Abstract:Objective To investigate serum Resistin levels in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS) [acute myocardial infarction(AMI),unstable angina pectoris(UAP)] and stable angina pectoris(AP).Methods 24 patients with AMI,19 patients with UAP,22 patients with AP and 26 healthy individuals were randomly selected.The method of ELISA was used to determine the serum Resistin level.Routine biochemical methods were conducted to measure WBC,hsCRP,CK,CK-MB and cTnI.Results Serum Resistin levels of AMI,UAP and AP groups were higher than that of control group(p<0.05).Serum Resistin level of AMI group was higher than that of UAP and AP groups(p<0.05).Serum Resistin level of UAP group was higher than that of AP group(p<0.05).Serum Resistin positively correlated with WBC(r=0.412,p<0.05),hsCRP(r=0.427,p<0.05),CKmax(r=0.731,p<0.01),CK-MBmax(r=0.678,p<0.01) and cTnImax(r=0.656,p<0.01),respectively.Conclusions Serum Resistin level is closely related to inflammatory factor level and myocardial impairment.Serum Resistin may play an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and AMI as an inflammatory factor.
Elevated Levels of Serum Resistin in Type 2 Diabetic Patients and Those with Coronary Artery Diseases

Abstract:Objective To observe the significance of changes in serum resistin levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) and T2DM with coronary artery diseases(CAD) .Methods Serum resistin levels were measured with ELISA in 40 T2DM patients(T2DM group) ,38 T2DM patients with CAD(T2DM/CAD group) and 34 healthy subjects(control group) .Results The average resistin level In T2DM/CAD group(7.02±4.86 ng/ml) was significantly higher than that in the control group[(2.52±1.88) ng/ml,P=0.0001 ] ;and that in T2DM group[(4.96±3.03) ng/ml ]was also significantly higher than that in the control group(P=0.04) .The average resistin level In T2DM/CAD group was elevated when compared with that in T2DM groups(P=0.011) .Conclusion It is suggested that resistin has close relation to T2DM and CAD,which might play an important role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases characteristic of metabolic syndrome.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the changes of serum resistin level in patients with acute coronary syndrome and its possible pathologic role.Methods Fasting serum resistin levels were measured in 37 patients with acute coronary syndrome(acute myocardial infarction 19 cases,unstable angina pectoris 18 cases)and 26 normal control subjects with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results The serum resistin level in acute coronary syndrome patients was significantly higher than that in healthy controls(11.60±5.98 μg/dl vs 4.17±(2.24) μg/dl,P0.05)and the serum resistin level in acute myocardial infarction group was significantly higher than that in unstable angina pectoris group(15.12±5.06 μg/dl vs 7.67±4.28 μg/dl,P0.05).The serum resistin level was positively correlated with the peak value of troponin I,creatine phosphokinase and its MB isoenzyme(r=0.545,P0.01;r=0.541,P0.01;r=0.508,P0.01,respectively),and was negatively correlated with body fat percentage and high density lipoprotein(r=-0.386,P0.05;(r=)-0.335,P0.05,respectively).Conclusions Serum resistin level is associated with the size of injured myocardium,serum lipoprotein and body fat.Resistin may be involved in the development of atherosclerosis and acute coronary syndrome.
To Explore the Relationship between Clinical Serum Markers and Intracoronary in-stent Restenosis

Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between serum markers and coronary in-stent restenosis after drug-eluting stent implantation. Methods The study enrolled 214 patients who underwent drug-eluting stent implantation and accepted coronary angiography for recurrent chest pain or routine follow-up.The vascular's diameter stenosis ≥50% was used as a definition of restenosis.Patient's clinical data and risk factors for CHD were collected,and the clinical serum markers were detected.Results Among the 214 patients(278 lesions), restenosis occurred in 90 patients(110 lesions) and the restenosis rate was 42.1%.Compared to non-restenosis group,serum markers such as lipoprotein a,conjugated bilirubin,glutamic pyruvictransaminase,aspartate aminotransferase,cholinesterase and fibrinogen in restenosis group had no significant difference;indexes such as serum LDL/HDL,total bile acid,uric acid,alkaline phosphatase and glutaminoacytransferase levels were higher and serum total bilirubin level was lower in restenosis group than those in non-restenosis group(P<0.05).As a result of multivariate regression analysis,diabetes(OR=1.038),high serum level of LDL/HDL(OR=1.542),high total bile acid(OR=1.197),high urine acid(OR=1.113)and long lesion(OR=1.331) were risk factors contributed to restenosis(P<0.05),while high serum total bilirubin level(OR=0.891)was a protecting factor to restenosis(P<0.05).Conclusions Some clinical serum markers such as total bilirubin,total bile acid,urine acid,and LDL/HDL level are closely correlated with in-stent restenosis after drug-eluting stent implantation in coronary artery.
Relationship Between Serum Concentrations of IL-18, IL-10, IL-6 and Acute Coronary Syndrome

Abstract:AIM: To examine the relation between serum concentrations of interleukin-18, interleukin-10, interleukin-6 and acute coronary syndrome (ACS). METHODS: Serum concentrations of IL-18, IL-10, IL-6 were measured in 17 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), 30 patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP), 15 patients with stable angina pectoris (SAP) and 20 controls by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and radioimmunoassay (RIA).The relation between IL-18, IL-6 and IL-10 was compared. RESULTS: Serum concentrations of IL-18, IL-6 were significantly increased in the AMI and UAP groups in comparison with the SAP and control groups. Conversely, serum concentrations of IL-10 were significantly decreased in the AMI and UAP groups in comparison with the SAP and control groups. The correlation of concentrations of IL-18 and IL-6 had no significance; but the levels of IL-18 and IL-6 were negatively correlated with IL-10. CONCLUSION: Serum IL-18, IL-6 concentrations increase while serum IL-10 concentration decreases in patients with acute coronary syndromes. The inflammatory imbalance between IL-18, IL-6 and IL-10 may play an important role in the instability of atherosclerotic plaque.
Association Between Serum Resistin Level and Cardiovascular Events in Postmenopausal Women with Acute Coronary Syndrome Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Abstract:Background As an adipocytokine, resistin has been proposed as a link between inflammation, metabolic disorder and atherosclerosis. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether serum resistin is associated with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) among postmenopausal women with ACS undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods A total of 106 consecutive postmenopausal women who underwent coronary angiography for evaluation of suspected myocardial ischemia were enrolled. Pre-procedure serum resistin, inflammatory and metabolic biomarkers were measured. All participants were followed for seven years for MACEs, including cardiovascular death, recurrent nonfatal myocardial infarction, and re-PCI. Results Patients with ACS (n=69) had significantly higher resistin levels than those without coronary artery disease (CAD) (n=37) (4.61 (1.79-10.80) ng/ml vs. 2.36 (0.85-4.15) ng/ml, P=0.002). Correlation analysis revealed positive correlations between resistin levels and inflammatory and metabolic factors (P <0.05). A follow-up of a mean of 83.4 months showed that patients with ACS suffered more MACEs than those without (13.0% vs. 2.7%, P=0.05). Adjusted for cardiovascular risks, inflammatory and metabolic factors, multiple Logistic regression analysis indicated that an elevated resistin level was an independent predictor of ACS onset (OR=1.139, 95% CI 1.024-1.268, P=0.017) and of MACEs after PCI (OR=1.099, 95% CI 1.015-1.189, P=0.019). To clarify the association between resistin levels and MACEs, ACS patients were divided into two subgroups on the basis of resistin levels. Compared with the low resistin subgroup (≥4.35 ng/ml, n=32), patients in the high resistin subgroup (>4.35 ng/ml, n=37) were more prone to suffer MACEs (21.6% vs. 3.1%, P=0.015). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed a significantly lower event-free survival rate in ACS patients with high resistin levels than in the low resistin subgroup (78.4% vs. 96.9%, Log rank 5.594, P=0.018). Conclusion An elevated serum resistin level is associated with ACS and cardiovascular events and acts as a predictor in progression of ACS in postmenopausal women.
Increased serum resistin level is associated with coronary heart disease

Abstract:To explore the relationship between the serum resistin level and different types of coronary heart diseases (CHD). Literature was retrieved by formal searching of PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, the Cochrane Library, Wanfang Data, China Biological Medicine Database (SinoMed) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and by hand searching of reference lists of related articles. RevMan5.3 statistical software was utilized for processing and analysis. A total of 22 literatures involving 2070 subjects were included. Meta-analysis showed that the level of serum resistin in the patients with stable angina (SA), unstable angina(UA) or acute myocardial infarction (AMI) were significantly higher than those of normal controls, respectively [SMD(95% CI) were 1.97(1.15, 2.79), 2.54(1.76, 3.31), and 3.62(2.62, 4.62), all P<0.00001]. Serum resistin level in patients with UA or AMI was higher than those in patients with SA, respectively [SMD=0.90, 95CI(0.28,1.52), P=0.005], [SMD=2.28, 95% CI(0.74, 3.82), P=0.004]. The level of serum resistin in patients with AMI was also higher than those in patients with UA [SMD=1.22, 95% CI(0.58, 1.85), P=0.0002]. The study demonstrated that increased serum resistin level is significantly associated with the severity of CHD.
Relationship between resistin and acute myocardial infarction in postmenopausal women

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the correlation between the level of serum resistin and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in postmenopausal women. Methods Sixty-seven consecutive postmenopausal women patients were admitted in our hospital and were performed coronary angiography (CAG). In all patients resistin, fasting blood glucose, insulin, high sensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP), fibrinogen levels and lipid profile were measured. Quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI) and Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) were calculated to evaluate insulin resistance. AMI patients were divided into two groups: high resistin group (the blood resistin level was more than 7.4 μg/L, n=13) and low resistin group (the blood resistin level was less than 7.4 μg/L, n=17). These patients were then followed-up for 8 years after hospitalization. General condition, treatment and adverse events including cardiovascular motality, recurrent myocardial infarction or pectoris angina, rehospitalization for heart failure and revascularization procedure were recorded. Results Thirty-seven patients were diagnosed as AMI with the level of serum resistin being 5.04(1.20-12.45)μg/L. Thirty patients with normal coronary artery were diagnosed as non-CHD and the level of resistin was 1.57(0.32-3.55)μg/L (P<0.05). In multiple Logistic regression analysis, resistin level were associated with AMI. Kendall's tau_b correlation analysis reveals a positive correlation between serum resistin level and white blood cell count (r=0.459, P<0.05), hs-CRP (r=0.344, P<0.05). During the follow-up, AMI patients with high serum resistin level had more occurrence rate of clinical events compared with AMI patients with low serum resistin level (61.5% vs. 23.5%, P=0.035). Conclusions Serum resistin level in postmenopausal women was correlated with AMI significantly, and resistin may play an important role in the development of AMI by inflammatory mechanism.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the relationship between autoantibodies against oxidized low density lipoprotein(oxLDL-Ab) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in coronary artery disease(CAD). Methods Serum samples were taken from 61 patients with CAD,116 patients with essential hypertension(EH) and 123 control individuals. The levels of oxLDL-Ab and hs-CRP were quantitatively analyzed. Results The patients with CAD had significantly higher levels of oxLDL-IgG 21.48 (17.58～29.01)U/L, oxLDL-IgM 4.71 (3.88～7.06) U/L and hs-CRP 3.27 (1.32～6.80) mg/L than EH group 15.93 (11.12～22.26)U/L, 2.54 (1.17～5.05)U/L, 0.79 (0.42～1.87) mg/L and healthy control group 11.12 (4.70～16.57)U/L, 1.61 (0.60～3.03)U/L, 0.74 (0.48～1.50) mg/L. (P0.001). There was no significant difference in the serum hs-CRP betweenthe EH group and the control group(P0.05).There was no association between oxLDL-IgG or IgM and hs-CRP among the three groups. Conclusion These results partially show that the relation of chronic inflammation, autoimmunity and CAD. oxLDL-Ab and hs-CRP respectively maybe play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the relationship between serum levels of soluble Fas(sFas), soluble Fas li gand(sFasL), soluble IL-2 receptor(sIL-2R) and coronary heart disease (CHD). METHODS: With enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) tests, sFas, sFasL and sIL-2R were measured in the sera from 30 patients with CHD and 26 subjects without CHD as controls. RESTULTS: Mean level of sFas was significantly higher in patients with CHD than in controls [(1 583.41+/-174.46)ng/L compared with (1 374.55+/-142.42)ng/L, P<0.01]. Compared with the controls, the mean level of sIL-2R was significantly higher in patients with CHD [(944.50+/-395.59)ng/L compared with (652.45+/-163.36)ng/L P<0.01]. Moreover, in patients with CHD sFas and sIL-2R were positively correlated (r=0.418 P<0.05). Whereas no such difference was found between both groups in sFasL (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: High levels of serum sFas and sIL-2R were associated with CHD, and elevation of sFas may inhibit apoptosis in activated T cells, leading to coronary events.
Effects of Different Doses of Rosuvastatin on High-sensitivity C-reactive Protein(hs-CRP) and Interleukin-6 (IL-6) in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of different doses of rosuvastatin on serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein( hs-CRP)and interleukin-6( IL-6) in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).Methods 72 ACS patients were randomized into high dose group( n= 36,rosuvastatin was 20mg/d based routine therapy) and low dose group( n= 36,rosuvastatin was 10mg/d based routine therapy).Each group was given the same basic treatments,and taken the different doses of rosuvastatin for 4 weeks.Levels of blood lipids,serum hs-CRP and IL-6 were measured before and after the treatment; adverse reaction was monitored at the same time.Results Levels of total cholesterol( TC),low density lipoprotein C( LDL-C),serum h-s CRP and IL-6 in two groups were significantly decreased before and after the treatment( P< 0.01),while high density lipoprotein C( HDL-C) was significantly rose( P < 0.05).After the treatment,levels of serum h-s CRP and IL-6 decreased more significantly in the high dose group than those in the low dose group( P < 0.01),but no significant difference was found in the adverse reaction( P < 0.05).Conclusions Rosuvastatin,especially high dose,may reduce the levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 in ACS patients in the early time,without increasing adverse reaction.

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the the relationship between severity of coronary artery disease(CAD) and high sensitive-C reaction protein(hs-CRP) as well as insulin resistance(IR).Method:Ninety two CAD patients diagnosed by coronary arteriography were divided into two groups according to clinical sign: 41 patients in stable angina(SA) and 51 patients in acute coronary syndromes(ACS).And these patients were also divided into three groups according to the number of impaired coronary ateries: 35 patients with one-vessel stenosis,28 patients with two-vessel stenosis and 29 patients with three-vessel stenosis.All patients were measured fasting blood glucose,fasting insulin,hs-CRP and Genisini scold.The status of insulin resistance was evaluated with HOMA(homeostasis model assessment).Result:①hs-CRP(3.34±3.91 vs 18.39±15.93),IRI(1.57±0.96 vs 3.09±1.64) and Genisini scold(35.31±28.32 vs 64.74±32.83) were significantly lower in SA group than that in ACS group,P<0.01.②IRI(2.04±1.17 vs 2.28±1.64 vs 3.61±1.53) were significantly lower in one-vessel stenosis、two-vessel stenosis group than that in three-vessel stenosis group,P<0.05;hs-CRP(8.68±11.08 vs 18.24±18.30) were significantly lower in one-vessel stenosis group than that in three-vessel stenosis group,P<0.05.③Gensini scold was positive correlated with IR、hs-CRP(r=0.508,P<0.01;r=0.489,P<0.01),hs-CRP and IR was positive correlated(r=0.536,P<0.01).Conclusion:IR and hs-CRP were correlated with the degree of coronary artery stenosis.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the role of C-reactive protein (CRP ) and fibrinogen(FG ) in the the pathogenesis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Method: Rate nephelometry with the Beckman systems was used to measure the plasma levels of CRP, FG, cTnI, CPK, CPK-MB, LDH,α-HAD and GOT in patients with ACS and none ACS as control. Result: The peak levels of CRP, FG, cTnI, CPK, CPK-MB, LDH,α-HAD and GOT in ACS group were significantly higher than those of control group(P 0.01). The peak levels of CRP, FG, cTnI, CPK, CPK-MB, LDH,α-HAD and GOT in STAMI and NSTAMI groups were also obviously higher than those of control group(P 0.01). Although the levels of CRP and FG in UAP group were significantly higher than those of control group(P 0.01), the levels of cTnI, CPK, CPK-MB, LDH,α-HAD and GOT in UAP group didn't significantly increase compared with non-ACS group(P 0.05). The level of CRP in ACS group was positively correlated with the peak level of cTnI, CPK,CPK-MB, LDH,α-HAD and GOT(P 0.01), the level of FG in ACS group was correlated with the peak level of α-HAD. Conclusion: The plasma levels of CRP and FG in ACS group are significantly elevated; the plasma level of CRP in ACS group is associated with the severity of the disease (myocardial damage), indicating that CRP play an important role in the pathogenesis of ACS.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the application of serum levels of interleukin-18(IL-18) and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) detection in acute coronary symptoms.Methods The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) determination of 150 patients with serum IL-18,MMP-9 levels.Results Serum IL-18,MMP-9 levels in 9 patients with acute coronary syndrome was significantly higher in the control group and stable angina pectoris difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05);Double support and three vascular disease in patients with serum IL-18,MMP-9 levels higher than those of the control group,the difference between groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions ACS serum IL-18 and MMP-9 levels increased plaque stability is expected as a predictor of ACS.Serum IL-18,MMP-9 in patients with acute coronary syndrome has important clinical value.

Method:There are 85 coronary heart diseases(CHD)patients diagnosised by CAG including 54 ACS patients, 27 SAP patients,and 24 non-CAD patients are excluded by CAG as the control group and 58 ACS patients are separated into 22 AMI and 36 UAP patients.Every sample's serum MMP-9 level is detected by ELISA method.Result:Before CAG,the concentration of MMP-9 in ACS, SAP, AMI, UAP and control group is ( 26.85± 6.25) μg/L, ( 17.35± 7.12)μg/L, ( 32.56± 6.55)μg/L, ( 24.78± 5.76) μg/L, ( 16.83± 5.92)μg/L reseparately.There are remarkable statistics difference among AMI、UAP and SAP group,and so is it between AMI and UAP group,but there is no remarkable statistics difference between SAP group and control group.There is obvious correlation among the level of serum MMP-9 and the CRP level, WBC number, pathologic coronaries' score、pathologic stenosis' s degree.but there is no obvious correlation between the level of MMP-9 and the pathologic coronaries' number the level of cTnI, CK-MB, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C and the number of platelet.After PTCA,the level of MMP-9 is higher than that before PTCA.Conclution:The concentration of MMP-9 in ACS patients are higher obviously,and they are related to the stability of coronary plaque;MMP-9 contribute to type the CHD and could be the important monitering matkers for CHD in clinic practices.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To assess the value of serum soluble lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1) levels and LOX-1 mRNA expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in early diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS).METHODS:Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect the levels of plasma ox-LDL and LOX-1 in 95 patients with ACS, 60 with stable angina pectoris (SAP) and 40 normal control subjects. The expression of LOX-1 mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells was detected by RT-PCR in the 3 groups.RESULTS:The levels of ox-LDL, LOX-1 and LOX-1 mRNA in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells were significantly higher in ACS patients than in SAP patients and normal control subjects (P<0.05). In ACS group, the level of plasma ox-LDL was significantly correlated to serum LOX-1 and LOX-1 mRNA expression in peripheral mononuclear cells.CONCLUSION:The level of plasma soluble LOX-1 and LOX-1 mRNA in peripheral mononuclear cells are significantly increased in ACS, and when combined, they provide a useful means for detecting ACS in the prophase.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between serum levels of high sensitivity C-reactive protein Hs-CRP and cardiac events after percutaneous coronary intervention PCI in patients with stable angina. Methods The study group consisted of 115 stable angina patients with normal baseline Hs-CRP levels who underwent single vessel PCI. Plasma samples were obtained at 24 48 and 72 h after the procedure and serum Hs-CRP levels were analyzed. During the 12-month follow-up period coronary angiography was performed in all patients who developed symptoms suggestive of coronary restenosis. Results After procedure plasma Hs-CRP levels markedly increased reaching a peak value at 48 h P0.05 vs baseline values. Cardiac events at follow-up occurred in 17 patients with persistently abnormal Hs-CRP levels 72 h after the procedure by contrast no cardiac event occurred in patients with normal Hs-CRP at discharge P0.05. All 17 patients underwent repeated coronary angiography which showed in-stent coronary restenosis. Conclusion In patients with stable angina normal Hs-CRP levels 72 h after PCI identifies a subset of patients who less likely develop cardiovascular events during follow-up.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the alteration of serum resistin levels in normal pregnancy and preeclampsia. METHODS:Blood samples were take from 28 normal non-pregnant women, 27 women in the 1st, 26 in the 2nd and 26 in the 3rd trimester of normal pregnancy and 25 women with preeclampsia. Serum resistin concentration was determined using ELISA method. RESULT:Serum levels of resistin were not significantly different among non-pregnancy, the 1st and the 2nd trimester of pregnancy (P>0.05 for all). Serum resistin level was significantly elevated in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy as compared with non-pregnancy (P<0.01), the 1st (P<0.001) and the 2nd trimester of pregnancy (P<0.001). Serum resistin level was significantly lower in preeclampsia than in the 3rd trimester of normal pregnancy (P<0.001), but was comparable to that of non-pregnancy, the 1st and the 2nd trimester of pregnancy (P>0.05 for all). CONCLUSION:The decrease of serum resistin level in the preeclampsia may provide insight into the pathogenesis of the disease.
Plasma Resistin Associated With Myocardium Injury In Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome

Abstract:Background Resistin, a novel adipocytokine, has been suggested as representing a link between metabolic signals, inflammation and atherosclerosis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the alteration in level of plasma resistin in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) to uncover the role of resistin.Methods and Results The 39 patients with ACS and 26 age-matched healthy subjects in this cross-sectional Study were investigated. Plasma resistin levels were measured using radioimmunoassay. Plasma resistin levels were significantly increased in patients with ACS at 24h after symptoms onset and remained at a high level for week, and were significantly higher in patients with acute myocardial infarction than in those with unstable angina. In addition, plasma resistin level was correlated positively with peak plasma creatine kinase (CK), the MB isoform of CK and troponin 1, and was correlated negatively with left ventricular ejection fraction. No correlation was found beween plasma resistin level with level of metabolic parameters or inflammatory markers.Conclusions Plasma resistin levels in patients with ACS are elevated significantly within the first week after symptoms onset. Increased resistin levels may be a marker of myocardial ischemia and injury in ACS.
