Abstract:Since its reform and opening-up,China's economy has largely depended on FDI and made great achievements.Obviously,FDI has effected on the whole process of China's economic development.Researches have often been done on the factors that affect the increase of export,one of the important researches being on the relationship between foreign direct investment and trade export of the host country.This article offers a study of several important factors that influence China's export through an analysis of the FDI effect on export.Using statistics of the last 20 years,it constructs an analytical model of FDI and export,investigating into the FDI effects on China's export and the consequences.Moreover,some policy suggestions are raised.With the rapid development of FDI in China,foreign investment corporation's effect on the Chinese export is being strengthened.It can be studied in the following two ways:1.Direct Effect: Foreign corporations have grown to be a major force in China's export.Foreign investment corporations,especially export processing firms,have achieved a rapid increase in export volumes and a steady increase in proportion to the total national export.2.Indirect Effect:First,foreign investment corporations can develop oversees markets through adding new distribution channels.Secondly,China's trade relationship with other countries is becoming more intimate,which will improve the international trade environment.Thirdly,through FDI and competing with foreign investment corporations,domestic trade companies can accelerate their own reform and acquire more sense of crisis.To study the connection between FDI and export,this article sets up a regression model.We divide the article into two parts,one on the impact of FDI on export and the other on the mutual impact between FDI and export through the Granger test of causality.The result shows that the effect of FDI in China is a complementary effect rather than a substitution effect.At the mean time,FDI and the amount of export have a Granger cause and effect relationship,i.e.two factors affecting each other.The paper also raises some policy suggestions.1).The government should pay attention to international economy and trade disputations.2).Enterprises should improve their capability of innovation.(3).There should be an efficient adjustment of the preferential policy and abstract foreign investment.
