Moderator Effects and Mediator Role of Subjective Well-being between Social Support and Suicide Risk.

Abstract:Objective To explore the relationships between college students' social support,subject well-being and suicide risks.Methods A total of 1310 college students were investigated by questionnaires of Suicidal Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised(SBQ-R),Social Support Scale and Index of Well-being,Index of General Affect.Results ①Correlation analysis showed that social support(r=-0.22,P<0.01)and well-being(r=-0.38,P<0.01)were negatively related to suicide risks;Social support was positively related to well-being(r=0.41,P<0.01).② Main effects of social support and well-being to suicide were significant(β=-0.22,-0.34;P<0.01),also the interaction between them was significant(β=-0.09,P<0.01);③Once well-being entered in the regression equations as a predictor,the effect on suicide risks was negatively significant(β=-0.36,P<0.01).Conclusion There are close relationship among suicide risks,social support and well-being;Well-being plays as a moderator and partial mediator between social support and suicide risks.
