Diagnosis and treatment of anomalous origin of left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery

Abstract:Objectives To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of anomalous origin of left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery.Methods Electrocardiogram,echocardiography,cardiac angiography and surgical treatment were reviewed in 16 patients with anomalous origin of left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery.Results(1)Electrocardiogram:T wave reversed in leadsⅠ,Ⅱ,aVL,V5,V6 and ST segment depressed in 9 patients,6 patients had abnormal Q wave.T wave reversed in leadsⅠ,Ⅱ,aVL,V5 and V6 were found in 4 patients.(2)Echocardiography:16 patients were diagnosed by echocardiography.Two patients accompanied with atrial septal defect(ASD).Left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)declined in 6 patients.(3)Fifteen patients underwent cardiac angiography.Two patients accompanied with ASD.One patient accompanied with patent ductus arteriosus.(4)Surgical treatment:All patients underwent surgical treatment.Two patients were dead.Conclusions Characteristic EKG is helpful in the diagnosis of anomalous origin of left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery.Echocardiography has important values in the diagnosis of this disease.Combined with cardiac angiography,the diagnosis can be made more accurate.When the diagnosis is established,the surgery should be performed as early as possible.
