Abstract:We employ a Dyson-Schwinger equation model to effect a unified and uniformly accurate description of light- and heavy-meson observables, which we characterize by heavy-meson leptonic decays, semileptonic heavy-to-heavy and heavy-to-light transitions, B --> D*, D, rho, pi; D --> K*, K, pi, radiative and strong decays, B-(s)* --> B((s))gamma; D-(s)* --> D((s))gamma, D pi, and the rare B --> K*gamma flavor-changing neutral-current process. We elucidate the heavy-quark limit of these processes and, using a model-independent mass formula valid for all nonsinglet pseudoscalar mesons, demonstrate that their mass rises linearly with the mass of their heaviest constituent. In our numerical calculations we eschew a heavy-quark expansion and rely instead on the observation that the dressed c,b-quark mass functions are well approximated by a constant, interpreted as their constituent mass: we find (M) over cap(c) = 1.32 GeV and (M) over cap(b) = 4.65 GeV. The calculated heavy-meson leptonic decay constants and transition form factors are a necessary element in the experimental determination of CKM matrix elements. The results also show that this framework, as employed hitherto, is able to describe vector meson polarization observables well. [S0556-2821(99)08013-3].

Abstract: Dyson-Schwinger equation (DSE) studies show that the b-quark mass-function is approximately constant, and that this is true to a lesser extent for the c-quark. These observations provide the basis for a study of the leptonic and semileptonic decays of heavy pseudoscalar mesons using a ``heavy-quark'' limit of the DSEs. When exact, this limit reduces the number of independent form factors. Semileptonic decays with light mesons in the final state are also accessible because the DSEs provide a description of light-quark propagation characteristics and light-meson structure. A description of B-meson decays is straightforward, however, the study of decays involving the D-meson indicates that c-quark mass-corrections are quantitatively important.

Abstract: We summarise a Dyson-Schwinger-equation-based calculation of an extensive range of light- and heavy-meson observables, characterised by heavy-meson leptonic decays, semileptonic heavy-to-heavy and heavy-to-light transitions, radiative and strong decays, and the rare flavour-changing neutral-current process. In the calculation the heavy-quark mass functions are approximated by constants, interpreted as their constituent mass.

Abstract:Using the relativistic BS equation with the kernel containing a confinement term and a gluon exchange term in a covariant generalization of the Coulomb gauge the formula for masses of heavy mesons with arbitrary spin and parity are obtained to the order 1/M. The retardation effect is taken into account. Numerical values for low-lying states of D and B systems are obtained.

Abstract:We introduce a new symmetry-preserving framework for the physics of heavy-light mesons, whose key element is the effective incorporation of flavour-dependent contributions into the corresponding bound-state and quark gap equations. These terms originate from the fully-dressed quark-gluon vertices appearing in the kernels of these equations, and provide a natural distinction between ``light" and ``heavy" quarks. In this approach, only the classical form factor of the quark-gluon vertex is retained, and is evaluated in the so-called ``symmetric" configuration. The standard Slavnov-Taylor identity links this form factor to the quark wave-function, allowing for the continuous transition from light to heavy quarks through the mere variation of the current quark mass in the gap equation. The method is used to compute the masses and decay constants of specific pseudoscalars and vector heavy-light systems, showing good overall agreement with both experimental data and lattice simulations.

Abstract:The heavy-light mesons are studied within the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equations of QCD. Inspired by the axial-vector Ward-Takahashi identity resulting from the chiral symmetry, we propose a truncation scheme beyond the ladder approximation without introducing any additional parameters. For the pseudoscalar and vector heavy-light mesons, the obtained mass spectrum has the level of relative errors at 5% compared with experimental data and lattice-QCD results. For the leptonic decay constants, our results are comparable with those from experiments and/or lattice QCD. For some channels, the discrepancies are sizable but significantly smaller than those using the equal spacing rule. The truncation scheme proposed in this work is simple and could be improved and applied to study other open flavor hadrons including both mesons and baryons.

Abstract:Semileptonic heavy-->heavy and heavy-->light meson transitions are studied as a phenomenological application of a heavy-quark limit of Dyson-Schwinger equations. Employing two parameters, E, the difference between the mass of the heavy meson and the effective mass of the heavy quark, and Lambda, the width of the heavy-meson Bethe-Salpeter amplitude, we calculate f(+)(t) for all decays on their entire kinematically accessible t domain. Our study favors f(B), in the range 0.135-0.17 GeV and with E = 0.44 GeV and 1/Lambda = 0.14 fm we obtain f(+)(B pi)(0)=0.46. As a result of neglecting 1/m(c) corrections, we estimate that our calculated values of rho(2)=0.87 and f(+)(DK)(0)=0.62 are too low by approximately 15%. However, the bulk of these corrections should cancel in our calculated values of Br(D-->pi l nu)/Br(D-->Kl nu)=0.13 and f(+)(D pi)(0)/f(+)(DK)(0)=1.16.

Abstract:We report on exploratory studies of heavy-light meson semileptonic decays using Asqtad light quarks, NRQCD heavy quarks and Symanzik improved glue on coarse quenched lattices. Oscillatory contributions to three-point correlators coming from the staggered light quarks are found to be handled well by Bayesian fitting methods. B meson decays to both the Goldstone pion and to one of the point-split non-Goldstone pions are investigated. One-loop perturbative matching of NRQCD/Asqtad heavy-light currents is incorporated.

Abstract:The light scalar meson nonet above 1 GeV ({\it i.e.\}the $a_{0}$, $K^{\ast}_{0}$ and $f_{0}$) are studied within the framework of QCD sum rules. In conventional QCD sum rules, the calculated masses of this nonet are degenerate, and the mass of $K^{\ast}_{0}$ is always larger than the $a_{0}$ in contradiction with the observed spectrum. After improving the correlation function by including instanton effects, the masses are well separated from each other. In particular, our results shows glueball content plays an important role in the underlying structure of $f_{0}(1500)$. The decay constants are also discussed.

Abstract:Bound states of heavy quarks are considered. Using the path integral formalism we are able to rederive, in a gauge invariant way, the Leutwyler-Voloshin short distance analysis as well as a long distance linear potential. At all distances we describe the states in terms of nonperturbative field correlators, and we include radiative corrections at short and intermediate distances. For intermediate distance states (particularly $b\bar {b}$ with $n=2$) our results improve, qualitatively and quantitatively, standard analyses, thanks mostly to being able to take into account the finiteness of the correlation time.

Abstract:In this work, an unquenched quark model is proposed for describing the heavy-light mesons by taking into account the coupled-channel effects induced by chiral dynamics. After including a relativistic correction term for the strong transition amplitudes, both the mass spectra and decay widths of the observed heavy-light mesons can be successfully described simultaneously in a unified framework, several long-standing puzzles related to the small masses and broad widths are overcome naturally. We also provide valuable guidance in searching new heavy-light mesons by the detailed predictions of their masses, widths, and branching ratios. Fully-heavy hadronic molecules $B_c^{(*)+} B_c^{(*)-}$ bound by fully-heavy mesons

Abstract:A lot of exotic hadrons were reported in the past twenty years, which bring us the renaissance of the hadron spectroscopy. Most of them can be understood as hadronic molecules, whose interactions are mainly due to the exchange of light mesons, and specifically, light vector mesons through the coupled-channel unitary approach within the local hidden-gauge formalism. It is still controversial whether the interaction arising from the exchange of heavy mesons is capable of forming hadronic molecules. We apply the coupled-channel unitary approach to study the fully-heavy $b \bar b c \bar c$ system, where the exchanged mesons can only be the fully-heavy vector mesons $J/\psi$, $B_c^*$, and $\Upsilon$. Especially, the $J/\psi$ meson is much lighter than the $B_c^{(*)}$ mesons, so the present study can be taken as a general investigation on the question whether a lower-mass fully-heavy meson is able to bind two higher-mass fully-heavy hadrons. Our results suggest the existence of the fully-heavy hadronic molecules $|B_c^{+} B_c^{-}; J^{PC}=0^{++} \rangle$, $|B_c^{*+} B_c^{-} - c.c.; J^{PC}=1^{+-} \rangle$, and $|B_c^{*+} B_c^{*-}; J^{PC}=2^{++} \rangle$ as well as the possible existence of $|B_c^{*+} B_c^{-} + c.c.; J^{PC}=1^{++} \rangle$. These states are potentially to be observed in the $\mu^+ \mu^- J/\psi$ and $\mu^+ \mu^- \Upsilon$ channels in future ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb experiments.

Abstract:We propose an extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model to include heavy mesons with heavy quark symmetry. The quark current-current interaction is generalized to include the heavy quark currents. In order to comply with the heavy quark spin symmetry at the heavy quark limit, the dependence of the quark mass on the interaction strength is introduced. The light and heavy pseudo-scalar and vector mesons, their masses and the weak decay constants are calculated in the unified frame.

Abstract:The origin and main properties of new heavy hadrons as dark matter candidates, are represented. Low-energy interactions of new hadrons with leptons and nucleons are described in the terms of effective vertexes. We consider the lowest excited levels of new mesons in the frame-work of the Heavy Quark Effective Theory. The effect of fine and hyper-fine splitting of excited states follows directly from this theory. We analyze phenomenological consequences of this effect as manifestation of dark matter particles.

Abstract: We critically review the validity of heavy-quark spin and flavor symmetries in heavy-light decay constants, form factors and effective couplings obtained within a nonperturbative framework, the ingredients of which are all motivated by Dyson-Schwinger equations studies of QCD. Along the way, we make new predictions for two effective nonphysical couplings: g_{DsDK} = 24.1+2.5/-1.6 and g_{BsBK} = 33.3+4.0/-3.7.
