Abstract:mAb treated mice, and 1.8::'::0.6for controls.Colonic expression of ICAM-I and VCAM-I, especially VCAM-I in the vascular endothelium, was markedly suppressed by mAb.IFN--y, TNF-O', IL-II3, and iNOS mRNA was also reduced by the treatment.Colonic CD4+ T cells were significantly decreased in mAb-treated mice, that might be attributable to increased TUNEL + apoptotic cells seen in those mice.Summary/Conclusion: The results presented here show that IL-6 actively participates in the pathogenesis of murine colitis by promoting leukocyte migration and inhibiting apoptosis of activated T cells, and suggest a therapeutic potential of anti-IL-6R mAb for human CD.
