Abstract:A virtual test and simulation system based on virtual reality (VR) is introduced. The test processes are interactively planned, optimized and simulated in a virtual environment (VE), aiming at eventually performing tests completely in virtual environments. The architecture, design principles and implementation of the system are discussed. The key supporting techniques, main problems and possible solutions are put forward. Its application in non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and random simulation of carbon-fiber reinforced plastics are also discussed. Finally, its development trend in the future is forecasted. The conclusion is that VR-based virtual test and simulation system bears great potentials for engineering applications, and much work is needed to make it more practical.

Abstract:The concept and the theory model of the virtual testing based on virtual reality are studied.In terms of the mapping relation between the vehicle vibration testing system and the virtual testing system of vehicle vibration based on virtual reality(VTSVVBVR),the system framework design and the implementation method of the VTSVVBVR,which consists of virtual reality subsystem,modeling subsystem and virtual instrument subsystem,are proposed.The VTSVVBVR is designed,and the display of the virtual testing results of the vehicle vibration is presented,which has shown that the theory model of the virtual testing based on virtual reality is suitable for the VTSVVBVR design,and the vehicle vibration and its signals of time domain and frequency domain could be observed simultaneously in three observation models respectively by the aid of the system.

Abstract:Automobile styling design is an important part of the design chain. In the traditional automobile modeling evaluation, the process of project evaluation is more in-depth, and designers exchange ideas. Different designers have different evaluations of automobile styling. The evaluation process lasts a long time, which leads to the design cycle being too long and the efficiency of automobile modeling evaluation is greatly reduced. The introduction of virtual reality in automobile modeling evaluation can effectively optimize the evaluation process and promote the rapid adjustment of the model on the basis of development. From the virtual reality system based on mechanical engineering, we only need the parameters of the car model to observe the actual situation through VR technology, and use the measurement tools to directly and accurately evaluate the driver’s field of vision. Through the application of virtual reality technology in the automobile design stage, the interactive and network-based remote research on automobile modeling will also make the automobile design process more convenient, easier to communicate with designers, and reduce the development cycle and cost of automobile design.

Abstract:As a popular technology, Virtual Reality (VR) is getting into our lives at a rapid speed. Following this trend, there are more and more applications in different areas, especially in areas that are highly related to virtual design where VR can help to produce a sense of reality for people. Thus, this paper researched related articles and lectures to conclude current VR applications. This work mainly explores VR applications in movies, games, and media. This research also investigates the advantage, disadvantages, effects, and future development of the VR application in each field. These factories are the most representative area in this field so they can help to show the whole trend. From the study, it can see that the benefits VR brings overweight its disadvantages. VR will be more popular and useful with more effort from companies and universities, and it will change the way people treat these areas.

Abstract:With the popularity of virtual reality technology, it has already been wide applied in the current automotive industry. However, most of these applications are aimed at the consumer market, and remain to provide the consumers with a method to have an overall experience of the vehicle visually. Based on the development of the automotive industry and the virtual reality technology, this study attempts to utilize the current popular virtual reality technology to solve the contradiction between the increasingly complex technologies applied in the automotive and the gradual shortening design and development cycle of the automotive due to market pressure. This study innovatively combines virtual reality technology and physical model, produces a virtual model in the virtual reality environment with the 1:1 size in real world, and uses the car seat, the steering wheel and the physical air-conditioning button model with 3D printing to produce the preliminary simulation test bench for human-vehicle interaction. After analyzing the completion time and the operational validity of the participants' same interactive operations on the test bench and in the real car, the thesis preliminarily verifies the usability of the bench, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of it. The bench created by combining virtual reality technology and physical model can give the designers a better sense of immersion, and because of the addition of the physical model, the designers can evaluate their designs both visually and tactilely, with one more physical dimension. Besides, thanks to the advantages of virtual reality technology, the test bench of this study can achieve quick design update, provide the designers with more convenient solution comparison method, and can save a lot of time and money, which is a novel, concrete, and resource-saving design evaluation method with great application potentials.

Abstract:Virtual reality (VR) is a popular information technology in design and manufacturing. In the conceptual design stage, VR has been proved to be an auxiliary tool with great potential. However, the development of VR in the conceptual design has not been systematically investigated. This study conducted a review of the application of VR in the conceptual design stage on design activities and cognitive needs in recent 18 years. This study proposed a framework of design activities and cognitive needs in the conceptual design stage based on the design information cycle model. The technical characteristics are analysed and role of VR in each phase of conceptual design is discussed. Then the principle and application value in developments of VR technology for conceptual design are analysed. Finally, the research directions and application scheme of VR in conceptual design in the future are discussed.

Abstract:Virtual reality technology is used in this research to perform an in-depth investigation and the analysis of visual optimization of product appearance design, as well as to adapt evolving technology to practical design. The breadth of virtual display technology may be further investigated, and software abilities can be enhanced by studying the virtual display of intelligent goods. The performance indicators of the product may be exhibited in an all-around manner via the virtual display, giving customers an intuitive experience and thereby stimulating consumers' desire to purchase. To achieve the research objectives of this paper, we first researched the professional positions of designers, operators, and product planners in related industries, and used the survey analysis method to compile valid data from the research results. And we conducted research and analysis on consumers of different age levels to derive different functional requirements of wearable products for different age levels, and compare and analyze the advantages and shortcomings of various types of smart wearable products in terms of their product presentation. The method refers to the product appearance design, making the product's functional attributes, user emotions, and other factors as the starting point, and taking the visual effect of color as the center of the design scheme conception, the designer first conceives the visual effect of color to meet the requirements of function and structure, constructs a three-dimensional form that echoes it, and then explores the comprehensive effect of color and form, and further considers and designs the color, material, and so on from the perspective of users, product function, and structure. Abstract:Within a few decades of development, Internet is been refreshing the world’s awareness of its development and potentials at an unexpected speed. In recent years, virtual reality technology has begun to be applied to more and more fields. Especially in instant transmission of information, the applications of VR are incomparable. Akin to the wide-ranged advantages of the technology in education and health, the applications of VR in the art of artistic image designing need to be addressed. With this research work, a comprehensive study is presented about the applications of virtual reality in the art of image visualization. The research intends to analyze the possibility of intermingling modern image visualization with the emerging VR technology. Following a systematic approach, the history and development of display design are reviewed besides studying the artistry techniques used in the technology of art image visualization design. The interdisciplinary association of the two fields is explored with the help of relevant algorithms. The model proposed in the paper for the design of art image is based on the visual interactive process, rigorous assembly sequence, and appropriate equipment mode. As a result, the whole design process is more controllable and feasible. The suggested design concept is verified dynamically. Through the collection and comparison of feedback information, the hypothesis algorithm of the model is updated to accommodate the dynamic information so that to reflect the complete image design process. To assess performance of the model, evaluation was conducted from various perspectives. The three basic image operations such as illumination change, occlusion change, and color change were performed by using the two technologies such as the traditional image design and VR-based image design. From the comparison of experimental data, it was revealed that the effects of traditional art image visualization products produced by the art image visualization and that of VR technology are quite different. For instance, the visualization score achieved for the lighting change operation using the VR technology was 95.48%, whereas 85.57% was obtained for the same operation using the traditional image design technology. Similarly, while adding visual effects using the VR technology, an average of 9% higher score was obtained for the said image operations. The promising results attained for the VR-based design testify that the technology is feasible and suitable to be intermingled with the visual design of art image. As a whole, the findings justify that the proposed approach is quite applicable in visual design of art image systems. In view of the significance of the research, the study can be extended to related domains of computer-based designing and visualization as well.
