Effect of Planting Date and Topping Numbers on Flowering of Potted Chrysanthemum with Small Inflorescences Blooming in Summer

Abstract:Effects of planting date and topping numbers on flowering and ornamental characteristic with the material potted chrysanthemum with small inflorescences blooming in summer'Aoyunhuoju'were studied in a two factor randomized block design.The results showed that the flowering date showed a close relationship with planting date.With the planting date earlier,the flowering time was earlier between groups.When the planting date was between end-March and early-May,the days from planting to first flowering was 90 days at least;and the earlier the planting date,the more days it required.The ornamental characteristic of chrysanthemum planted in middle-April was the best.When the numbers of topping increased,the first flowering was delayed,the plant height was decreased,and the plant type was compacter.But when the number of topping was excessive,the flower number of single plant reduced,and the ornamental characteristic debased.The ornamental characteristic of chrysanthemum planted in middle-April and after 3 times topping was the best.
