Improvement of Therapeutic Antibodies

Abstract:In the market, there are eighteen monoclonal antibodies approved by the FDA. They have been used to treat human disease, such as cancer, transplant rejection, autoimmudisease, antiviral prophylaxis and so on. The therapeutic antibodies represent one of the fastest growing areas of the biopharmaceutical industry. With the technology development, a diversity of engineered antibody forms have been created to improve their characterization and efficacy, including humanization of murine antibodies, enhancing their biological activities such as affinity maturation, improvement of effector functions, and altering pharmacokinetics. This review summarized recent developments in this field, also discussed the immunogenicity and affinity of engineered antibodies.
