Abstract:The traditional C4.5 algorithm has weak points of too much calculating quantity and failing to creat better decision tree under the circumstance of definite priori knowledge and thereby the time and structure of decision tree’s build are influenced. Computational efficiency can be improved by reducing information gain ratio according to mathematical equivalent infinitesimal property and by making up for errors from simplification by overall optimization strategy. In the optimization, balance degree constant is introduced in consideration of priori knowledge’s special features and consequently optimal branch strategy of C4.5 algorithm can be realized and the decision tree that conforms better to facts can also be founded. It is proved by experiment that compared with traditional C4.5 algorithm, the optimized project is provided with roughly the same classification accuracy and faster build speed.

Abstract:Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the common complications among diabetes patients, characterized by a high incidence rate and difficult treatment, significantly affecting the quality of patients' lives and productivity. This condition significantly undermines the quality of life and productivity of the individuals it afflicts. Therefore, the capability to accurately predict the emergence and development of diabetic retinopathy (DR) can equip healthcare providers with the means to intervene and provide timely treatments, thereby substantially reducing the likelihood of additional complications. This paper employs the classic C4.5 algorithm from decision tree algorithms to construct a model for predicting diabetic retinopathy (DR). First, we introduce the foundational concepts of decision tree algorithms along with common methods for assessing importance. Following this, the C4.5 algorithm is utilized to develop and assess a decision tree model. This process involves refining the model through careful parameter tuning and the elimination of irrelevant variables. A comparative analysis of model accuracies is conducted, revealing that this approach significantly enhances the model's predictive accuracy and overall performance, as evidenced by the analysis of experimental data.

Abstract:This paper improves C4.5 decision tree algorithm based on mean value and information gain,builds the match decision tree model of foreign home and abroad men,and applies it to diagnosis,evaluation and decision support in table tennis match.Experimental results show that the accuracy of building tree algorithm is high,the diagnosis results conform to reality fairly,the algorithm can make a distinction between two players technique and tactic assessment reasonably.Compared with the expert experiences,the rules that the decision tree produced is simple and concise,and it can support more accuracy match decision support.

Abstract:To predict protein tertiary structure accurately is helpful for understanding the functions of proteins. In this study, a hierarchical classification method based on flexible neural tree was proposed to predict the structures, in which the tier classifiers were flexible neural trees due to their excellent performances. In order to classify the structures, three types of feature are used, i.e. the tripeptide composed of dimension reduction, the pseudo amino acid composition and the position information of amino acid residues. To evaluate our method, the 640 data set was used in this investigation. The experimental results suggest that our method overwhelms several representative approaches to predicting protein tertiary structure.

Abstract:In the information age, people get more and more data from various channels, especially medical data and business. Data, education data and environmental data. In the field of data mining and machine learning research, decision tree has great advantages in knowledge induction. Decision tree constructs tree structure to obtain classification rules. It has become an important method of data mining, and its effective mining rules have theoretical and practical significance. Based on the above reasons, aiming at the problem that in the process of data classification prediction, the data dimension collected in reality is high, and there are redundant attributes that lead to the deviation of decision tree classification results, a classification prediction method based on classical decision tree C4.5 algorithm and CART algorithm is proposed. The main research work is as follows:(1)In this paper, the data set is pre-cleaned to screen out the variables that are meaningful for the classification prediction experiment and improve the evaluation efficiency. Then analyze the data distribution characteristics of the variables with missing values, and use appropriate filling methods to fill the missing data.(2)The XGBoost algorithm is used to evaluate the importance of features, and 15 significant features related to classification prediction are selected to improve the generalization performance and training efficiency of the model.(3)Modeling and training based on classical decision tree C4.5 algorithm and CART algorithm to obtain the classification performance of the model.

Abstract:with the rapid development of database technique, categorizing datasets becomes very important for discovering information. Decision tree classification provides a rapid and effective method of categorizing datasets. Although many algorithmic methods exist for optimizing decision tree structure, these can be vulnerable to changes in the training dataset. In this paper, an evolutionary method is presented, which allows decision tree flexibility through the use of co-evolving competition between the decision tree and the training data set. This method is validated via using one datasets. And the results indicate the utility of the proposed method in this paper is proved to be efficient in classifying Data.

Abstract:By use of information clustering of amino acid compositions we obtained the tree-like clustering of 645 proteins and studied the relation between structural classes of proteins and their amino acid composition. The problems inherent in the traditional prediction method were discussed. Then a new method for predicting the structural classes of a protein basedon its secondary structure sequence was suggested. Some simple prediction rules were given.

Abstract:Background: A new method for the prediction of protein structural classes is constructed based on Rough Sets algorithm, which is a rule-based data mining method. Amino acid compositions and 8 physicochemical properties data are used as conditional attributes for the construction of decision system. After reducing the decision system, decision rules are generated, which can be used to classify new objects.Results: In this study, self-consistency and jackknife tests on the datasets constructed by G. P. Zhou (Journal of Protein Chemistry, 1998, 17: 729-738) are used to verify the performance of this method, and are compared with some of prior works. The results showed that the rough sets approach is very promising and may play a complementary role to the existing powerful approaches, such as the component-coupled, neural network, SVM, and LogitBoost approaches.Conclusion: The results with high success rates indicate that the rough sets approach as proposed in this paper might hold a high potential to become a useful tool in bioinformatics.

Abstract:The prediction of protein structural classes is beneficial to understanding folding patterns, functions and interactions of proteins. In this study, we proposed a feature selection-based method to accurately predict protein structural classes. Three datasets with sequence identity lower than 25% were used to test the prediction performance of the method. Through jackknife cross-validation, we have verified that the overall accuracies of these three datasets are 92.1%, 89.7% and 84.0%, respectively. The proposed method is more efficient and accurate than other existing methods. The present study will offer an excellent alternative to other methods for predicting protein structural classes.

Abstract:Decision tree, as an important classification algorithm in data mining, has been successfully applied in many fields. In this paper, based on the analysis of the essential characteristics of decision tree algorithm, we give a leaf criterion for multi-decision values of decision attribute, and establish a mathematical model for the selection for expanded attributes; also we give a concrete model based on quasi-linear function (denoted by QASM). Finally, we compare and analyze the performance of QASM combining with ID3 algorithm through an example. The results show that QASM can not only effectively merge the decision consciousness into decision-making process in a quantitative way, but also the computational complexity is lower than that of ID3 algorithm.

Abstract:Decision tree is one of the complex algorithms in the fields of pattern recognition and data mining, which is not only related to database, artificial intelligence and other disciplines, but has great theoretical research value. This paper used standard data set as original discrete experimental data, and the entropy and information gain of each attribute of the data was calculated to implement the classification of data. After traversing the structure of tree, the attributes corresponding to the information gain that reduces the maximum entropy were selected as optimal classification attribute for the generation of the decision tree. The simulation results show that the classification accuracy of ID3 decision tree was 6-7 percentage points higher than the other classification algorithms in this paper, meanwhile, the generation of the tree structure was apparently complex. In addition, this paper achieved an optimized structure of the decision tree, which is simplified to 5 node structure from the initial 19 nodes for improving the efficiency of the algorithm on the premise of ensuring low error rate which was at the same level as other classification algorithms.

Abstract:The decision tree is one of the most important and representative classification algorithms in the field of machine learning, and it is an important technique for solving data mining classification tasks. In this paper, a decision tree classification algorithm based on granular matrices is proposed on the basis of granular computing theory. Firstly, the bit-multiplication and bit-sum operations of granular matrices are defined. The logical operations between granules are replaced by simple multiplication and addition operations, which reduces the operation time. Secondly, the similarity between granules is defined, the similarity metric matrix of the granular space is constructed, the classification actions are extracted from the similarity metric matrix, and the classification accuracy is defined by weighting the classification actions with the probability distribution of the granular space. Finally, the classification accuracy of the conditional attribute is used to select the splitting attributes of the decision tree as the nodes to form forks in the tree, and the similarity between granules is used to judge whether the data types in the sub-datasets are consistent to form the leaf nodes. The feasibility of the algorithm is demonstrated by means of case studies. The results of tests conducted on six UCI public datasets show that the algorithm has higher classification accuracy and better classification performance than the ID3 and C4.5.

Abstract:Recent developments in bioinformatics have highlighted the importance of protein structure prediction for which information about structure classes forms the foundation and plays an important role in the prediction of protein folds and tertiary structure. The majority of previous researches have focused on only four protein classes in the Structure Classification of Proteins (SCOP) database. In this paper, we focused mainly on finding the best performing prediction method using SCOP-extended (SCOPe, Release 2.03; previously known as version 1.75C in SCOP), which contains seven major protein classes, including all-alpha proteins, all-beta proteins, alpha/beta proteins, alpha+beta proteins, multi-domain proteins, membrane and cell surface proteins and peptides, and small proteins. The framework that we developed consists of two stages: in the first stage we used a hybrid frequency method for feature extraction from a SCOPe dataset, and in the second stage, we calculated an effective parameter (number of trees) for the Random Forest Classifier. Our computational results on the SCOPe dataset demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of our model that generated predictions with an accuracy of 88%, which is much higher than the accuracies reported in previous studies. These encouraging results may be helpful for future research on protein structure and protein fold prediction. Our codes are available in http://datamining.xmu.edu.cn/similar to zhaoxuewei/PSP.

Abstract:An optimized decision tree algorithm based on rough sets model is proposed. Firstly the most popular decision tree algorithms, which are based rough sets model, usually partition examples too detailed to avoid the negative impact caused by a few special examples on decision tree because of the classification accuracy. The inhibitory factors are put forward in the forming process of the algorithm to cut branches for decision tree, avoiding redundant steps of cutting branches later. Secondly the condition attribute and decision attribute are matched in every division to avoid unnecessary calculation and improve the efficiency of the algorithm.

Abstract:According to physicochemical properties of amino acid,the approach of feature extraction of incorporating amino acid composition with different auto-correlation functions has been introduced to predict non-homologous protein structural classes and seven feature sets could be gained.We have combined multiple features using Dynamic Feature Selection with Local Accuracy(DFS-LA) algorithm.The comparisons of the predictive results from combination of multiple features and each parameter data set show that the total predictive accuracy are remarkably improved by using DFS-LA algorithm.In jackknife test,the total predictive accuracy using DFS-LA algorithm is 82.80%, which is 8.91 percentile higher than that of COMP parameter data set.In independent test,the total predictive accuracy using DFS-LA algorithm is 86.67%,which is 11.67 percentile higher than that of COMP parameter data set.These results show that the predictive accuracies of protein structural classes can be effectively improved by using DFS-LA algorithm.To some extent,combination of multiple features can reflect more protein spatial information.

Abstract:Decision tree is an important method for both induction research and data mining, which is mainly used for model classification and prediction. ID3 algorithm is the most widely used algorithm in the decision tree so far. Through illustrating on the basic ideas of decision tree in data mining, in this paper, the shortcoming of ID3's inclining to choose attributes with many values is discussed, and then a new decision tree algorithm combining ID3 and association function(AF) is presented. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can overcome ID3's shortcoming effectively and get more reasonable and effective rules.
