Abstract:The optimization of energy-intensive process systems usually depends upon both economics and environment, which often give the proofs for the decision-making for process improvement. Based on the evolutions of exergy flows and the waste flows within an energy-conversion system, a waste treatment subsystem is proposed in this paper, which could be added to treat the wastes rejected from the system. Accordingly, the total system is divided into the main energy-conversion subsystem and the affiliated waste treatment subsystem. Moreover, the environmental-exergoeconomic objectives for optimizing two subsystems and the corresponding constraints were presented by taking account of the thermodynamics, economics and environment simultaneously. A decomposing-coordinating strategy for environmental-exergoeconomic optimization of energy-conversion systems is developed. Coordination between the optimal results from two subsystems makes the total system optimized.
