Abstract:Objective To clarify the role of CRP in the pathogenesis of vascular dementia.Methods The plasma concentrations of CRP were measured in 28 patients with vascular dementia(VD) and 23 normal controls(NC).The plasma levels of CRP were measured in all the objects by immunoturbidimetry.Results The plasma level of CRP in VD(4.38±3.46 mg/l) was higher than that in the normal controls(1.11±1.30mg/l).The severity of VD was positive correlation with CRP.In other words there was a tendency that plasma CRP level increased gradually following the aggravation of VD.There was a positive correlation between plasma concentrations of CRP in patients with VD.Conclusions The alteration in plasma level of CRP,a blood inflammatory marker,was related to the severity of VD.
