Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of functionals subject to a duality restriction. The functional is of the form J(Ω,Ω*)=∫Ωf+∫Ω*g $\mathcal{J}\left({\Omega},{{\Omega}}^{{\ast}}\right)={\int }_{{\Omega}}f+{\int }_{{{\Omega}}^{{\ast}}}g$ , where f, g are given nonnegative functions in a manifold. The duality is a relation α(x, y) ≤ 0 ∀ x ∈ Ω, y ∈ Ω*, for a suitable function α. This model covers several geometric and physical applications. In this paper we review two topological methods introduced in the study of the functional, and discuss possible extensions of the methods to related problems.

Abstract:The n-divided difference of the composite function h := f circle g of functions f, g at a group of nodes t(o), t(1),...t(n) is shown by the combinations of divided differences of f at the group of nodes g(t(o)), g(t(1)),..., g(t(m)) and divided differences of g at several partial group of nodes t(o), t(1),...,t(n), where m = 1, 2,..., n. Especially, when the given group of nodes are equal to each other completely, it will lead to Fah di Bruno's formula of higher derivatives of function h.

Abstract:Let f and g be two permutable transcendental entire functions. Assume that f has the formf(z) = p(z) + p(1)(z)e(q1(z)) + p(2)(z)e(q2(z)).We shall investigate the dynamical properties of f and g and show that they have the same Julia sets and Fatou sets, i.e., J(f) = J(g). This relates to an open question due to Baker.

Abstract:We consider a gradient flow generated by a complex Hessian functional which is defined on compact Kahler manifolds. By setting up the a priori estimates of the admissible solutions, we prove the long-time existence of the solution to the flow and its convergence. Thus we show the functional admits a local minimal point in the space of admissible functions. As its application, we show the solvability of a class of complex Hessian equations.

Abstract:We treat two quite different problems related to changes of complex structures on Kähler manifolds by using global geometric method. First, by using operators from Hodge theory on compact Kähler manifold, we present a closed explicit extension formula for holomorphic canonical forms in different complex structures. As applications, we give a closed explicit formula for certain canonical sections of Hodge bundles on marked and polarized moduli spaces of projective manifolds, and provide a closed explicit extension formula for holomorphic pluricanonical forms under certain natural conditions. Second, by using the operators in L^2-Hodge theory on Poincaré disk, we present a simple and unified method to solve the Beltrami equations with measurable coefficients for quasi-conformal maps.

Abstract:We consider the dynamical properties of transcendental entire functions and their compositions. We give several conditions under which Fatou set of a transcendental entire function $f$ coincide with that of $f\circ g,$ where $g$ is another transcendental entire function. We also prove some result giving relationship between singular values of transcendental entire functions and their compositions.

Abstract:In 1985, <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://W.K.Hayman" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> (Bayer. Akad. Wiss. Math.-Natur. Kl. Sitzungsber, 1984(1985), 1-13.) proved that there do not exist non-constant meromorphic functions $f,$ $g$ and $h$ satisfying the functional equation $f^n+g^n+h^n=1$ for $n\geq 9.$ We prove that there do not exist non-constant meromorphic solutions $f,$ $g,$ $h$ satisfying the functional equation $f^8+g^8+h^8=1.$ In 1971, N. Toda (Tôhoku Math. J. 23(1971), no. 2, 289-299.) proved that there do not exist non-constant entire functions $f,$ $g,$ $h$ satisfying $f^n+g^n+h^n=1$ for $n\geq 7.$ We prove that there do not exist non-constant entire functions $f,$ $g,$ $h$ satisfying the functional equation $f^6+g^6+h^6=1.$ Our results answer questions of G. G. Gundersen.

Abstract:By establishing a new proper variational framework and using the critical point theory, we establish some new existence criteria to guarantee that the 2nth-order nonlinear difference equation containing both advance and retardation with p-Laplacian Delta(n)(r(t - n) Phi p(Delta(n)u(t - 1))) + q(t)Phi p (u(t)) = f (t,u(t + n),.,u(t),.,u(t - n)), n is an element of Z, has infinitely many homoclinic orbits, where Phi p(s) is p-Laplacian operator; Phi p(s) = |s|(p-2)s(1 < p < infinity) r, q, f are nonperiodic in t. Our conditions on the potential are rather relaxed, and some existing results in the literature are improved.

Abstract:We study the functional identity $G(x)f(x)=H(x)$ on a division ring $D$, where $f \colon D\to D$ is an additive map and $G(X)\ne 0, H(X)$ are generalized polynomials in the variable $X$ with coefficients in $D$. Precisely, it is proved that either $D$ is finite-dimensional over its center or $f$ is an elementary operator. Applying the result and its consequences, we prove that if $D$ is a noncommutative division ring of characteristic not $2$, then the only solution of additive maps $f, g$ on $D$ satisfying the identity $f(x) = x^n g(x^{-1})$ with $n\ne 2$ a positive integer is the trivial case, that is, $f=0$ and $g=0$. This extends Catalano and Merchán's result in 2023 to get a complete solution.

Abstract:Let us consider f as being an entire solution of the differential-difference equation G(z, f)+h(z)fm(z) = 0, (m ∈ N), where h(z) is a transcendental entire function and G(z, f) is a differential-difference polynomial in f with entire coefficients. By considering the order and deficiency of h(z) and such coefficients, we mainly study the radial distribution of f, and establish a lower bound of measure for the set of common limiting directions of the Julia sets of derivatives and primitives of its shifts.
