Correlation Analysis of Kernel Traits and Oil Concentration in Maize

Abstract:The recombinant inbred lines(RIL)derived from a normal line B73 and a high-oil line By804 was used to investigate the phenotypic variation and correlation among several yield-related traits,including kernel weight,kernel length,kernel width,ratio of kernel length to kernel width,kernel thickness,kernel oil content,kernel volume,ratio of kernel weight to kernel volume.The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between kernel length,kernel width,kernel thickness,kernel volume and ratio of kernel weight to volume with kernel weight,while ratio of kernel length to width was negatively correlated with kernel weight and kernel oil content.And a significant positive correlation was detected between ratio of kernel weight to volume and kernel oil content.
