Abstract:It is a difficult problem which is left since the Euclid times to find a mechanical method to prove difficult geometry theorems to make learning and teaching of geometry easy. In history, many mathematicians , such as Leibniz, Hilbert, and etc., have tried on this field. Modern computer technology and science make it possible to produce proofs of geometry theorem automatically. However, in practice it is a very difficult task. Since the 1950s, lots of scholars have studied computer geometry theorem proving, but all of them did not make much progress in proving relatively difficult geometry theorems. In 1978, A breakthrough came with the work of Wu Wen-Tsun, who introduced an algebraic method which, for the first time, was used to prove hundreds of geometry theorems automatically [1]. Many difficult theorems whose traditional proofs need an enormous amount of human intelligence can be proved by computer programs based on Wu's method within seconds. Up to now, Wu's method is a very effective method in mechanical geometry theorem proving. Some foreign scholars have ever applied Groebner basis method to study computer geometry theorem proving, but the effect is not as good as Wu's method by far. developed, based on the mechanization of the area method, a method which can produce short and readable proofs for hundreds of geometric statements in plane and solid geometries [2]. This is another great progress in this field. Clifford(geometric) algebras were created and classified by English mathematician William K. Clifford 1878/1882. Developed by many mathematicians and physicists, Clifford algebras have been applied in many fields such as physics, mathematics and engineering [3][4][5]. As D. Hestenes pointed out, Clifford algebra is a universal geometric algebra applicable to almost every mathematical domain with geometric structure [3]. Li Hongbo and Cheng Minteh have proposed a complete method combining Clifford algebraic representation with Wu's method for mechanically proving theorems in plane geometry [6]. In this paper, we consider mechanical geometry theorem proving along this train of thought. In fact, the core of Clifford algebra is introducing the geometric product between the geometric objects. Geometric objects with the usual sum and the geometric product operation form an algebra, the geometric algebra. With the geometric algebraic represention, we transform the geometric problems into (non-commutative) algebraic problems. It is easy to implement on computers in some cases. The definition of geometric product is closely related with the metric. It corresponds to common geometry …
