Abstract:In order to improve the interoperation of spatial information,a new solution to implementation of discovery and retrieval for spatial information web services based on the ontology technology was proposed.After the knowledge expression of web services capacity using web ontology language for services(OWL-S)was introduced,an architecture for spatial information interaction was constructed,and a semantic matchmaker based on ontology was added into the traditional service registry center in the architecture.An actualized process of service request under the frame of spatial information web services was given on the frame of the standard open GIS consortium(OGC) web services.The results show that the ontology technology can extend the semantic of web services,re-use the same or similar web services,and improve the efficiency of reasoning.

Abstract:Modem enterprises consist of complex business systems. These systems need to be integrated to support enterprises operation. The SOA and ESB become an important enterprise integration architecture style for designing and implementing integration systems. But there are some limitations of today's ESB framework, such as only syntactic description of service interface, inability to perform semantic mediation and incapable process knowledge management. Therefore developers need deep and intimate knowledge to develop integration systems. We introduce an ontology-based semantic annotation approach to enrich and reconcile semantics of data, services and process models on ESB that enables data, service and process models interoperability on the semantic level through common domain ontologies.

Abstract:Introducing Semantic Web method into online social network is an efficient way to promote the application of it. However, current framework of FOAF does not define many important aspects of online social network, which hinder its fully application. As a result, in this paper we extend the FOAF vocabulary with the support for SNS, social tie, resource, and access control, and then build web services based on it. The semantic model based on our extension provides base for further development of online social network.

Abstract:The current Web service description standard,Web service description language (WSDL),lacks semantic descriptions even though semantic Web services can improve the discovery and composition accuracy of Web services.Web service semantic annotations add semantic information to the service description.An annotation method was developed to first extract semantic information from the WSDL file according to the similarities between the XML schema and the ontology entity.Then,the extracted information is annotated using the name similarities and structural similarities between ontology entities.Finally,a semantic description of the Web service is generated in OWL-S format.Tests annotating dozens of Web services in various domains had an accurate rate of 92.5%.

Abstract:The emerging web service technologies have received increasing attention in both industry and academic communities. The interoperability it promised has made it more welcome than other integration technologies. However, web services may not be able to interact with one another directly due to interface mismatches. It happens when the service consumer and service provider have different message signatures. In this paper, we proposed an automatic interface adaptation approach that exploits ontology alignment tool. We propose a method that enables the interaction between WSDL described web service and semantic web services .We have also developed a method that extracts relevant semantic information from original annotation ontology to construct a compact ontology, in order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of ontology alignment results.

We propose a process ontology model by adopting an inheritance mechanism with overriding declaration and monotonic inheritance. Abstract:In healthcare IT environment there are disparate functional systems and they need to collaborate to support healthcare enterprise workflow. While messaging standard and service-oriented approach provides general interoperability practice, they lack sufficient support for semantic interoperability. Semantic web service technology has proved useful to improve semantic interoperability by annotating service interfaces with domain ontologies in the healthcare domain. However, current approaches rely on ad-hoc manual effort to define semantic annotation and there lacks a generalized, cost-effective approach to automatically generate semantic web service descriptions from domain knowledge to ensure consistency and interoperability. In this paper, we propose a mapping-based approach to utilize healthcare domain knowledge to reduce the effort of manually creating semantic annotation. Specifically, we establish modeling ontology for Health Level 7 (HL7) messaging standard and define its semantic mapping to Web Service Modeling Ontology (WSMO). A use case illustrates generating WSMO service annotation using this mapping with HL7 standard model as input. This mapping allows separation of concern and enables automatic annotation, and thus eases introducing semantic technology into healthcare environment unfamiliar with semantics.

Abstract:Currently a large number of web services as well as other kinds of services such as EJBs,COM,and even Java Classes are made available to the general public.Facilitating the SOA based system development by leveraging such kinds of services becomes a challenge.A framework for service repository,ontology based service discovery and service composition is put forward.The service repository can maintain the web services,EJBs,and Java Classes with the functions such as service registration,publishing,discovery, matching,versioning,and monitoring.The details of service description are analyzed.A domain ontology for Procurement,Selling,and Inventory is also given.Based on the domain ontology and the service repository, the semantic enhanced service composition algorithm is discussed.

Abstract:The development of Web Services has transformed the World Wide Web into a more application-aware information portal. The various standards ensure that Web Services are interpretable and extensible, opening up possibilities for simple services to be combined to build complex ones. The Semantic Web presents a new mechanism for users and software agents to discover, describe, invoke, compose and monitor Web services. For these purposes the Semantic Web Services (OWL-S) ontologies have been developed to provide vocabularies to describe Web Services in a precise and machine-understandable way. It is necessary to ensure the ontological descriptions of the services capture the intended meaning as erroneous description may cause invocation of wrong services, with wrong parameters, resulting in undesired outcome. In this paper, we propose to apply software engineering method and tools to visualize, simulate and verify OWL-S process models. Namely, Live Sequence Charts (LSCs) is used to model services, capturing the inner workings of services, and its tool support Play-Engine is used to perform automated visualization, simulation and checking.

Abstract:Service-oriented computing (SOC) is an interdisciplinary paradigm that revolutionizes the very fabric of distributed software development applications that adopt service-oriented architectures (SOA) can evolve during their lifespan and adapt to changing or unpredictable environments more easily. SOA is built around the concept of Web Services. Although the Web services constitute a revolution in Word Wide Web, they are always regarded as non-autonomous entities and can be exploited only after their discovery. With the help of software agents, Web services are becoming more efficient and more dynamic. The topic of this paper is the development of an agent based approach for Web services discovery and selection in witch, OWL-S is used to describe Web services, QoS and service customer request. We develop an efficient semantic service matching which takes into account concepts properties to match concepts in Web service and service customer request descriptions. Our approach is based on an architecture composed of four layers: Web service and Request description layer, Functional match layer, QoS computing layer and Reputation computing layer.

Abstract:To solve the problem of lacking effective services query mechanism in existing Web services and maximize the using of Web services,a semantic Web technology based Web services query mechanism was proposed.With this mechanism,the Web services related ontology information,domain dependent and independent basic conceptual ontology information were adopted.Combined with a former system Web Oriented Distributed Ontology System(WODOS) which supported ontology-based reasoning, a new system Web Services Intelligent Discovery System(WSIDS) based on domain rules and F-logic reasoning engine was implemented.At the same time,Web services constraint model: Subject,Property,Value,Action(SPVA),and semantic supplement model were proposed.Finally,an application case was used to illustrate reasoning process and running result of this system,and was also compared with other related tasks.

Abstract:With the latest semantic annotation specification SAWSDL provided by W3C, web service components were annotated, and annotation process and method were discussed in detail. At the same time, a framework for web services matching and composition was present and its prototype was developed. Service matching algorithms, which were integrated in a service template, were stressed from aspects of function matching, I/O parameters matching and quality of service matching. Finally, the auto-matching of web services was implemented in this paper. The research result reveals that the method that use SAWSDL to implement semantic annotation and service matching is easy and flexible, which is a good approach to achieve semantic web services modeling and services composition.

Abstract:Current GIS service standards WSDL and SOAP,introduced for describing,discovering and invoking GIS Services,only describe the syntactic aspects of a GIS Service.WSDL is less suitable for describing the semantics of a Web Service capability.This drawback affects not only the service discovery procedure but also service composition,invocation and interoperation.GIS service,based on semantic Web,is a combination of semantic Web and GIS service technologies that promise to alleviate these problems.In this paper we describe OWL-S,ontology of services written in OWL that enables users and software agents,with a high degree of automation,to discover,invoke,compose and monitor Web resources.Then we illustrate our approach through an application in the domain of spatial information service.

Abstract:Service Oriented Computing (SOC) is a popular computing paradigm for the development of distributed Web applications. Service composition, a key element of SOC, is severely hampered by various types of semantic heterogeneity among the services. In this paper, we address the various semantic differences from the context perspective and use a lightweight ontology to describe the concepts and their specializations. Atomic conversions between the contexts are implemented using XPath functions and external services. The correspondences between the syntactic service descriptions and the semantic concepts are established using a flexible, standard-compliant mechanism. Given the naive BPEL composition ignoring semantic differences, our reconciliation approach can automatically determine and reconcile the semantic differences. The mediated BPEL composition incorporates necessary conversions to convert the data exchanged between different services. Our solution has the desirable properties (e.g., adaptability, extensibility and scalability) and can significantly alleviate the reconciliation efforts for Web services composition.

Abstract:Modern scientific research is generating daunting amount of data that is commonly required to be combined together to service daily research endeavors. This paper introduces an ontology-based approach to publishing and composing data intensive web service. The approach distinguishes itself by its capability of dynamically evolving service interface and a data service composition graph (DSCG for short) planner for service composition, enabled by richly describing service capability using the semantic web languages. The advantage of the proposed approach is that the data service(DS for short) can adapt itself with client request dynamically, greatly improving its query service capability. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is scalable, and provides a better performance on handling time.

Abstract:Interface mismatches are common among web services interactions. It happens when the interacting services have different message signatures. Semantic Web technologies are proposed to address this problem. If services are annotated with shared ontologies, an interface adapter may be generated by connecting messages that annotated with same or similar concepts. Unfortunately, services are usually annotated with different ontologies. As a result, different ontologies need to be aligned before adaptation. Aligning large ontologies can be time-consuming and inaccurate, which leads to inefficient and unsuccessful web service adaptation. In this paper, we tackle the problem by proposing a sub-ontology extraction method to generate Representation Ontology for each service. The Representation Ontologies can significantly increase alignment speed and accuracy, which consequently improve the process of interface adapter generation. Related tests are conducted to evaluate our work.

Abstract:At present, massive Web Services are available on the Internet; discovery of relevant and required ones among these Web Services becomes a significant challenge. Because of deficiency of semantics, traditional discovery approaches are inefficient and have lower precision rate. In such a case, this paper presents a framework of Web Services description and discovery using OWL-S and domain ontology by which semantic information is extracted to help convert WSDLs into service profile files describing how service works semantically; then mappings from profiles to UDDI are built to reconstructed data structures of UDDI for supporting semantic services discovery. Meanwhile, a query template is provided to formulate the format of service requirement; after formatted, alluser queries will be submitted to discovery engine and query engine to complete the semantic discovery process. As results, the most suited services can be discovered and returned to users. The experiment shows this framework is effective and useful in services discovery.

Abstract:Number of web services available on Internet and its usage are increasing very fast. In many cases, one service is not enough to complete the business requirement; composition of web services is carried out. Autonomous composition of web services to achieve new functionality is generating considerable attention in semantic web domain. Development time and effort for new applications can be reduced with service composition. Various approaches to carry out automated composition of web services are discussed in literature. Web service composition using ontologies is one of the effective approaches. In this paper we demonstrate how the ontology based composition can be made faster for each customer. We propose a framework to provide precomposed web services to fulfil user requirements. We detail how ontology merging can be used for composition which expedites the whole process. We discuss how framework provides customer specific ontology merging and repository. We also elaborate on how merging of ontologies is carried out.
