Abstract:As the study of Reproductive Technology's in-depth,sex-control becomes consummate day by day and it also been used in stock raising. Abstract:Mammal sex determination depends on whether the X sperm or Y sperm binds to the oocyte during fertilization. If the X sperm joins in oocyte, the offspring will be female, if the Y sperm fertilizes, the offspring will be male. Livestock sex control technology has tremendous value for livestock breeding as it can increase the proportion of female offspring and improve the efficiency of livestock production. This review discusses the detailed differences between mammalian X and Y sperm with respect to their morphology, size, and motility in the reproductive tract and in in vitro conditions, as well as 'omics analysis results. Moreover, research progress in mammalian sex control technology has been summarized.

Abstract:Aquaculture is one of the most efficient modes of animal protein production and plays an important role in global food security. Aquaculture animals exhibit extraordinarily diverse sexual phenotypes and underlying mechanisms, providing an ideal system to perform sex determination research, one of the important areas in life science. Moreover, sex is also one of the most valuable traits because sexual dimorphism in growth, size, and other economic characteristics commonly exist in aquaculture animals. Here, we synthesize current knowledge of sex determination mechanisms, sex chromosome evolution, reproduction strategies, and sexual dimorphism, and also review several approaches for sex control in aquaculture animals, including artificial gynogenesis, application of sex-specific or sex chromosome-linked markers, artificial sex reversal, as well as gene editing. We anticipate that better understanding of sex determination mechanisms and innovation of sex control approaches will facilitate sustainable development of aquaculture.

Abstract:Production of transgenic animals is one of the most important fields in modern biotechnology. Up to now, there have been many transgenic animals, such as transgenic mice, rabbits, sheep, goats, swine cattles, chickens and fish and so on. In this paper, the methods transgenic animals, the application of transgenic animals, and the main achievements having been obtained so far are briefly reviewed. At the same time, present problems and prospects in transgenic animals are put forward.

Abstract:The development of the spermatogonial transplantation technique has given new impetus to reveal spermatogenesis, self-renewable and hormone control of spermatogonial stem cells proliferation. It will be a valuable technique for animal breeding, rare species preservation and transgenic animal generation. This article provides a comprehensive overview of isolation, purification, cryopreservation and transplantation of spermatogonial stem cells. Perspectives were forecasted in applications of spermatogonial stem cell transplantation in domestic animals.

Abstract:Inhibin INH is a heter-chinmeric glycoprotein hormone containing a common α-subunit and one of two β-subunit and are present in two form:inhibin A(α/B-A)and inhibin B(α/B-B),which is secreted by granular cells in ovarian and sertolic cells in testis. Inhibin selectively inhibits follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) synthesis and/or release. Immunoneutralization of inhibin specially stimulates the secretion of FSH by pituitary, facilitatea gamates production, and then raises animal reproduction. This article reviewed the research progress of inhibin and its effects on the reproduction of livestock.

Abstract:There are two traditional methods of sexing birds: surgical and cytological. The former examines the gonads directly and carries the risk of causing sterility. The latter examines chromosomes in the cell nucleus assigning sex based on the size difference between W and Z chromosomes, but is prone to subjective error. At present, the molecular method of sexing birds, which is based on sex-linked genes or DNA, employs the most advanced analytical methods such as PCR and Southern Blot Hybridization. This method is simple, cheap and effective. It plays an important role in both the conservation of rare and endangered birds and scientific research.

Abstract:In vitro fertilization(IVF)technique has been maturity and more perfect,so it had setting solid foundation for the development and industrialization in cowin vitro-propagation.In this study,pregnancy rate and calf sex ratio of the nonsex control IVF embryos with artificial insemination were compared,and it was found that pregnancy rate was same between two groups and the proportion of male in the IVF group was higher than internal fertilized group.Selecting the sex control and non-sex control seminal fluid to carry out IVF test,followed by molecular identification of cowSRYgene for the non-sex control and the sex control IVF embryos.The results showed that the male proportion of sex control IVF embryos was obviously lower than the non-sex control group.In addition,the authors also compared the blastocyst rate of the sex control with non-sex control IVF embryos,but there was no-remarkable difference between the two groups.It demonstrated that sex control IVF could be used to accelerate the industrialization of high-quality cow embryos.This study encouraged that sex control IVF embryos propagation will be the applied prospect of improving dairy industry,and realize the sex control embryos industrialization.
