Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions for the one-dimensional p-Laplacian differential equation, (ϕp(u″))′(t)=q(t)f(t,u(t),u′(t),u″(t)),0≤t≤1, subject to the following multipoint generalized right-focal boundary condition, u(0)=∑i=1mαiu(ξi),u′(η)=0,u″(1)=∑i=1nβiu″(θi), by applying a monotone iterative method. We not only obtain the existence of positive solutions for the problem, but also establish iterative schemes for approximating the solutions.

Abstract:This paper deals with the existence and iteration of positive solutions for the following p-Laplacian differential equation: (ϕp(u′(t)))′+q(t)f(t,u(t),u′(t))=0,t∈(0,1), subject to the following Sturm–Liouville-like four-point boundary condition: u(0)−αu′(ξ)=0,u(1)+βu′(η)=0 where ξ,η∈(0,1). By applying the monotone iterative technique and without the assumption of the existence of lower and upper solutions, we not only obtain the existence of positive solutions for the problems, but also establish iterative schemes for approximating the solutions.

By using three fixed point theorems in cones, especially a five functionals fixed point theorem, we obtain the sufficient conditions for the existence of at least one, two and three positive solutions, respectively. Abstract:In this paper, we study a two-point boundary value problem involving p -Laplacian and its relationship with the associated discrete ones. Specifically, by using discrete variational methods, we first obtain a sequence of positive solutions for the associated discrete two-point boundary value problems corresponding to different step lengths. Then, utilizing the sequence of positive solutions, we construct a sequence of continuous functions which can be shown to be precompact. Finally, we prove that the limit function of the convergent subsequence is the desired positive solution. In particular, our result covers the cases when the nonlinear function in the equation is -superlinear and asymptotically -linear.

Abstract:This article shows the existence of positive solutions for a class of p-Laplacian three-point boundary-value problem on time scales. By using several fixed point theorems in cones, we establish conditions for the existence of at least one, two or three positive solutions for the boundary-value problems. Our results are new even for the corresponding differential (T = R) and difference equation (T = Z), and for the general time scales setting. An example is also given to illustrate our results.
