Abstract:It is shown that the Hausdorff dimension of the fast escaping set of a quasiregular self-map of R 3 can take any value in the interval [1, 3]. The Hausdorff dimension of the Julia set of such a map is estimated under some growth condition.

In this paper, the Hausdorff dimension of E(x, T) is established. We get that for any T is an element of R, almost every x is an element of R-d, dim E(x, T) = N - dalpha with probability one under the condition N >dalpha.

Abstract:In this paper we study the dimension of planar elliptic measures via the application of quasiconformal mappings. In fact, in our case studies, we find a quasiconformal mapping that relates the elliptic measure in a domain to the harmonic measure in its image domain, and we deduce bounds for the Hausdorff dimension of the elliptic measure by the known results on the harmonic side.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the Hausdorff dimension of Cantor attractors of smooth interval maps with non-flat critical points. We prove that the Hausdorff dimension is bounded from above by a constant less than 1 which depends only on the number and order of the critical points.

Abstract:We review the motivation and fundamental properties of the Hausdorff dimension of metric spaces and illustrate this with a number of examples, some of which are expected and well-known. We also give examples where the Hausdorff dimension has some surprising properties: we construct a set $E\subset\C$ of positive planar measure and with dimension 2 such that each point in $E$ can be joined to $\infty$ by one or several curves in $\C$ such that all curves are disjoint from each other and from $E$, and so that their union has Hausdorff dimension 1. We can even arrange things so that every point in $\C$ which is not on one of these curves is in $E$. These examples have been discovered very recently; they arise quite naturally in the context of complex dynamics, more precisely in the iteration theory of simple maps such as $z\mapsto \pi\sin(z)$.

Abstract:In this article we aim to investigate the Hausdorff dimension of the set of points $x \in [0,1)$ such that for any $r\in\mathbb{N},$ \begin{align*} a_{n+1}(x)a_{n+2}(x)\cdots a_{n+r}(x)\geq e^{\tau(x)(h(x)+\cdots+h(T^{n-1}(x)))} {align*} holds for infinitely many $n\in\mathbb{N},$ where $h$ and $\tau$ are positive continuous functions, $T$ is the Gauss map and $a_n(x)$ denote the $n$th partial quotient of $x$ in its continued fraction expansion. By appropriate choices of $r$, $\tau(x)$ snd $h(x)$ we obtain the classical Jarník-Besicovitch Theorem as well as more recent results by Wang-Wu-Xu, Wang-Wu, Huang-Wu-Xu and Hussain-Kleinbock-Wadleigh-Wang.

Abstract:Bergweiler and Kotus gave sharp upper bounds for the Hausdorff dimension of the escaping set of a meromorphic function in the Eremenko-Lyubich class, in terms of the order of the function and the maximal multiplicity of the poles. We show that these bounds are also sharp in the Speiser class. We apply this method also to construct meromorphic functions in the Speiser class with preassigned dimensions of the Julia set and the escaping set.

Abstract:We prove the existence of Cantor Julia sets with Hausdorff dimension two. In particular, such examples can be found in cubic polynomials. The proof is based on the characterization of the parameter spaces and dynamical planes of cubic polynomials by Branner-Hubbard, and the parabolic bifurcation theory developed by Shishikura in 1990s.

Abstract:We determine the Hausdorff dimension of sets of irrationals in $(0,1)$ whose partial quotients in semi-regular continued fractions obey certain restrictions and growth conditions. This result substantially generalizes that of the second author [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. {\bf 151} (2023), 3645--3653] and the solution of Hirst's conjecture [B.-W. Wang and J. Wu, Bull. London Math. Soc. {\bf 40} (2008), 18--22], both previously obtained for the regular continued fraction. To prove the result, we construct non-autonomous iterated function systems well-adapted to the given restrictions and growth conditions on partial quotients, estimate the associated pressure functions, and then apply Bowen's formula.

Abstract:It was proved by Shen that the graph of the classical Weierstrass function Sigma(infinity)(n =0) lambda(n) cos(2 pi b(n)x) has Hausdorff dimension 2 + log lambda/log b, for every integer b >= 2 and every l is an element of(1/b, 1) [Hausdorff dimension of the graph of the classical Weierstrass functions, Math. Z., 289 (2018), 223-266]. In this paper, we prove that the dimension formula holds for every integer b >= 3 and every lambda is an element of(1/b, 1) if we replace the function cos by sin in the definition of Weierstrass function. A class of more general functions are also discussed.

Abstract:Devaney and Krych showed that for 0<λ<1/e the Julia set of λ e^z consists of pairwise disjoint curves, called hairs, which connect finite points, called the endpoints of the hairs, with ∞. McMullen showed that the Julia set has Hausdorff dimension 2 and Karpińska showed that the set of hairs without endpoints has Hausdorff dimension 1. We study for which gauge functions the Hausdorff measure of the set of hairs without endpoints is finite.

Abstract:Let $\varphi_0$ be a $C^2$-conservative diffeomorphism of a compact surface $S$ and let $\Lambda_0$ be a mixing horseshoe of $\varphi_0$. Given a smooth real function $f$ defined in $S$ and some diffeomorphism $\varphi$, close to $\varphi_0$, let $\mathcal{L}_{\varphi, f}$ be the Lagrange spectrum associated to the hyperbolic continuation $\Lambda(\varphi)$ of the horseshoe $\Lambda_0$ and $f$. We show that, for generic choices of $\varphi$ and $f$, if $L_{\varphi, f}$ is the map that gives the Hausdorff dimension of the set $\mathcal{L}_{\varphi, f}\cap (-\infty, t)$ for $t\in \mathbb{R}$, then there are at most two points that can be limit of a infinite sequence of discontinuities of $L_{\varphi, f}$.

Abstract:For Cantor circle Julia sets of hyperbolic rational maps, we prove that they are quasisymmetrically equivalent to standard Cantor circles (i.e., connected components are round circles). This gives a quasisymmetric uniformization of all Cantor circle Julia sets of hyperbolic rational maps. By analyzing the combinatorial information of the rational maps whose Julia sets are Cantor circles, we give a computational formula of the number of the Cantor circle hyperbolic components in the moduli space of rational maps for any fixed degree. We calculate the Hausdorff dimensions of the Julia sets which are Cantor circles, and prove that for any Cantor circle hyperbolic component H in the space of rational maps, the infimum of the Hausdorff dimensions of the Julia sets of the maps in H is equal to the conformal dimension of the Julia set of any representative f(0) is an element of H, and that the supremum of the Hausdorff dimensions is equal to 2.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of the following family of rational maps f(lambda) (z) = z(2n) - 3(n+1) z(n) (z(2n) - lambda(n-1)) with one parameter lambda is an element of C* -{lambda:lambda(2n+2) =1}, where n >= 2. This family of rational maps is viewed as a singular perturbation of the bi- critical map P-n (z) = z(-n) if lambda not equal 0 is small. It is proved that the Julia set J (f(lambda)) is either a quasicircle, a Cantor set of circles, a Sierpinski carpet or a degenerate Sierpinski carpet provided the free critical orbits of f(lambda) are attracted by the super-attracting cycle 0 <-> 1. Furthermore, we prove that there exists suitable lambda such that J (f(lambda)) is a Cantor set of circles but the dynamics of f(lambda) on J (f(lambda)) is not topologically conjugate to that of any known rational maps with only one or two free critical orbits (including McMullen maps and the generalized McMullen maps). The connectivity of J (f(lambda)) is also proved if the free critical orbits are not attracted by the cycle 0 $ 1. Finally we give an estimate of the Hausdor ff dimension of the Julia set of f(lambda) in some special cases.
Hausdorff dimension of the Rauzy gasket

Abstract:The Rauzy gasket is the attractor of a parabolic, nonconformal iterated function system on the projective plane which describes an exceptional parameter set in various important topological and dynamical problems. Since 2009 there have been several attempts to calculate the Hausdorff dimension of the Rauzy gasket, which is a challenging problem due to the combination of the parabolicity and nonconformality in the geometry. In this paper we settle this question by proving that the Hausdorff dimension of the Rauzy gasket equals the (projective) affinity dimension. The key technical result underpinning this is a partial generalisation of work of Hochman and Solomyak to the $\mathrm{SL}_3(\mathbb{R})$ setting, where we establish the exact dimension of stationary (Furstenberg) measures supported on the Rauzy gasket. The dimension results for both stationary measures and attractors are established in broader generality and extend recent work on projective iterated function systems to higher dimensions.

Abstract:We investigate the distortion of the Assouad dimension and (regularized) spectrum of sets under planar quasiregular maps. While the respective results for the Hausdorff and upper box-counting dimension follow immediately from their quasiconformal counterparts by employing elementary properties of these dimension notions (e.g. countable stability and Lipschitz stability), the Assouad dimension and spectrum do not share such properties. We obtain upper bounds on the Assouad dimension and spectrum of images of compact sets under planar quasiregular maps by studying their behavior around their critical points. As an application the invariance of porosity of compact subsets of the plane under quasiregular maps is established.
