Clinical significance of PRDM1 gene expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To investigate the role and clinical significance of the expression of PRDM1 gene in the carcinogenesis and progression of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(LSCC).Methods The expression of PRDM1 was detected by immunohistochemistry method in 38 cases of LSCC and 12 cases of vocal cord polyp,and the expression of PRDM1 was analyzed in LSCC with different primary sites,pathological grades,TNM staging and lymph node metastasis.Results The positive expression rate of PRDM1 in vocal cord polyp(83.3%) was obviously higher than that in LSCC(44.7%),which had significant statistical difference(P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between PRDM1 expression and TNM staging and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05),while there was no correlation with primary sites and pathological grade(P>0.05).Conclusion The inactivation of PRDM1 is correlated with the carcinogenesis and progression of laryngeal carcinoma.PRDM1 may be a vital target gene for early diagnosis,gene therapy and prognosis of LSCC.
