Abstract:Assume that $M$ is close three dimensional manifold. We prove that $M\setminus \{p\}$ is a complete homogeneous manifold. As a corollary, we give a new proof on the classical Poincar\'e's conjecture.

Abstract:Let M be an n (>= 7)-dimensional complete submanifold with parallel mean curvature in the hyperbolic space Hn+p, whose mean curvature satisfies H-2-1 <= 0. Denote by angstrom and B-R(q) the trace free second fundamental form of M and the geodesic ball of radius R centered at q is an element of M, respectively. We prove that if lim(R ->infinity) sup integral(vertical bar angstrom vertical bar 2dM)(BR(q))/R-2 and if (integral(M)vertical bar angstrom vertical bar(n) dM)(2/n) + 2n(n-2)/3 root n(n-1) H(integral(M)vertical bar angstrom vertical bar(n/2)dM)(2/n) <= C(n), then M is congruent to an n-dimensional hyperbolic space or the Euclidean space R-n. Here C(n) is an explicit positive constant depending only on n. We also obtain a similar gap theorem in the case where n = 5, 6. (C) 2020 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Let Mn(n ≥ 4) be an oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in an (n + p)-dimensional complete simply connected Riemannian manifold Nn+p. Then there exists a constant δ(n, p) 2 (0, 1) such that if the sectional curvature of N satisfies $${\overline K _N} \in \;\,\left[ {\delta \left( {n,p} \right),\;1} \right]$$, and if M has a lower bound for Ricci curvature and an upper bound for scalar curvature, then N is isometric to Sn+p. Moreover, M is either a totally umbilic sphere $${S^n}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$, a Clifford hypersurface $${S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})\; \times \;{S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})$$ in the totally umbilic sphere $${S^{n+1}}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$ with n = 2m, or $${\mathbb{C}{\rm{P}}^2}\left( {{4 \over 3}\left( {1 + {H^2}} \right)} \right)$$ in $${S^7}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$. This is a generalization of Ejiri’s rigidity theorem.

Abstract: Let $M$ be a close complex manifold and $TM$ its holomorphic tangent bundle. We prove that if the global holomorphic sections of tangent bundle generate each fibre, then $M$ is a complex homogeneous manifold. Our proof depends on the complex version of Chow-Rashevskii theorem in Carnot-Caratheodory spaces.

Abstract:We prove that the length of the traceless second fundamental tensor A of an n-dimensional complete submanifold M, with parallel mean curvature vector and finite total curvature integral (M)\A \ (n)dV(M) < +infinity, in a simply connected space form (M) over bar (n+p)(c), c less than or equal to 0, goes to zero uniformly at infinity. Two applications of this result are given. In particular, we obtain a rigidity theorem for complete noncompact submanifolds with parallel mean curvature vector in the hyperbolic space form Hn+p(-1) for n greater than or equal to 6, p greater than or equal to 1.

Abstract:Making use of 1-forms and geometric inequalities we prove the rigidity property of complete submanifolds Mn with parallel mean curvature normal in a complete and simply connected Riemannian (n+p)-manifold Nn+p with positive sectional curvature. For given integers n, p and for a nonnegative constant H we find a positive number tau(n, p) is an element of (0, 1) with the property that if the sectional curvature of N is pinched in [tau(n, p), 1], and if the squared norm of the second fundamental form is in a certain interval, then Nn+p is isometric to the standard unit (n+p)-sphere. As a consequence, such an M is congruent to one of the five models as seen in our Main Theorem.
The Relative Manin-Mumford Conjecture

Abstract:We prove the Relative Manin-Mumford Conjecture for families of abelian varieties in characteristic 0. We follow the Pila-Zannier method to study special point problems, and we use the Betti map which goes back to work of Masser and Zannier in the case of curves. The key new ingredients compared to previous applications of this approach are a height inequality proved by both authors of the current paper and Dimitrov, and the first-named author's study of certain degeneracy loci in subvarieties of abelian schemes. We also strengthen this result and prove a criterion for torsion points to be dense in a subvariety of an abelian scheme over $\mathbb{C}$. The Uniform Manin-Mumford Conjecture for curves embedded in their Jacobians was first proved by Kühne. We give a new proof, as a corollary to our main theorem, that does not use equidistribution.

Abstract:A subset S of a Riemannian manifold N is called extrinsically homogeneous if S is an orbit of a subgroup of the isometry group of N. Thorbergsson proved the remarkable result that every complete, connected, full, irreducible isoparametric submanifold of a finite dimensional Euclidean space of rank at least 3 is extrinsically homogeneous. This result, combined with results of Palais-Terng and Dadok, finally classified irreducible isoparametric submanifolds of a finite dimensional Euclidean space of rank at least 3. While Thorbergsson's proof used Tits buildings, a simpler proof without using Tits buildings was given by Olmos. The main purpose of this paper is to extend Thorbergsson's result to the infinite dimensional case.
Complete 3-manifolds of positive scalar curvature with quadratic decay

Abstract:We prove that if an orientable 3-manifold $M$ admits a complete Riemannian metric whose scalar curvature is positive and has a subquadratic decay at infinity, then it decomposes as a (possibly infinite) connected sum of spherical manifolds and $\mathbb{S}^2 \times \mathbb{S}^1$ summands. This generalises a theorem of Gromov and Wang by using a different, more topological, approach. As a result, the manifold $M$ carries a complete Riemannian metric of uniformly positive scalar curvature, which partially answers a conjecture of Gromov. More generally, the topological decomposition holds without any scalar curvature assumption under a weaker condition on the filling discs of closed curves in the universal cover based on the notion of fill radius. Moreover, the decay rate of the scalar curvature is optimal in this decomposition theorem. Indeed, the manifold $\mathbb{R}^2 \times \mathbb{S}^1$ supports a complete metric of positive scalar curvature with exactly quadratic decay, but does not admit a decomposition as a connected sum.

Abstract:We study isometric immersions $f: M^n \rightarrow \mathbb{H}^{n+1}$ into hyperbolic space of dimension $n+1$ of a complete Riemannian manifold of dimension $n$ on which a compact connected group of intrinsic isometries acts with principal orbits of codimension one. We provide a characterization if either $n \geq 3$ and $M^n$ is compact, or $n \geq 5$ and the connected components of the set where the sectional curvature is constant and equal to $-1$ are bounded.

Abstract:Among other things, we prove the following two topological statements about closed hyperbolic 3-manifolds. First, every rational second homology class of a closed hyperbolic 3-manifold has a positive integral multiple represented by an oriented connected closed pi(1)-injectively immersed quasi-Fuchsian subsurface. Second, every rationally null-homologous, pi(1)-injectively immersed oriented closed 1-submanifold in a closed hyperbolic 3-manifold has an equidegree finite cover which bounds an oriented connected compact pi(1)-injectively immersed quasi-Fuchsian subsurface. In, we exploit techniques developed by Kahn and Markovic but we only distill geometric and topological ingredients from those papers, so no hard analysis is involved in this article.
Mapping class group of manifolds which look like $3$-dimensional complete intersections

Abstract:In this paper we compute the mapping class group of closed simply-connected 6-manifolds $M$ which look like complete intersections, i.~e.~ $H_2(M;\mathbb Z) \cong \mathbb Z $ and $x^3 \ne 0$ where $x \in H^2(M; \mathbb Z)$ is a generator. We determine some algebraic properties of the mapping class group; for example we compute its abelianization and its center. We show that modulo the center the mapping class group is residually finite and virtually torsion-free. We also study low dimensional homology groups. The results are very similar to the computation of the mapping class group of Riemann surfaces. We give generators of the mapping class group, and generators and relations for the subgroup acting trivially on $\pi_{3}(M)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that for a sequence of orientable complete uniformly asymptotically flat $3$-manifolds $(M_i , g_i)$ with nonnegative scalar curvature and ADM mass $m(g_i)$ tending to zero, by subtracting some open subsets $Z_i$, whose boundary area satisfies $\mathrm{Area}(\partial Z_i) \leq Cm(g_i)^{1/2 - \varepsilon}$, for any base point $p_i \in M_i\setminus Z_i$, $(M_i\setminus Z_i,g_i,p_i)$ converges to the Euclidean space $(\mathbb{R}^3,g_E,0)$ in the $C^0$ modulo negligible volume sense. Moreover, if we assume that the Ricci curvature is uniformly bounded from below, then $(M_i, g_i, p_i)$ converges to $(\mathbb{R}^3,g_E,0)$ in the pointed Gromov-Hausdorff topology.

Abstract:The Theorem of Bonnet--Myers implies that manifolds with topology $M^{n-1} \times \mathbb{S}^1$ do not admit a metric of positive Ricci curvature, while the resolution of Geroch's conjecture implies that the torus $\mathbb{T}^n$ does not admit a metric of positive scalar curvature. In this work we introduce a new notion of curvature interpolating between Ricci and scalar curvature (so called $m$-intermediate curvature), and use stable weighted slicings to show that for $n \leq 7$ the manifolds $N^n = M^{n-m} \times \mathbb{T}^m$ do not admit a metric of positive $m$-intermediate curvature.

Abstract:The paper studies the geometric and topological properties of a complete noncompact Riemannian three-dimensional manifold with nonegative Ricct curvature. Abstract:Murphy and the second author showed that a generic closed Riemannian manifold has no totally geodesic submanifolds, provided it is at least four dimensional. Lytchak and Petrunin established the same thing in dimension 3. For the higher dimensional result, the generic set is open and dense in the $C^{q}$--topology for any $% q\geq 2.$ In Lytchak and Petrunin's work, the generic set is a dense $G_{\delta }$ in the $C^{q}$-topology for any $q\geq 2.$ Here we show that the set of such metrics on a compact $3$-manifold contains a set that is open and dense in the $C^{q}$-topology for any $q\geq 3.$
