A Retrospective to Evaluate Blood Glycometabolism in Hospitalized Elderly Patients Receiving Levofloxacin Injection

Abstract:Objective To study the effect of blood glycometabolism in hospitalized patients receiving levofloxacin injection.Methods To carry out a retrospective study on 685 patients,aged over 65,who were hospitalized in emergency room in Renji hospital from 2004.7 to 2006.7,and had received levofloxacin at least 3 days.Results Before and fater treatment with levofloxacin,there was no significant difference in fasting plasma glucose(FPG)levels among normal glucose metabolism and disordered glucose metabolism patients(P=0.564),patients with different hypoglycemic agents(P0.05),glucose metabolism patients(P=0.098),patients with brain tumors(P0.05),patients with hormone(P0.05),and patients with abnormal liver and kidney function(P0.05).Conclusion Levofloxacin has no siganificant effect on dysglycemia in elderly pantients.
