Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the positive solution of nonlinear nonlocal porous medium equation ut−Δum = aup ∝Ω uqdx with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition and positive initial value u0(x), where m > 1, p, q ≥ 0. Under appropriate hypotheses, we establish the local existence and uniqueness of a positive classical solution, and obtain that the solution either exists globally or blows up in finite time by utilizing sub and super solution techniques. Furthermore, we yield the blow-up rate, i.e., there exist two positive constants C1, C2 such that where p+q > m > 1, T∗ is the blow-up time of u(x,t).

Abstract:In this paper, we study the initial boundary value problem for a class of higher-order nonlinear pseudo-parabolic equations with a memory term. First, the blow-up results of the solution when the initial energy is negative or positive are obtained by using concavity analysis, and an upper bound on the blow-up time $ T^* $ is given. Second, a lower bound on the blow-up time $ T^* $ is obtained by applying differential inequalities when the solutions blow up.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the blow-up and/or global existence of the following porous medium equation with variable source power, u t =Δ u m + u p ( x ) , in Ω×(0, T ), where Ω is either a bounded domain or the whole space R N , and p ( x ) is a positive and continuous bounded function defined in Ω satisfying 0 p - =inf p ( x )≤ p ( x )≤ p + =sup p ( x ) p ( x ) and the structure of spatial domain Ω. Roughly speaking, for the Cauchy problem, if p ( x )≤1, uniqueness of the solutions might not hold, and all nontrivial solutions exist globally. If p + > m , there are blow-up solutions. If 1 p ( x )≤ m +2/ N , every nontrivial solution blows up. If p ( x )> m +2/ N , there exist nontrivial global solutions. When p - m +2/ N , the examples we constructed suggest that for some p ( x ) all nontrivial solutions blow up and for others there exist global solutions. The situation is totally different in bounded domains. There is only one critical exponent p = m , while there are three factors, p ( x ); m and properties of the domain, interacting with each other. If p + > m , there are blow-up solutions as in R N . If p + m , all solutions exist globally in time. If p ( x )> m or the domain is small enough, there are global solutions. The most interesting part is that for some p ( x ) satisfying p - m p + , we find the Fujita phenomenon in the bounded domain.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the nonlinear Sobolev equation ut−Δut−(Δqu)t−Δqu−Δu−upux1=|u|2mu, with an initial condition and Dirichlet boundary condition. In different regions divided by p, q, and m, we obtain the sufficient conditions for finite-time blow-up of the solutions, and get the upper and lower bounds of the blow-up time.

By establishing the criterions for blow-up, we determine the upper bounds for blow-up time under not only q<p and non-positive initial energy but also q=p and negative initial energy. The results show that the upper bound for blow-up time under q<p is different from it under q=p. Moreover, we also determine the lower bound for blow-up time.

Abstract:This paper studies the heat equation u t = Δ u in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ R n ( n ≥ 2 ) with positive initial data and a local nonlinear Neumann boundary condition: the normal derivative ∂ u / ∂ n = u q on partial boundary Γ 1 ⊆ ∂ Ω for some q > 1 , while ∂ u / ∂ n = 0 on the other part. We investigate the lower bound of the blow-up time T ⁎ of u in several aspects. First, T ⁎ is proved to be at least of order ( q − 1 ) − 1 as q → 1 + . Since the existing upper bound is of order ( q − 1 ) − 1 , this result is sharp. Secondly, if Ω is convex and | Γ 1 | denotes the surface area of Γ 1 , then T ⁎ is shown to be at least of order | Γ 1 | − 1 n − 1 for n ≥ 3 and | Γ 1 | − 1 / ln ⁡ ( | Γ 1 | − 1 ) for n = 2 as | Γ 1 | → 0 , while the previous result is | Γ 1 | − α for any α < 1 n − 1 . Finally, we generalize the results for convex domains to the domains with only local convexity near Γ 1 .

Abstract:This note addresses the initial-boundary value problem for a class of semi-linear pseudo-parabolic equations defined on a smooth bounded domain, with an emphasis on determining the asymptotic behavior and blow-up rate of the solution. Our analysis considers both low-initial energy and critical-initial energy cases, with a specific focus on establishing a lower bound on the maximal existence time of the solutions to this problem.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of blow-up phenomenon for a fouth-order nonlocal parabolic equation with Neumann boundary condition, \begin{equation*} \left\{\begin{array}{ll}\ds u_{t}+u_{xxxx}=|u|^{p-1}u-\frac{1}{a}\int_{0}^a|u|^{p-1}u\ dx, & u_x(0)=u_x(a)=u_{xxx}(0)=u_{xxx}(a)=0, & u(x,0)=u_0(x)\in H^2(0, a),\ \ \int_0^au_0(x)\ dx=0, &\end{array}\right. \end{equation*} where $a$ is a positive constant and $p>1$. The existing results on the problem suggest that the weak solution will blow up in finite time if $I(u_0)<0$ and the initial energy satisfies some appropriate assumptions, here $I(u_0)$ is the initial Nehari functional. In this paper, we extend the previous blow-up conditions with proving that those assumptions on the energy functional are superfluous and only $I(u_0)<0$ is sufficient to ensure the weak solution blowing up in finite time. Our conclusion depicts the significant influence of mass conservation on the dynamic behavior of solution.

Abstract:This paper estimates the blow-up time for the heat equation ut=Δu with a local nonlinear Neumann boundary condition: The normal derivative ∂u/∂n=uq on Γ1, one piece of the boundary, while on the rest part of the boundary, ∂u/∂n=0. The motivation of the study is the partial damage to the insulation on the surface of space shuttles caused by high speed flying subjects. We show the finite time blow-up of the solution and estimate both upper and lower bounds of the blow-up time in terms of the area of Γ1. In many other work, they need the convexity of the domain Ω and only consider the problem with Γ1=∂Ω. In this paper, we remove the convexity condition and only require ∂Ω to be C2. In addition, we deal with the local nonlinearity, namely Γ1 can be just part of ∂Ω.

Abstract:In this paper we study the initial boundary value problem of critical semilinear wave equation with small initial data in 3-D. Blow up result will be established no matter how small the data are. We find a radial and positive solution of the corresponding linear problem, then our blow up result follows from the idea of Zhou and Han (2014). What is more, we get the upper bound of the lifespan estimate.

Abstract:In this study, we examine the wave equation with a nontrivial boundary condition. The main target of this study is to prove the local-in-time existence and the blow-up in finite time of the energy solution. Through the construction of an auxiliary function and the imposition of appropriate conditions on the initial data, we establish the both lower and upper bounds for the blow-up time of the solution. Meanwhile, based on these estimates, we obtain the result of the local-in-time existence and the blow-up of the energy solution. This approach enhances our understanding of the dynamics leading to blow-up in the considered condition.

Abstract:In this study, we examine a double nonlinear porous medium equation subject to a novel nonlinearity condition within a bounded domain. First, we introduce the blow-up solution for the problem under consideration for the negative initial energy. By introducing a set of potential wells, we construct invariant sets of solutions for the double nonlinear porous medium equation. For subcritical and critical initial energy scenarios, we derive the global existence and asymptotic behavior of weak solutions, as well as blow-up phenomena occurring within a finite time for the positive solution to the double nonlinear porous medium equation.
