Abstract:A real time detection method was presented to realize automatic recognition and tracking of weak radar signals in disturbance environments. Because of the different features of target and disturbance echoes, the local convexity of signals was analyzed using orthogonal derivative wavelets to determine the target position according to the statistical probability of the convex intervals. Simulated and actual data were used to test the effectiveness of the method. The results show that the method can effectively detect the target position with signal to disturbance ratios (SDR) down to -5 dB and the algorithm is simple, stable, and easily implemented.

Abstract:In this paper, an effective detection method of radar signal is presented based on the wavelet analysis. The purpose of this paper is to provide the review of the wavelet analysis research and to detect radar target from radar echo. The theory of wavelet analysis is presented including continuous and discrete wavelet transform. Then specific application, namely radar target detection is presented. In this paper, using wavelet transform to preprocess the radar echo, we are able to obtain multiple data series at different scales of the wavelet transform. These multiple data series can then be used as input to sensors of independent component analysis for detection of a single independent source. The proposed method is applied to radar target detection using a real signal series. It is demonstrated that the method in combination with wavelet transform is effective with feasible result. It has greater theoretical significance and actual applied value in regarded to radar signal processing and target identifying in our aerial defense weapon system.

Abstract:A fundamental task of radar is the detection of targets in noise and clutter. It is very difficult to detect weak targets in heavy sea clutter. In this paper we apply the discrete wavelet transform (WT), along with multilayer feedforward neural networks, to the detection of radar weak targets. The wavelet transform employs the Haar scaling function, which is well matched to the signals from targets. The hard threshold filter is adopted to remove sea clutter. The neural networks are trained with the back-propagation rule, which are used to detect weak targets. The simulated results show that the proposed method is very effective for radar detection of weak targets.

Abstract:According to the signal characteristic of some kind of radar,proposed the intelligence fault diagnosis method based on the wavelet neural network and expert knowledge,the application of this method in the middle frequency receiver of the radar is introduced,the sampled signals,after wavelet de-noising and wavelet feature vector extraction and then normalization,as the input vector of the wavelet neural network,the wavelet function is selected as the activation transfer function of the hidden layer to complete the categories of the typical faults in the radar receiver.The actual example results of the simulation with MATLAB tools indicate that this method has accurate diagnosis and higher intelligence level and better self-learning power and improves the accuracy and efficiency of the fault diagnosis.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the weak life signal detection and extraction with wavelet multi-resolution analysis and threshold denoise method.Based on the virtual instrument technology,a radar life detection system is built to control the instrument and analyse the signal.According to doppler shift theory,radar signal will have life features after modulation by body micro-movements.With analysis of the signal,life can be detected.Wavelet transformation is applied in the denoise of weak life signal from strong background noise to extract the low frequency signals.In the actual test,life signal responds quickly with a smooth curve and has low group delay.After signal extraction from different frequency bands,we find that life signals concentrate within 15 Hz,and signals related to breathing,heartbeat,and movements can be abstracted effectively in this frequency band.Low frequency feature of wavelet transform has advantages in extracting breathing,heartbeat and body movement signals.

Abstract:Due to the weakness of weak space-borne radar target detection, an approach to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) with denoising by wavelet decomposition and threshold processing is developed. Two denoising methods in time domain and range domain are designed combined with the characteristic of the stepped frequency signal and its high-resolution range profile. Both of the methods are proved effective on noise-rejecting and improving SNR. The denoising method in range domain has a better performance compared to the other one.

Abstract:According to the characteristic of radar receiver signal,this paper proposed a new method in radar fault diagnosis,which combined wavelet transformation and Least Squares Support Vector Machine(LS-SVM).First,according to the expert's experiences,it selected the proper test point in the circuit,the sampled data characteristic was extracted and processed by wavelet transformation,then established the model of radar fault diagnosis,at last,the fault diagnosis in a certain type of radar receiver was applied by the basic principal and classification method of LS-SVM.The sampled signals were processed by wavelet de-noising in order to reduce error in sampling,and then applied wavelet decomposition to extract energy coefficient as the characteristic vectors of the radar,after normalization,they were the input vectors of the fault diagnosis model of radar,and the outputs of the model were used to complete the categories of the typical faults in the radar receiver.The actual example results of the simulation with MATLAB tools indicate that this method has better classification ability and improves the accuracy and efficiency of the fault diagnosis.

Abstract:For the detection of weak signal in strong noise background, a novel method was proposed based on conventional detection method. This method referred to the weak signal detection using autocorrelation jointed with wavelet threshold transformation and frequency modulation. The united denoising system of autocorrelation and wavelet threshold transformation was combined, so the negative impact from the noise was avoided greatly in the detection result. Using standard signal with adjustable frequency to modulate the measured signal frequency, thus the frequency difference of standard signal and the measured signal meet the testing conditions. It broke the restrictions of Duffing oscillator, which can only detect signals with the frequency similar to the system periodic driving force. The twooscillator-difference method is more intuitive, having good anti-noise performance, and the relative error is controlled under 5%. The system has a strong anti-interference, and the minimum signal-to-noise ratio can reach −41 dB. The feasibility and validity of this method were proved by the simulation results.

Abstract:Based on chaotic oscillator system and wavelet transform system, this paper proposes a novel method on high frequency weak signal detection. Chaotic system is a typical non-linear system which is sensitive to certain signals and immune to noise at the same time. Its properties demonstrate the potential application on weak signal detection. Due to the good localization in both time domain and frequency domain, the wavelet transform method can automatically adjust to different frequency components and increase the Signal-to-Noise Ratio. Starting from the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of two signal detection methods, we put forward a combined method that takes advantage of each method to detect weak signals with high frequency. The simulation results show that the novel method can detect weak signals with frequency in an order of magnitude of 107Hz, and the input Signal-to-Noise Ratio threshold could be-42.5dB.

Abstract:A time-frequency analysis method for non-stationary signals,deriving from the improved Hilbert-Huang Transform(HHT),was proposed.Based on the current theory of HHT,the sifting stop guide is improved so that the precision and correctness of the empirical mode decomposition(EMD) is enhanced.The whole process of Hilbert spectrum analysis is also given and is combined with the corresponding modified EMD.Through the time-frequency distribution characteristics,the HHT method is adopted to detect radar target signal in the form of linear frequency modulated continuous waveform(FMCW) signals in strong noise background and extract the interference one as important potential applications.The simulation results suggest the effectiveness of this new method in low-SNR non-stationary signal analysis.

Abstract:Developments of signal analysis and wavelet transform from the viewpoint of time-frequency analysis are surveyed, and the superiorities of wavelet transform as applied to signal processing are inquiered into and the potential applications of wavelet transform to radar signal processing are focused on, especially on its application to wideband or ultra-wideband radars. Further, radar ambiguity function analysis, signal detection and parameter estimation, and recognition of radar targers using wavelet transform are discussed. Finally, the prospects of applications of wavelet transform to signal processing are looked into.

Abstract:Hough transform is usually used for target detection as an incoherent integration method. However, it is not suitable for weak target detection under low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) background. To solve this problem, a wavelet based de-noising method is proposed, which can be used for weak target detection of pulse compression radar. In this method, the pulse compressed echo signals are first denoised by a modified wavelet threshold filtering method and then the denoised echo signals are incoherently integrated by Hough transform. This method can effectively eliminate the noise in pulse compressed echo, resolving the frequency aliasing problem of the echo signal and noise. Finally, numerical simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
A New Method for Detecting and Simulating Turbulence Signals of Airborne Weather Radar

Abstract:In order to accurately detect the turbulence signals of an airborne weather radar, we use the Welch method to process its turbulence signals.We establish the wind field simulation model and define the turbulence scale and turbulence intensity.Then we use the wind field simulation model to establish the turbulence echo signal model and then use the Welch method to estimate the velocity spectrum and spectral width of turbulence signals.Fi-nally we use a certain threshold to determine that the airborne target, whose spectral width exceeds the threshold, is a turbulence target and display its full-screen scan results.The simulation results, given in Figs.3 through 10, and their analysis show preliminarily that:( 1) our new method can accurately estimate the distribution of wind speed in the turbulence echo signals;( 2) our new method preserves more spectral characteristics and has better spectral res-olution than the conventional fast Fourier transform, thus meeting the requirements for detecting turbulence targets of an airborne weather radar.

Abstract:Based on the multi-resolution of wavelet transform and chaotic system having a good immunity to noise and sensitive to weak periodical signal,a new method of weak signal detection was proposed based on the combination of the wavelet threshold de-noising and chaotic system by improving wavelet threshold de-noising and duffing oscillator.This method uses wavelet smoothing effect to the limited discrete processing of the signal that contains noise and uses the scale of the wavelet decomposition to determine the de-nosing depth,and then uses the reconstructed signal as the driving motivation of the perturbation cycle into the chaotic system.The chaotic oscillator array is applied to detect weak signal in noisy background,and Melnikov method is adopted as chaotic criterion.This new method has overcome the blindness to the determination of scale and irrationality choice to the threshold of past method of the wavelet decomposition,as well as the ambiguity to distinguish between the critical state and periodic motion state.At the same time,multi-frequency signal can be detected.The simulation results indicate that this detection method is simple and effective,and the detection precision is high.The minimum detection SNR reaches -100 dB and the frequency error is about 0.04%.The weak signal buried in strong noise detection method is improved.

Abstract:The problem of process monitoring was defined by using the principle of pattern recognition. After the analysis of time-frequency character of discrete wavelet transform, a means to extract the features of frequency band in real process measurement signals based on discrete wavelet transform was studied. Meanwhile, a new pattern classification algorithm was proposed to induce the relationship of the extracted features and corresponding process conditions. The induction result is applied to process monitoring, which verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.

Abstract:Traditional time -domain adaptive filtering has limitation in signal detection and estimation under condition of low SNR. Therefore,a method of weak signal detection based on FRFT-domain adaptive filtering algorithm is presented. The method utilizes excellent features of FRFT (Fractional Fourier Transformation) specific to LFM signals,processes echo signals through adaptive filtering algorithm on FRFT domain and improves detection effects. Simulation results show that the proposed method can detect and estimate echo signals effectively under condition of low SNR and exceeds time-domain adaptive filtering on filtering effects.
