Abstract:Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power complex,which had an accident began operating in the 1970s,was made up of boiling-water reactors.The heat produced by spent nuclear fuel was one of the major causes of the accident.When the fission reaction stops,the fuel still has large quantities of products of radioactive decay which give out heat.The impact of the radiation release by the nuclear accident on China,with even the scenarios detected on 2011 March 15th considered is estimated for the worst to be around 1/50 000 mSv/h,which is about 5% of the background radiation.If the wind direction and delay of the nuclear materials are considered,the final result will be even lower than that value.
