Abstract:A series of Mg(Ca)Zr-doped acid-base bifunctional mesoporous silica were synthesized to study the impact of the one-step or two-step impregnation method on material structure. The two-step method seems to be a better way to synthesize metal-based functionalized catalyst and their catalytic performance is investigated using deacetalization-Knoevenagel reaction as the probe reaction. The coexisting dual active sites and suitable designing routes endowed highly efficient (Conv. >99.6%, Sel. >99.8%) and robust stability (10 consecutive cycles) of these materials. The present process succeeded in preparing catalysts decorated with acid-base sites by doping acidic and alkali metal species rather than grafting organic groups.

Abstract:Tungstovanadogermanic heteropoly acid (H5GeW11VO40) with Keggin structure was introduced onto mesoporous molecular sieve SBA-15 by incipient wetness method. The material was characterized by infrared (IR) and XRD to confirm the existence of mesopore and Keggin structure. The protonic conductivity of this composite was 3.09×10−3 S cm−1 with the 85% HPA at 23 °C.

Abstract:A macroporous silica-based 4,4',(5')-di(t-butylcyclohexano)-18-crown-6 (DtBuCH18C6)-imprepated polymeric composite, (DtBuCH18C6 + Oct)/SiO(2)-P, was synthesized by molecular modification of DtBuCH18C6 with I-octanol through hydrogen bonding. This was achieved by impregnating and immobilizing DtBuCH18C6 and 1-octanol molecules in the pores of macroporous SiO(2)-P particles possessing a mean pore diameter of 50 pill. The adsorption of some fission and non-fission products contained in highly active liquid waste (HLW) such as Ru(III), Mo(VI), Pd(II), Na(I), K(I), Cs(I), Sr(II), Ba(II), La(III) and Y(III) onto (DtBuCH18C6 + Oct)/SiO(2)-P was investigated at 298 K. The effects of contact time and HNO(3) concentration within the range 0.1-5.0 M were examined. Increasing the HNO(3) concentration from 0.1 M to 2.0 M led to a significant increase in the adsorption of Sr(II), followed by a decrease when the HNO(3) concentration yeas increased further to 5.0 M. The optimum concentration of HNO(3) in the adsorption of Sr(11) onto (DtBuCH18C6 + Oct)/SiO(2)-P was determined as 2.0 M. For the other ions examined with the exception of Ba(II), very weak or almost non-existent adsorption capacities were observed at all HNO(3) concentrations. The leaching of total organic carbon (TOC) from (DtBuCH18C6 + Oct)/SiO(2)-P into the aqueous phase was evaluated. Over the HNO3 concentration range 0.1-3.0 M, the quantity of TOC leached was ca. 40 ppm compared with 355.8-373.3 ppm at HNO(3) concentrations above 4.0 M. Significant reduction of TOC leaching from the macroporous silica-based DtBuCH18C6-impregnated polymeric composite was achieved in 2.0 M HNO3. Such behaviour could be of great benefit in using (DtBuCH18C6 + Oct)/SiO(2),-P for the partitioning of Sr(II) from HLW by extraction chromatography.

Abstract:The silica gels composited with decatungstomolybdovanadogermanic heteropoly acid were prepared. IR spectra revealed that the Keggin structure characteristic of the [GeW10MoVO40]5- anion was present in silica gels. At room temperature (18℃), the conductivity of the samples of different HPA content increased from 4. 68×10-4 to 1. 97×10-3 S·cm-1. The results indicated that they are excellent high-proton conductors.

Abstract:Silica gel containing 64 wt.% undecatungstocobaltoaluminic acid was prepared by means of sol–gel method. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and infrared (IR) spectrum revealed that the Keggin structure characteristic of [Al(H2O)CoW11O39]7− anion was present in the silica gel skeleton. The change of the characteristic peaks in the infrared spectrum was investigated. Thermogravimetry (TG) curve shows that there are three steps of weight loss. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) curve shows that the thermal stability of the gel is lower than that of pure undecatungstocobaltoaluminic acid. The silica gel exhibits considerably high proton conductivity of 1.30×10−3 S cm−1 at room temperature (14 °C).

Abstract:Heteropoly acid of Keggin structure tungstovanadogermanic (H5GeW11VO40) has been chemically anchored to the modified SBA-15 surface. The material was characterized by solid-state 29Si MAS NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy, XRD, TG-DTA and N2 adsorption experiments. The preservation of the structure of the HPA and dispersion of the cluster on the support were verified. On the bases of the spectroscopic evidences, HPA clusters were attached firmly to the surface.

Abstract:Silica gels composited with undecatungstochromoferrous acid have been prepared by the sol–gel method. FT-IR spectra and SEM declared that the Keggin structure characteristic of the Fe(H2O)CrW11O396− anion was found in the silica gel skeleton. The change of characteristic peaks in IR spectra was analyzed. XRD pattern showed that the gel was amorphous. The gel exhibited considerably high-proton conductivity, which increased from 1.88×10−3 to 1.11×10−2Scm−1 with the increase of the content of undecatungstochromoferrous acid at 20°C.

Abstract:Manganese oxides supported on SBA-15 (MnxOy/SBA-15) were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation of SBA-15 with furfuryl alcohol (FA) solution of manganese (II, III) acetylacetonate or manganese nitrate followed by removal of the carbon resulted from carbonized FA. All the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, N-2 adsorption, and transmission electron microscopy. The results show that the supported material MnxOy/SBA-15 maintained high surface area, large pore volume, and uniform pore size, and MnxOy was present as highly dispersed nanoclusters in the well-ordered mesoporous channels of SBA-15. The catalysts, especially those prepared from manganese acetylacetonate, exhibited high activity and selectivity in the liquid-phase oxidation of ethylbenzene using tert-butyl hydroperoxide as the oxidant.

Abstract:Highly proton-conducting hybrid materials (P2W17V/PEG and P2W17V/PEG/SiO2) were prepared by heptadecatungstovanadodiphosphoric heteropoly acid with Dawson structure (P2W17V, 90 wt.%), polyethylene glycol (PEG, 10 wt.% and 5 wt.%) and silica gel (SiO2, 0 wt.% and 5 wt.%). The products were characterized by the infrared (IR) spectrum, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis and electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS). The result reveals that their conductivity values are 1.02 x 10(-2) and 2.58 x 10(-2) S . cm(-1) at room temperature (26 degrees C) and 75% relative humidity (RH), respectively. Their conductivities increase with higher temperature and these activation energies of proton conduction are 9.51 and 14.95 kJ . mol(-1), which are lower than that of pure heteropoly acid (32.23 kJ . mol(-1)). These mechanisms of proton conduction for these two materials are Grotthuss mechanism.

Abstract:The decatungstomolybdoniobogermanic heteropoly acid H5[GeW10MoNbO40]·20H2O has been prepared for the first time. The optimal proportion of the solutions of the component and the pH of the synthesis reaction are given. The product was characterized by chemical analysis, conductometric and potentiometric titration, IR, UV, XRD, 183W NMR and TG-DTA. The IR, UV, XRD and 183W NMR indicate that H5[GeW10MoNbO40]·20H2O possesses the Keggin structure. The TG-DTA curve shows the sequence of water loss in the acid, the amount of the loss as well as the thermostability of the acid.

Abstract:A novel strategy for functionalized mesoporous silica used as chromatographic packing material is reported. Periodic mesoporous silica containing sulfonic acid bearing groups were synthesized using tetramethyloxysilicate (TMOS) and mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS) as framework precursors under acidic conditions in the presence of Pluronic P123 as surfactant and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as cosurfactant. Conversion of the mercaptopropyl groups into sulfonic acid moieties was achieved via oxidation using hydrogen peroxide. Wormhole mesostructure with high surface area (up to 718.6m2/g) and narrow pore size distribution (up to 4.0nm) were obtained. The effect of the synthesized mesoporous silica microspheres as a HPLC packing material was examined.
Preparation and Catalytic Performance of Solid Acid Catalyst HClO_4/SBA-15

Abstract:Introduction of HClO4 into mesoporous SBA-15 with large pore size and specific surface area,a solid acid catalyst HClO4/SBA-15 was prepared for heterogeneous catalysis and its structure was well characterized through the X-ray diffraction( XRD), porosity studies, and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) analysis.After HClO4 is a load,the specific surface area,pore size and pore volume of porous materials are reduced.However,it did not destroy the mesoporous SBA-15 pore structure.To demonstrate the catalytic properties of HClO4/SBA-15,we explored the HClO4/SBA-15-catalyzed one-pot selective de-isopropylidenylation and acetylation reaction.With a catalytic amount of the catalyst,the reaction can be completed within 30 minutes at room temperature in high yield.The chemical structures of products have been fully characterized by1 H NMR,13 C NMR and MS.This approach is simple,high yield,and does not require any solvents.

Abstract:Pure silicon SBA-15 mesoporous molecular sieve was prepared using TEOS as raw material and P123 as template, and the effects of processing factors including hydrochloric acid amount, silicon source (TEOS) amount and crystallization temperature have been investigated. Al-SBA-15 was prepared by using doping Al into the SBA-15 framework, using AlCl3 as raw materials and calcined at 550 for 5 h from a post-alumination-synthesis. XRD and N-2 adsorption-de sorption characterization techniques were used to investigate the microscopic structure of mesoporous samples. The hexagonal structure of SBA-15 has not been changed obviously after it was doped by aluminum.

Abstract:In order to prepare functionalized mesoporous materials with sulfonic acid groups used as solid acid catalysts or as separation materials, a simple secondary modification method has been developed. Based on our previous work, SBA-15 materials with a high surface silanol density were prepared by simultaneously removing templates and crystallizing under acidic and hydrothermal conditions. Then the functionalization of SBA-15 mesoporous silica with thiol groups and the oxidation of thiol to sulfonic acid groups were carried out under the same hydrothermal conditions with a dilute aqueous H2O2 solution as the oxidizing agent. Furthermore, the idea of coupling functionalization and oxidation into one step was tested, and the functionalized SBA-15 materials with sulfonic acid groups (SO3H-SBA-15) that were successfully prepared had an acid exchange capacity reaching 1mequiv of H+/g of SO3H-SBA-15 as determined by a corrective base titration. SO3H-SBA-15 characterized by FT-IR, NMR, XRD, nitrogen adsorption and desorption, TGA, and hydrothermal stability experiments, exhibited a good long-range order, high specific surface area (about 600m2/g), uniform pore sizes (about 6nm), and high thermal and hydrothermal stabilities. SO3Ag-SBA-15 via ion exchange of SO3H-SBA-15 with Ag+ was used to remove dibenzothiophene (DBT) from octane. The adsorption capacity reached as high as 17.0mgS/g of SO3Ag-SBA-15.

Abstract:Treatment of mesoporous silicate SBA-15 with Sm[N(SiMe3)(2)](3) led to the formation of a novel organolanthanide/inorganic hybrid material [SBA-15]Sm[N(SiMe3)(2)](x) via abstraction of N(SiMe3)(2) by terminal silanol groups and subsequent surface silylation. The hybrid material was characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and nitrogen sorption, indicating a successful tailoring inside the silicate SBA-15 and the maintenance of the well-ordered mesostructure. This hybrid material is a promising heterogeneous catalyst for the Tishchenko reaction, where it is superior to the homogeneous correspondent in deactivation behavior, reusability and relative tolerance to oxygen, particularly in the control of selectivity of mixed Tishchenko reaction due to the steric hindrance and the diffusion control derived from the surface confinement.
