Abstract:Accurate and efficient forecasting of energy consumption is a crucial prerequisite for effective energy planning and policymaking. The BP neural network has been widely used in forecasting, machine learning, and various other fields due to its nonlinear fitting ability. In order to improve the prediction accuracy of the BP neural network, this paper introduces the concept of forecast lead time and establishes a mathematical model accordingly. Prior to training the neural network, the input layer data are preprocessed based on the forecast lead time model. The training and forecasting results of the BP neural network when and when not considering forecast lead time are compared and verified. The findings demonstrate that the forecast lead time model can significantly improve the prediction speed and accuracy, proving to be highly applicable for short-term energy consumption forecasting.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of the electricity consumption forecasting method. An MPSO-BP (modified particle swarm optimization-back propagation) neural network model is constructed based on the history data of a mineral company of Anshan in China. The simulation showed that the convergence of the algorithm and forecasting accuracy using the obtained model are better than those of other traditional ones, such as BP, PSO, fuzzy neural network and so on. Then we predict the electricity consumption of each month in 2017 based on the MPSO-BP neural network model.
The Forecasting Model of Blast Furnace Gas Output Based on Improved BP Network

Abstract:To the problem of fluctuations in the amount of blast furnace gas which affects the gas scheduling and gas balance,the improved back propagation(BP) network was used to build the forecasting model of blast furnace gas output.Since there were a lot of factors affecting the output of blast furnace gas,the input of the model was determined through understanding the operation mechanism of blast furnace gas and the correlation analysis of practical production data.Practical production data of blast furnace was also used to train the model.The Bayesian regularization method was used for improving the generalization ability of artificial neural network.Simulation shows that this model has high accuracy in forecasting the trends of the output of blast furnace gas,to provide the scientific basis and decision support for the gas resources balance and scheduling.As a result,it is useful to reduce the leaking gas and improve the utilization ratio of gas and the information-based degree of the whole enterprise as well.This forecasting model has been successfully applied in the gas scheduling system of Hangzhou Iron Steel Group Company(HISGC) of China and the running results demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

Abstract:By undertaking a cointegration analysis with annual data over the period 1985∼2005 in China, the estimation results show that there is cointegration relationship between electrical energy consumption and economic growth taking into account industry structure changes and technical efficiency. The model shows that three explanatory variables, the GDP per capita, heavy industry share and efficiency improvement are the crucial factors which influence the electric energy consumption. The three explanatory variables and the actual electrical energy consumption are input into a support vector machine(SVM), a Gaussian radial basis function is taken as the kernel function and electrical energy consumptions from 1994∼2006 are forecasted. The forecast results prove that the multivariable SVM is valid in forecasting electrical energy consumption in China.

Abstract:Load forecasting is a basic issue in grid planning and operation arrangements, and the forecasting accuracy varies from system to system in terms of the local load demand characteristics and different external influencing factors. This paper contributes a monthly load forecasting method based on an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and the classical back-propagation neural network (BPNN). The original sequential monthly energy demand records are firstly decomposed into regular static component, seasonal component and irregular nonlinear component by multiplicative trend decomposition. After that, an ARIMA model is optimally selected and trained to emulate the trend component in terms of its suitable feature of describing linear time series. On the other hand, a three-layer BPNN is employed to govern the connection between the city-specific external meteorological factors with the nonlinear irregular components. the proposed ARIMA-BP model is validated against a representative deep-leaning method–-EMD-LSTM model, through their applications to the whole society monthly demand prediction of Shaoxing city. The application results show that the proposed ARIMA-BP model is obviously superior to the EMD-LSTM model in terms of prediction accuracy.

Abstract:Different energy systems are closely connected with each other in industrial-park integrated energy system (IES). The energy demand forecasting has important impact on IES dispatching and planning. This paper proposes an approach of short-term energy forecasting for electricity, heat, and gas by employing deep multitask learning whose structure is constructed by deep belief network (DBN) and multitask regression layer. The DBN can extract abstract and effective characteristics in an unsupervised fashion, and the multitask regression layer above the DBN is used for supervised prediction. Then, subject to condition of practical demand and model integrity, the whole energy forecasting model is introduced, including preprocessing, normalization, input properties, training stage, and evaluating indicator. Finally, the validity of the algorithm and the accuracy of the energy forecasts for an industrial-park IES system are verified through the simulations using actual operating data from load system. The positive results turn out that the deep multitask learning has great prospects for load forecast.

Predicting Industrial Electricity Consumption Using Industry–Geography Relationships: A Graph-Based Machine Learning Approach

Abstract:Accurately predicting industrial electricity consumption is of paramount importance for optimizing energy management and operational efficiency. Traditional forecasting approaches face significant challenges in capturing the complex factors influencing industrial electricity consumption, often due to the inadequate representation of correlations, thus limiting their predictive capabilities. To overcome these limitations, we propose a novel graph-based forecasting model termed Industry–Geography Time Series Forecasting Model (IG-TFM). Our approach leverages historical electricity consumption data and geographical information relevant to similar industries to construct an industry–geography relationship graph. This graph serves as the foundation of a comprehensive network that encompasses all industries of interest, allowing us to identify sectors closely associated with the target industry. The structured graph data are then processed within a graph convolutional neural network framework, which effectively captures the impact of geographical location, industry similarities, and inter-industry relationships on electricity consumption patterns. Utilizing this enriched representation, we develop our IG-TFM for accurate time series forecasting of industrial electricity consumption. Experiments conducted on real-world data, including 31 industries across 9 cities in a southern province of China, demonstrate the significant advantages of our proposed method across key performance indicators such as the Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). These findings underscore the importance and efficacy of employing complex networks to encode sequence-related information, thereby substantially improving prediction accuracy in industrial electricity consumption forecasting.

Abstract:The BP neural network has great advantage to solve the nonlinear complex system. According to the characteris-tics of the household electricity load itself,the electrical equipment energy consumption data of the users attaching to Guang-zhou Power Supply Bureau is taken as the training sample. The BP neural network is used to construct the energy consumption analysis model of the electrical equipment. The energy efficiency index which can reflect the target features is selected to deter-mine the quantity of the neurons,and construct the users classification index. The users are classified according to the trained BP neural network to realize the energy efficiency contrastive analysis among users. The results show that the model has good convergence,and the analysis result has small absolute error. Therefore,the BP neural network used to analyze the users' ener-gy efficiency has practicability and availability.

Abstract:In recent years, global climate change caused by carbon dioxide emissions has attracted more and more attention. Adjusting the energy mix by predicting energy demands is currently a more effective way to address climate issues and energy supply issues. Based on the panel data from 1999 to 2018 in China, this paper designed a new hybrid prediction model to predict the future electricity consumption of Chinese residents by double improvement of particle swarm optimization. By comparing with the BP neural prediction model without mixing and several BP neural prediction models with other improved and mixed forms, the results show that the BP neural network hybrid prediction model with DPSO-BP is more suitable for forecasting the electricity consumption of Chinese residents. At the same time, the prediction results of the DPSO-BP prediction model show that the annual electricity consumption of Chinese residents will increase from 9685 (100 million kWh) in 2018 to 13,171 (100 million kWh) in 2025 in the next 7 years. The research results provide a reference for future scholars in the design of algorithms and provide suggestions for the government to adjust energy and avoid severe power shortages or surpluses.

Abstract:Time series forecasting is an important aspect of dynamic data analysis and processing, in science, economics, engineering and many other applications there exists using the historical data to predict the problem of the future, and is one considerable practical value of applied research. Time series forecasting is an interdisciplinary study field, this paper is under the guidance of the introduction of artificial neural network and time series prediction theory, and then take artificial neural network into time series prediction in-depth theory, method and model studies. Power system load forecasting is an important component of power generation scheme, and is the basis for reasonable arrangements for scheduling operation mode, unit commitment plan, the exchange of power schemes, so the accuracy of load forecasting whether good or bad will be directly related to the industrial sector's economic interests. In addition, the load forecasting is also conducive to the management of planning electricity, the fuel-efficient, lower cost of power generation; formulating a reasonable power construction plan to improve the economic and social benefits power system. So the forecasting load is necessary. First, we set BP neural network model, and predict the specific time load, and the predicted results are very satisfactory. We can test that BP neural network time series forecasting model has good predictive ability and better promotion of ability. And we also test that the effectiveness and universality of BP neural network time series forecasting model.

Abstract:Aiming at solving the problems in each traditional forecasting method, a optimal mix forecas- ting method based on BP neural network was put forwards. Using the for sample inputs of the BP neural and the history factual values as the outputs,Expected precision could be reached by sample training,the forecast could be done by applying BP neural network. By having applied the new method to the prediction of the total power requirement of agricultural machinery in Zhejiang province, it showed that the method had achieved better forecasting results compared with other forecasting models.

Abstract:Northeast China has been facing a severe power shortage situation. Since September 2021, "power rationing" events occurring in many places in the three provinces of northeast China have been causing inconvenience to people's production and life. Therefore, it is particularly important to accurately predict the power load combined with the influencing factors of local power consumption. At the same time, the northeast region is about to enter the heating season, and the pressure on coal and electricity will further increase. In Heilongjiang Province, due to coal capacity control, limited production led to the high price of thermal coal; wind power photovoltaic output fluctuations, the epidemic, and other reasons also resulted in a large gap in the power supply side. Improving the power demand forecasting ability is of great significance to strengthen the reliability of people's daily electricity consumption, rational distribution of power generation plans, and deployment of power grid resources. In order to improve the accuracy of electricity consumption prediction in Heilongjiang Province, Markov error correction is carried out on the basis of the backpropagation (BP) neural network prediction model so that the final prediction results have the advantages of the BP neural network prediction model and Markov model. In addition, it is more suitable for the prediction of random series data with high volatility, the prediction accuracy can be improved significantly, and the overall trend of electricity consumption can be predicted more accurately.

Abstract:This research focuses on the crucial task of accurately forecasting electricity consumption, a key concern in modern societies where electricity is essential for industries, healthcare, and transportation. The study explores the complex factors influencing electricity usage, aiming to improve the accuracy of consumption forecasts. Recognizing the limitations of current forecasting techniques, which often fail to account for the detailed interplay of variables affecting consumption, it introduces innovative methods to address these challenges. By employing sensitivity analysis and advanced hybrid boosting algorithms, such as LightGBM and CatBoost optimized with Arithmetic Optimization and Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithms, the research analyzes time-series data on electricity use, weather conditions, and usage timing across three power distribution networks. The sensitivity analysis reveals the significant impact of customer behavior and temperature on consumption patterns. The predictive models, especially the optimized LightGBM, demonstrate remarkable accuracy, with rates of 0.9996 and 0.9968 for training and testing datasets, respectively. These results highlight the effectiveness of the proposed methodologies in providing accurate and reliable forecasts of electricity demand, offering valuable insights for the energy sector to manage resources more efficiently and meet consumption needs effectively.

Abstract:In recent years, the phenomenon of wind and solar energy abandoned in Xinjiang’s new energy has become severe, the contradiction between the supply and demand of the power grid is obvious, and the proportion of power in the energy consumption structure is relatively low, thus hindering the development of Xinjiang’s green power. In this context, the focus of Xinjiang’s power has shifted to promote the development of electric energy replacement. Therefore, using the Xinjiang region as an example, we first select the important indicators such as the terminal energy substitution in Xinjiang, added value of the secondary industry, population, terminal power consumption intensity, and per capita disposable income. Subsequently, eight combined forecasting models based on the grey model (GM), multiple linear regression (MLR), and error back propagation neural network (BP) are constructed to predict and analyse the electricity consumption of the whole society in Xinjiang. The results indicate the optimal weighted combination forecasting model, GM-MLR-BP of the induced ordered weighted harmonic averaging operator (IOWHA operator), exhibits better prediction accuracy, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is proven.

Abstract:The long-term demand forecast for annual national electricity and energy consumption plays a vital role in future strategic planning, power system installation programming, energy investment planning, and next-generation unit construction. Three machine learning algorithms of BP-NN, MLR, and LS-SVM were chosen for training forecasting models, with the data on population, GDP, mean temperature, sunshine, rainfall, and frost days in 1993–2019 serving as the input variables. The total data were divided by 70% into the training set (1993–2011) and 30% into the test set (2012–2019), in chronological order. RMSE, MAPE, and MaxError were adopted as the performance criteria. The statistical results show that the gross population of the UK increases year by year from 1993 to 2020. The GDP generally increases before 2007 but has a decline, and then varies with a large amplitude afterward. The electricity and energy consumption of the UK generally increase from 1993 and reach a peak around 2005. Afterward, a decline occurs basically year by year until 2019. The simulation results reveal that all three models predict well on the training set but have some overestimation on the test set. The LS-SVM model has the best forecasting performance among the three models on the training set. The results show that it is feasible to use machine learning algorithms to predict the future electricity and energy consumption of a country based on past economic and livelihood data. In this way, economic decision-makers can rely on the predicted values to make a well-founded layout for future energy construction and investment to avoid waste or a shortage of resources.

Abstract:Abstract As the rapid development of the power industry, the analysis and forecasting of large power companies in the power market is very important. It not only makes the distribution and operation of power more reasonable, but also greatly enhances the rationality of customer power consumption. Predictive analysis with power customers is critical. Based on the service side, the electricity consumption of enterprises in Guangdong Province was selected as the training sample, and the BP neural network-based prediction algorithm was selected to study and construct the enterprise electricity package model. The effective data of 695 enterprise electricity consumption was used for training and verification. Achieve accurate package design for enterprises with different power consumption.

Abstract:In the current global context, it is crucial to forecast trends in new energy electric vehicles. In this study, we used three forecasting models, namely, grey prediction, time series analysis and BP neural network, and compared and evaluated the forecasting effects of the models, which showed that the evaluation indexes of BP neural network model were much better than those of the other models, in which the coefficient of determination (R 2) reaches 0.9929, which indicates that the prediction of BP neural network model is the most effective. The results showed that the new energy electric vehicle industry in China as a whole showed a steady and benign development trend.

Abstract:Since the power generated by grid-connected photovoltaic power generation system is unstable,it has great impact on the power grid.This paper analyzes the influencing factor of photovoltaic power generation,and the back-propagation neural network is adopted to establish the power prediction model.Using the Fletcher-Reeves conjugate gradient algorithm,this model overcomes the defect of slow convergence rate for traditional BP neural network.On the premise of keeping stable for the training progress,this model has faster learning rate.Combination of historical photovoltaic power generation and weather data,this model is trained,evaluated and applied to predict the photovoltaic power generation.The results indicate that the proposed model has high precision and improves safety and stability of grid-connected photovoltaic power generation.
