Abstract:In the present paper, we generalize the ideas of code constructions from our previous papers . It turns out that the codes in the previous papers can be viewed as special cases of those in this paper. Moreover, our constructions produce some good codes in terms of their parameters. In particular, some best-known codes can be obtained through our methods. Furthermore, our constructions are explicit and the codes can be easily implemented as shown in the tables of Appendix. Besides, one new code, i.e., a 4-ary [64,15,31]-linear code, is found through our constructions.

Abstract:A class of linear codes with good parameters is constructed in this correspondence. It turns out that linear codes of this class are subcodes of the subfield subcodes of Goppa's geometry codes. In particular, we find 61 improvements on Brouwer's table based on our codes.

Abstract:There have been various constructions of classical codes from polynomial valuations in literature [2], [7], [8], [10], [11]. In this paper, we present a construction of classical codes based on polynomial construction again. One of the features of this construction is that not only the classical codes arisen from the construction have good parameters, but also quantum codes with reasonably good parameters can be produced from these classical codes. In particular, some new quantum codes are constructed (see Examples V.5 and V.6).

Abstract:In the present paper, we construct a class of nonlinear codes by making use of higher order derivatives of certain functions of algebraic curves. It turns out that the asymptotic bound derived from the Goppa geometry codes can be improved for the entire interval (0,1). In particular, the Tsfasman-Vladut-Zink (TVZ) bound is ameliorated for the entire interval (0,1).

Abstract: In this paper, we present a construction of linear codes over $\f_{2^t}$ from Boolean functions, which is a generalization of Ding's method \cite[Theorem 9]{Ding15}. Based on this construction, we give two classes of linear codes $\tilde{\C}_{f}$ and $\C_f$ (see Theorem \ref{thm-maincode1} and Theorem \ref{thm-maincodenew}) over $\f_{2^t}$ from a Boolean function $f:\f_{q}\rightarrow \f_2$, where $q=2^n$ and $\f_{2^t}$ is some subfield of $\f_{q}$. The complete weight enumerator of $\tilde{\C}_{f}$ can be easily determined from the Walsh spectrum of $f$, while the weight distribution of the code $\C_f$ can also be easily settled. Particularly, the number of nonzero weights of $\tilde{\C}_{f}$ and $\C_f$ is the same as the number of distinct Walsh values of $f$. As applications of this construction, we show several series of linear codes over $\f_{2^t}$ with two or three weights by using bent, semibent, monomial and quadratic Boolean function $f$.

Abstract:By employing the narrow ray class groups of algebraic curves, we give a construction of constant weight codes. This construction is a generalization of the one proposed by Xing. It turns out that this generalization gives an improvement on the lower bound of binary constant codes in the earlier work of Xing, while the latter one improves an earlier result of Graham and Sloane.

Abstract:Based on curves over finite fields with many rational points, we present two constructions of linear codes from local expansions of functions at a fixed rational point. It turns out that codes from our constructions have the same bound on their parameters as Goppa's (1981) geometry codes. Furthermore, we prove that our second construction is equivalent to Goppa's construction. Finally, an additional construction of linear codes from maximal curves shows that these codes have better parameters than Goppa's geometry codes from maximal curves for a certain interval of parameters.
Linear Codes from Projective Linear Anticodes Revisited

Abstract:An anticode ${\bf C} \subset {\bf F}_q^n$ with the diameter $\delta$ is a code in ${\bf F}_q^n$ such that the distance between any two distinct codewords in ${\bf C}$ is at most $\delta$. The famous Erdös-Kleitman bound for a binary anticode ${\bf C}$ of the length $n$ and the diameter $\delta$ asserts that $$|{\bf C}| \leq \Sigma_{i=0}^{\frac{\delta}{2}} \displaystyle{n \choose i}.$$ In this paper, we give an antiGriesmer bound for $q$-ary projective linear anticodes, which is stronger than the above Erdös-Kleitman bound for binary anticodes. The antiGriesmer bound is a lower bound on diameters of projective linear anticodes. From some known projective linear anticodes, we construct some linear codes with optimal or near optimal minimum distances. A complementary theorem constructing infinitely many new projective linear $(t+1)$-weight code from a known $t$-weight linear code is presented. Then many new optimal or almost optimal few-weight linear codes are given and their weight distributions are determined. As a by-product, we also construct several infinite families of three-weight binary linear codes, which lead to $l$-strongly regular graphs for each odd integer $l \geq 3$.

Abstract:Let $n$ be a prime power, $r$ be a prime with $r\mid n-1$, and $\varepsilon\in (0,1/2)$. Using the theory of multiplicative character sums and superelliptic curves, we construct new codes over $\mathbb F_r$ having length $n$, relative distance $(r-1)/r+O(n^{-\varepsilon})$ and rate $n^{-1/2-\varepsilon}$. When $r=2$, our binary codes have exponential size when compared to all previously known families of linear and non-linear codes with relative distance asymptotic to $1/2$, such as Delsarte--Goethals codes. Moreover, concatenating with a Reed--Solomon code gives a family of codes of length $n$, asymptotic distance $1/2$ and rate $\Omega(n^{-\varepsilon})$ for any fixed small $\varepsilon>0$, improving our initial construction. Such rate is also asymptotically better than the one by Kschischang and Tasbihi obtained by concatenating a Reed--Solomon with Reed--Muller, improving by a factor in $\Omega(n^{1/2}/\log(n))$.

Abstract:Linear codes have been an interesting subject of study for many years, as linear codes with few weights have applications in secrete sharing, authentication codes, association schemes, and strongly regular graphs. In this paper, a class of linear codes with a few weights over the finite field GF(p) are presented and their weight distributions are also determined, where p is an odd prime. Some of the linear codes obtained are optimal in the sense that they meet certain bounds on linear codes.

Abstract:Linear codes are the most important family of codes in cryptography and coding theory. Some codes have only a few weights and are widely used in many areas, such as authentication codes, secret sharing schemes and strongly regular graphs. By setting $ p\equiv 1 \pmod 4 $, we construct an infinite family of linear codes using two distinct weakly regular unbalanced (and balanced) plateaued functions with index $ (p-1)/2 $. Their weight distributions are completely determined by applying exponential sums and Walsh transform. As a result, most of our constructed codes have a few nonzero weights and are minimal.

Abstract:Linear codes play a central role in coding theory and have applications in several branches of mathematics. For error correction purposes the minimum Hamming distance should be as large as possible. Linear codes related to applications in Galois Geometry often require a certain divisibility of the occurring weights. In this paper we present an algorithmic framework for the classification of linear codes over finite fields with restricted sets of weights. The underlying algorithms are based on lattice point enumeration and integer linear programming. We present new enumeration and non-existence results for projective two-weight codes, divisible codes, and additive $\mathbb{F}_4$-codes.

Abstract:The problem of finding good linear codes for joint source-channel coding (JSCC) is investigated in this paper. By the code-spectrum approach, it has been proved in the authors' previous paper that a good linear code for the authors' JSCC scheme is a code with a good joint spectrum, so the main task in this paper is to construct linear codes with good joint spectra. First, the code-spectrum approach is developed further to facilitate the calculation of spectra. Second, some general principles for constructing good linear codes are presented. Finally, we propose an explicit construction of linear codes with good joint spectra based on low density parity check (LDPC) codes and low density generator matrix (LDGM) codes.
