Abstract:The article tries to prove that a cultural concept can lead to an understanding of culture in the sense of essentialism, therefore it is important to reunderstand cultural relativism created by the U.S. anthropology in today's increasingly globalized world . Identity based on the same culture is not innate, but the product of interaction between various forces in the modern context. Since identity must be reflected through the exclusion of "others" , the construction of identity is inevitably accompanied by the construction of "others" . The author agrees with the opinion of "cultural self-consciousness" by Fei Xiaotong because of the possible ambiguity in the understanding of culture and the "exclusive character" of identity. Mutual appreciated attitude among different cultures in the concept of "cultural self-consciousness" is necessary in the increasingly multiculturalized world.
