Abstract:The decorative styles and techniques for doors and windows are varied in different regions, so are their cultural characteristics. In central China, typically in Shaanxi and Shanxi, with a deep cultural tradition, door and window decorations are profound, reserved and plain. In rich places such as Guangdong and Fujian, doors and windows are decorated gallantly and warmly, representing a commercialized tendency. While in the areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, represented by Dongyang and Shaoxing, architectural culture is poetic, with an evident style of the graceful and restrained in south Changjiang. In short, utility and cultivation are among the main decorative characteristics for doors and windows of traditional residential buildings in Zhejiang.
