too. To this end, we suppose the kernel estimation for a change point. For the other case that mean is an unknown constant, we suppose to apply empirical characteristic function to estimate the change-point location. In the two cases, we consider the consistency and strong convergence rate of estimators. Furthermore, we consider the mean shift case. If mean changes, then corresponding characteristic function will change too. To this end, we also apply empirical characteristic function to estimate change point. We obtain the similar convergence rate. Finally, we consider its application on the detection of mean shift in financial market.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the gradient descent–ascent method for convex–concave saddle-point problems. We derive a new non-asymptotic global convergence rate in terms of distance to the solution set by using the semidefinite programming performance estimation method. The given convergence rate incorporates most parameters of the problem and it is exact for a large class of strongly convex-strongly concave saddle-point problems for one iteration. We also investigate the algorithm without strong convexity and we provide some necessary and sufficient conditions under which the gradient descent–ascent enjoys linear convergence.

Abstract:In this note, we improve the convergence rates of spectral distributions that large-dimensional sample covariance matrices of size p×n tend to the Marenko-Pastur distribution, under the assumption that the entries have a finite eighth moment. Especially, we show that the expected spectral distributions of large-dimensional sample covariance matrices of size p×n tends to the limiting distribution with the dimension sample size ratio y=y_n=p/n at the rate of O(n~ -1/6 ) if y is close to 1 . Similar results for both the convergence in probability and the almost sure convergence are shown to be O_p(n~ -1/6 ) and O_ a.s. (n~ -1/6 ), under the condition that y is close to 1.

Abstract:The notions of Lipschitz conditions with L average are introduced to the study of convergence analysis of Gauss–Newton’s method for singular systems of equations. Unified convergence criteria ensuring the convergence of Gauss–Newton’s method for one kind of singular systems of equations with constant rank derivatives are established and unified estimates of radii of convergence balls are also obtained. Applications to some special cases such as the Kantorovich type conditions, γ-conditions and the Smale point estimate theory are provided and some important known results are extended and/or improved.

Abstract:Financial panel data often have the phenomena of structural change, long-range dependence and cross-sectional dependence simultaneously. Assuming that the length of time series is T,the number of individuals is N, the slope change occurs at the same time of all individuals, and each time series is long-range dependent（memory parameter d ∈（0, 0.5））, and there is cross-sectional dependence between individuals due to the common factor structure. For this panel data model, we apply the least square method to estimate the date of slope change and the fraction of the slope change point,and study the asymptotic properties of the estimator when（T, N） jointly tends to infinity, including the consistency, convergence rate as well as the limiting distribution. Some interesting conclusions are drawn. In most cases, the convergence rate of the estimator of the slope change point slows down with the increase of the memory parameter d. However, when the time length T and the number of individuals N of the panel data satisfy the condition T 2d = o（N）, and there is an interaction effect between the common factor and the break magnitude of the change point, the convergence rate of the change point estimator is only related to T. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to evaluate the finite-sample performance of the estimator, and our theoretical results are supported by the Monte Carlo simulations.
